^ That's gorgeous, but $2000 - ouuuuuccchhh. I read that there are payment plans available so that makes it more accessible, maybe if they were to release an Enterprise E I'd be more tempted. -b.

Indeed. Bandai has the release date for the 31E as 07/20; https://tamashii.jp/item/12827/ -b.

Star Trek: Picard (CBS All-Access)
Kanedas Bike replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Honestly I'd be okay with that too, just something to carry the story/mythos forward vs. revisiting the past over and over. Annnnddd then you go and post cool pics like that - I'd watch it. IMHO Star Trek Discovery would have been much better received with those designs and the story that it implies vs. what CBS has put out so far. -b.- 2171 replies

...I mean, I liked TFA and parts of TLJ, but that new Storm Trooper = big time fail, I mean just call it anything other than a Sith Trooper. Especially with no light saber or force-weapon to be seen. -b.

Star Trek: Picard (CBS All-Access)
Kanedas Bike replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Right! Need to find out their diet, and copy it. Also, just makes me wish for another TNG-era starship based series. And I never thought I'd say that because I (mostly) liked the Kelvin Universe Start Trek stuff, especially Star Trek and IMO the horribly underrated Star Trek: Beyond. But oh well... -b.- 2171 replies

Star Trek: Picard (CBS All-Access)
Kanedas Bike replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not really on-topic, but watching the 1981 Excalibur on TV right now and damn Patrick Stewart is apparently immortal. I thought he was old then but here we are 40 years later and he's still going strong at close to 80 years of age. No comment on Picard, but I do wish that if CBS was going to be so insistent on having Trek then they'd do it "right". -b.- 2171 replies

^Cool, cool. And I've seen Marvel fatigue set in for a few people and I get that it's not all uncommon at all. I also hope for DC fans to get the characters and movies they want to the big screen as well. I'm such a movie nerd (or whore lol) that I just enjoy going for the spectacle they provide. So for Marvel to have done this across 10 years, and seemingly set up for another 10 years I'm there. That said I think Marvel has a real opportunity with the small green to tell more intimate stories that the big screen can't accommodate. I never watched any of the Netflix series, so maybe they already did, but now that those are gone there's another opportunity for Marvel to do so. I think I remember previews for both of those, but I gave up on shows like that after the letdown that was Lost and The Event. -b.

Oh Marvel definitely played it safe in Spider-Man: Far From Home (and sorry if we spoiled it!!!!). For me the interesting part would be character driven, doesn't even need to have a superhero carry the story, in fact I think it'd be better if it were regular people (or as regular as the non-super powered Agents of Shield are). Endgame did a good job touching on post-snap life and hardship, but to tell the stories of what happens when people are "blipped" back and have to re-acclimate to life that's moved on 5 years. Whew. -b.

Me three That said, if Marvel had a decent television presence that could be explored across a season or more, because I do agree that it's a compelling story worth telling. IF done properly. -b.

Watched the trailer again, this doesn't even feel like a Disney movie, or rather one re-imagined from a cartoon. At least not yet and for me that's a good thing. I'm interested in watching it assuming it has the same feel as this first trailer. -b.

Entertainment Earth's prices are the same as BBTS and US Amazon (which may be slightly cheaper just because they're Amazon). So by reasonable, I mean SRP or whatever the going discount is, not N-Y 2nd and subsequent round listings, eBay, Yahoo! Japan or Amazon.jp Marketplace. -b.

Well...I mean I didn't have to be up to get pre-orders for the Metal Build Gundams I've purchased at Entertainment Earth, or the Metal Build Evas I purchased or the SOC Voltron. All of which are insanely difficult to get from Japanese sites and require me to get up just before the birds. -b.

Please take this as intended, because I think you stated your points fairly eloquently on why things may not have worked as folks may have imagined with Arcadia and Bandai toys in-stock and available minus any markups at places like Amazon, B&N and many of our other favorite small or large e-tailers. It is all academic, but I wish there's a way to have proven you wrong. Respectfully. -b.

Disney’s Little Mermaid Live Action
Kanedas Bike replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So your argument centers around "they took our jobs"? And we certainly do not agree, in fact I couldn't disagree more with your entire premise because it's based on the idea that having traditionally under-represented groups, represented more, as inherently bad. I'm sure you hated when Thor was written as a woman, or Sam Wilson became Captain America (in the comics and/or MCU) or Riri Williams as an Iron Man figure. Look, this is a Disney movie that is loosely based on, or inspired by previous works. This has been touched on by others more knowledgeable about the history of this particular title. It is not a biopic about a real life/historical figure which is what you compared it to. And then you used probably the worst example you could, Mel Gibson. The very same "drunk" Mel Gibson who is on tape, TWICE, making some pretty horrific comments towards women, those of different religions and of course referring to folks of my background a "pack of _______". And you suggest that he make and then star as a civil rights figure? Please. And tell me about the real-life, historical figure, Ariel, the Little Mermaid and how Halle Bailey's casting goes against this historical figure. I'll wait. All of that said, this should NOT be an us vs. them, it's about including people more. Especially those that historically, have not been included or represented. Do you really see that as a bad thing? If "yes" then you and I will never see eye-to-eye and it's better to just agree to disagree. If that makes me liberal, or hip (personally I see myself as progressive) then those are badges I'll wear proudly. Initially I was pretty ambivalent about this, but I really hope this movie is a critical and commercial success just to shut negative people up. And I really do apologize for my part in keeping the side conversation going. -b. -
LOL - wasting no time on getting the merchandise out. Saw it yesterday, I think it was mentioned Far From Home was very much a palate cleaner/eye-bleach type of release post Endgame. It was a fun way to try and get some closure while at the same time teasing Phase IV. And YES to -b.

Disney’s Little Mermaid Live Action
Kanedas Bike replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
...I dunno, there were about 5 or 6 posts prior to mine that all centered around race as the issue. For the record, I don't feel pandered to by Disney, I think it's a good thing when little kids can see stars and people that look like them on the big screen. Regardless of ethnicity, so if traditionally underrepresented groups (including my own) gets time to shine, then it makes me happy. Children need role models, and if kids can more directly relate to those role models based on appearance AND strength of character (morality and right from wrong) then that's even better. Everyone is of course is entitled to their thoughts and opinions, I just posted about my perception of said thoughts and opinions. I'll just leave it at "hopefully the movie is well-made and enjoyable". PS - a lot of "kids" movies have adult appeal, it's only my one personal choice because the movies I listed don't really appeal to me personally. Now I own The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2 because that's more my cup of tea. Cheers y'all -b.
