And...I just got this from AmiAmi w/regards to when they think they'll have more available; Hello, Thank you for your mail. Pre-orders for the item you are inquiring about are, unfortunately, sold out at the moment. Because of this our store cannot accept any further orders for it at this time. We currently do not know when or if we will be receiving restocks of that item, and as such are unfortuantely unable to give any information regarding that possibility right now. We do apologize for the inconvenience caused by this, but due to the fast-paced nature of the hobby industry many items are made in small quantities and quickly sell out. We thank you for your kind understanding regarding this, as well as your patronage of our store. Please let us know if you have any other questions at all. Best regards, AmiAmi So sad. -b.

Shameless plug - there's one on eBay right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamato-Macross-DYRL-1-60-VE-1-Elint-Seeker-/220948151442?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3371893c92 -b.

Like a few others have said I've shed all but (1) of my 1/48 (a MIB Low Vis v1) in favor of the 1/60 v2. If a particularly interesting scheme was released then I'd be tempted, but the 1/60 scale suits my tastes and current space limitations just fine. -b.

This is the type of conversation that makes me happy AND sad that the Locke & Key pilot didn't get picked up. Re: TWD, I've never read the Walking Dead books, I think I was away from collecting when the series launched and it never caught my eye until the show was announced. The fact that I'm enjoying the show, even with the valid criticisms of the behavior of some of the characters, makes me happy I hadn't read the books. This way I don't have any real beef if and when the show deviates from the comics (in a way that I would potentially disapprove of). -b.

Very cool - thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see what your build looks like as it should be a nice compliment to your awesome VF-1J custom. -b.

Besides the obvious chunky/stubby factor the other obvious "thing" that jumps out at me from that comparison picture is that either the v1 is starting to yellow like mine did or it was had non-matching, off-white, pieces from jump. And I'm having a hard time deciding which of those is the worst option. Version 2 on the other hand sure does look good. -b.

Picked mine up from USPS earlier today and just had time to take it out of the box, my first impression is "WOW". I agree that this is the VF-25 that Bandai should have come out with, but that's water under the bridge. I haven't noticed any QC issues but I also haven't transformed it yet nor did I really do a thorough examination. But so far I'm incredibly happy with how it's turned out - bring on the other variants and maybe even some non-canon paint schemes! -b.

With an avatar like yours can you blame them? Seriously though, what do we have to do to get a MP Galvatron!? -b.

Some of the licensing issues are what caused Sony to hurry up and crank out another Spider-Man movie and for Lions Gate to crank out another Ghost Rider. Something along the lines of the rights reverting back to Disney (which purchased Marvel - this year or last). But yeah the implications are pretty cool with all of the characters available in the Marvel U if Avengers turns out well from a fan/enjoyment and studio/profit perspective. -b.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My expectations are just that - mine, they shouldn't have any bearing on whether or not you like something. Do I feel the same way about DOTM as you? Nope and I gave the reasons why - it was as I expected it to be, based on previous work. You don't like the film, that's fine by me, it always was. I was just trying to illustrate, for me, how well metered expectations can help to take the sting out of the potential disappointment of whatever, in this case watching TF: DOTM. And regarding the films enjoyability, no, that's not what I meant to say. I said exactly what I wanted to so don't put words in my mouth. I could try and extrapolate that you meant to say you were just simply butt-hurt after watching it but then that would be cheapening the points you've tried to illustrate. That said you're entirely too wound-up about this whole thing, I'm going to do what you suggested, and I agreed to last page (and stick with it this time). Agree to disagree. -b. -
Wow. Thanks for helping to clarify my point Raptor One. -b.

Ditto - looks great! Do you have anything lined up with the newer 1/60 (version 2) or do you only receive requests for the 1/48? -b.

Have they announced a running time for this yet? I'm going back to someone's comment about whether or not Whedon is up to the task of directing all of these personalities and/or being able to put together a good ensemble movie with basically a group of "alphas". One way this can be accomplished is with a decent running time to allow for the story and characters to gel. -b.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Man, you're still missing my point. All I'm saying, or asking, is what did you expect out of Transformers 3? You think it's has major flaws, and so do I along with most people. I'm only saying, or again asking, is why are you shocked by this? And in my head when I broached the subject of expectations I thought I was offering up a way you could have lessened your disappointment by stating that had you expected the same type of movie that Bay has always put out, from Armageddon, the two Bad Boy movies, The Rock, Transformers, Transformers: ROTF, etc., etc., then what you saw the other day would not have put you out as much as it did. Now what I enjoy in a movie does not have to equal what you or anyone else does as I like some really good (universally excepted) and some really bad (universally panned) movies - but I do my best to set my expectations accordingly. Am I still really disappointed and pleasantly surprised? Absou-frickin-lutely - but more often than not I get what I paid for. Take all of that for it for what it's worth but really I wish you'd stop implying that I'm trying to defend this movie from you, or slam you for not liking it as much as me or anyone else may have, 'cause that's not what I've been doing. -b. -
The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
With all due respect, you're missing my point from start to finish. First, I never said I was stoked. The movie was EXACTLY as I expected it to be, a big, over the top, silly popcorn movie based on a 20 + year old property about transformable alien robots. You expected something more and were let down. That's the crux of your beef with the movie and apparently with my contention that had you not gone looking for Shakespeare you might not feel so wronged by the experience of watching it. But yep, let's agree to disagree. -b. -
The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I do not contend that lowered expectations automatically make a movie, or "thing" better. What I am contending is that based on Bay's track record overall, and how the first two Transformer movies turned out why would one expect anything different? The filmmakers said "Hey, we know part 2 sucked story-wise and we swear we're going to do better for the third installment". Based on your own post and experience with the movie it doesn't appear that they did a very good job at that. The point I keep trying to make is that you had higher expectations and I think you shouldn't have. Would that have made a bad movie better for you? Maybe, maybe not, but there wouldn't be this supreme disappointment that you communicated in your earlier post. You expected a "good film". I expected a "Michael Bay film". Read into that what you will, but I'm not referring to just who directed the movie. Whose expectation was more in-line with reality? -b. -
The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's a movie about alien transformable robots, not a contest about them. As much as you can't wrap your brain around how dumb some of the plot points were (or lack of plot, character development, special effects, on and on and on) I can't wrap my brain around why anyone expected anything different from the movie. -b. -

...so then from a logical stand-point, or for a sense of continuity bring back Bay and set expectations accordingly. -b. -

Too funny. When (not if) the 4th movie is green-lit and if Bay doesn't return I can't wait to see what the new complaints will be (and how valid they'll be). -b. -

Shakes head in bewilderment at Twinkle Sparkle... I'm sure there are all types of extremes someone could go thru to try and keep an item looking brand new forever, and again it just depends on what level you're willing to take it to. Ex. if you are bagging sticker sheets then it means your item is no longer sealed so where you going for a "MISB" type preservation, I played with it but it still looks brand-spanking new, or something else? I think your best bet is to just treat the toy like an adult collector (whatever that means to you) and it will last as long as it will last. -b.
