Go to settings and you can select your region, with JP being one of many. As long as you have your regular Amazon.jp credentials you should be able to log on. I was on about 5 minutes after the initial "heads-up" post and got the same error message. I actually managed to get one into my cart where it immediately disappeared. -b.

^YES - DEATH BLOSSOM! -b. -
Yeah, I'm with you on wanting, or even preferring variants to repaints, at least in some cases. However, I think outside of the two Anniversary schemes Arcadia is risk-adverse. The Cavalier, Low-Viz 1S, VF-X were all limited runs and even then at least one hit the bargain bin. I could have sworn I read a post with the opinion that Arcadia is akin to a garage kit manufacturer but I can't find it to give credit to the poster. When Yamato first launched that's exactly how HLJ listed their products. I'd argue that Arcadia is way more garage kit maker than Yamato ever was. Let them offer same items at a lower price point, Apple does it, automakers do it, it gives consumers choices on said product. Bells and whistles cost money, some companies can afford to include them at "no" extra cost to the consumer, other companies have to pass that cost along. And guaranteed if people stop buying in an effort to force Arcadia's hand, they'll just exit the Macross market. I honestly dig what Arcadia is doing, they're not trying to go toe-to-toe with Bandai, they're making essentially passion project items for fans, and for a small operation that costs money, especially if the only selling point is nostalgia of older Macross series/movies/OVAs. -b.

Yamato went out of business mass producing Valkyries and Destroids and all manner of fan favorites, and generally speaking we rewarded their endeavors by waiting for $150 releases to hit the bargain bin. Arcadia is a byproduct of the lessons they learned after Yamato folded. That doesn't mean that this is some sort of comeuppance for fans, but rather an evolution of their business practices reborn in Arcadia. I don't feel like I've been fooled or had the wool pulled over my eyes at all. Like with any product I consume, I vote with my wallet by buying what I want, when I want. I know exactly what I'm getting, why I'm paying more versus the "regular" release and I make a choice to purchase or not. Not foolery, trickery or other corporate malfeasance involved. Honestly Arcadia is giving fans a choice, buy the regular version that they can produce at a cost that allows them to turn a profit, or buy the dressed up version for more, in which case I'm sure Arcadia is also making a buck. Better for them to stay in business and have only one producer of high-end Macross products. -b.

[Peacock] Battlestar Galactica (not a reboot) (2019)
Kanedas Bike replied to Mazinger's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hell, if they’re gonna remake recent SciFi then remake, or better yet refresh Babylon 5. Which was an amazing show and would look great with new CGI. “NuBSG” was decent enough, not as great as some would claim, especially the ending, but it wasn’t bad either. It just doesn’t scream for a remake or even a continuation As Deadpool in scrubs asked above, “but why” indeed. -b.- 46 replies

A Discussion - Buying Multiple Pre-Orders To Sell To Pay For Units Being Kept

A Discussion - Buying Multiple Pre-Orders To Sell To Pay For Units Being Kept
Kanedas Bike replied to sqidd's topic in Toys
Ha! For you sure, although I'm more anti-greedy POS than anything else. That's the thing, with regards to many Bandai items you really can't. Don't forget that there are a lot of collectors that have limited disposable income for something like this. And it's one thing to be simply priced out of the market, it's another when something that should be affordable, isn't, because of scalping. Indeed, but me thinks there is enough ire to go around. Bandai for their seemingly asinine go-to-market strategy and those that only buy up product with the expressed purpose of gouging those that actually want said product. Many scalpers in the truest sense of the word really could care less about Macross or Gundam, they just buy the coveted items to sell at a mark-up. This is supposed to be a fun hobby right? I just want to enjoy my toys without having to pay double the manufacturer's asking price. -b. -

No such thing as nuance huh? There are plenty of things about capitalism that are inherently bad, greed and what people are willing to do to one another do in the pursuit of more come to mind. I mean, just look at the income gap between the truly wealthy and those that can barely afford to live. Do I enjoy the benefits of living in today's capitalist society? Yes, absolutely. Are there things about said society that are amazing? Yes, absolutely. Are there things about said society that are just plain ugly? Yes, absolutely. To be honest, I can easily see how a person could draw that conclusion based on the things that you post. And I read waaaay more than I post. That doesn't mean that you will, or will not do a "thing", just that I could see how someone could draw the conclusion. I'm sure one or two here and there have formed opinions about me, right or wrong there's no skin off of my nose. But you opened up the conversation, don't be mad at folks for forming an opinion. No need to go full-on "say it to my face" to make your point. -b. -
Still up too. I'd be highly annoyed if I was one of the ones that had their last order cancelled just to see this pop up again (caveat that we didn't really get a lot of details from the one report we had earlier in this thread). -b.

Me too! I've found some real gems from time to time. Fortunately I already have this bird and don't need another. But... Same! Part of me is a little worried for those that are buying because the limit is set for 20 per person. Hopefully someone didn't list this accidentally and HLJ can fulfill any orders received. -b.

Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015

Fair, it'll also depend on the quality of this particular 0D when it's released. If it turns out to be a dud that'll be a whole other discussion re: resell value. -b. -
Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015

Hopefully for as close to retail as possible, that way the folks that buy up stock just for the purpose of selling down the line at an insane profit margin, can't. -b. -

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next

Looking forward to getting my MP-44 from Amazon, they have the release date as tomorrow (Saturday, 08/31). Not stoked about the price tag, but I've had every regular (either Takara or Hasbro) iteration of the Masterpiece Primes so I'm taking the plunge...again. -b.- 16945 replies

Honestly, before this exact moment I've never even heard of "Gary Stu". Ever. My point is that in my opinion among "true" Star Wars fans Rey receives an incredibly undue amount of animosity (to put it mildly) based on how good/powerful/liked/whatever she is. And that her abilities whether they be force-wielding, flying the Falcon, whatever are hardly unique in Star Wars lore, yet somehow the character gets nailed right to the wall. I mean common, little 9 year old Anakin won a pod race, blew up a bunch of fighters and a Trade Federation capital ship. And I say this as someone who didn't care then, don't care now, I also never really cared or gave much thought into Luke's time training with Yoda. It just wasn't important to my enjoyment. But when people cry bloody murder about Rey it makes me think back and wonder where all these folks where when the other Skywalkers (yes, I know what I just said) where doing all the incredible sh!t that they did. I dunno, obviously I like Rey as a character. I feel like the real missed opportunities are with Finn and Poe, either of which if they died I probably wouldn't care all that much. Mostly because Finn is written as useless and Poe as an ace fighter hasn't spent any appreciable time in an X-Wing since The Force Awakens. Never gonna happen. I mean even at the end of the trailer you have her theme music playing ("The Scavenger"). In my opinion the only true "will it, or won't it" is if Kylo turns to the Light Side of the Force. -b.

Can I just thank you for saying "...godmode chosen one isn't a fighter pilot this time". One of the main complaints leveled against Rey as a protagonist, and make no mistake that's what she is and will end up as at the end of Rise of Skywalker, is that she's a Mary Sue. As if Luke and Anakin weren't the exact same thing. But you know you just called it because "good will always triumph because evil is dumb". -b.
