The MW Automotive Thread 5.0 GT
Kanedas Bike replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey David, My overall impression so far is very positive, the car drives and handles just the way I'd expect, and want it to. Acceleration and handling are great and I'm still learning how to drive so that I maximize fuel economy. I'm actually excited to be getting between 18 and 19 mpg City ( ). The car sits on Micheline tires (I forget the trim) and the ride is very smooth. The Solara initially came with Michelin and of all the tires I've owned over the years they've always driven the best. From a materials and fit and finish standpoint I'm also pretty happy. Considering that Ford isn't a luxury brand, even with the SHO being the flagship car I feel like I bought a very high quality car for the price. I opted for the extra 402A package which gives rear view camera, HD Radio, heated/cooled front seats, Sony audio (meh), Park Assist, and some other this and that. From what I remember standard options the SHO offers over the SE, SEL or Limited were noticeable, but when you factor in the performance bump the price seems reasonable (but that's very subjective). Given the fact that I had my last car for over 13 years reliability is key for me, but I'm not planning on keeping this as my primary car for longer than 5 or 6 years. So fingers firmly crossed that she holds up. It also helps that I get a LOT of compliments on the car, but it is Detroit and there are still lot of die-hard American car loyalists in and around the city. *the car is also very much a full sized sedan - she's really big **people might also find the cabin crowded because of how the dash is laid out, but I'm not that tall/big of a guy so I'm pretty comfy ***One knock is braking from high speeds, I can feel some nasty vibration when braking at unlawfully speeds ***I swear I'm not a Ford or car salesman There are a lot of SHO's and various Dodge and Chrysler SRT8's on the road up here, but I swear they're mostly driven by auto-execs. -b. -

At $ 500 or less sure, but $ 800 for a cool (articulated or not) statue - pass. And on that note, any chances that Hasbro will do another run of the MP-10? Would love to get my hands on one at, or as close to retail as possible. -b.- 16945 replies

Don't pop into this thread very often as I'm not a true "car guy", but when I was in the market to replace my '99 Toyota Camry Solara (SLE V6) I knew I wanted a sedan with muscle after driving a touring coupe for so long. My initial "money is no object" want was the 2014 IS 350, but I couldn't get accurate pricing since the launch was mid-summer and considering how quickly I wanted to purchase I moved on to plan B. So, I ended up purchasing a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO. I know the two don't compete and aren't really in the same car segment, but the SHO fit my overall want of a sedan with "punch" AND I was able to get Z Plan pricing and after doing a little research I opted to move forward. I've had the car for about 3 1/2 months and besides the truly horrible gas mileage (not really complaining, I knew what I was getting into, but the shock from the Solara to this was a bit much at first) I love it. Here are a few camera phone snaps from earlier today, taken on Belle Isle. Anyone in the Metro Detroit area will have heard of it. Never thought I buy American again, but I'm glad that I did. *and yes, I put the ME vinyl stickers (N7 on the rear windshield + Renegade and Paragon icons on the driver and passenger side rear windows) - because I'm a nerd. -b. -
Max! Agreed, nice start. -b.

LOL - agreed, but even in that vain he ended up being typecast. As a mentor in Star Wars, Batman Begins, Kingdom of Heaven and now as James Bond for the over 60 demographic. *Honestly don't even remember him playing anything other than a mentor or "seasoned" spy-type. *not entirely true, Darkman, A-Team, the Titans movies, Battleship - some of which could also be considered typecast rolls for him -b.

Got it, thanks for confirming. I guess I'm "glad" that it's not just me. Hopefully both orders ship out sooner vs. later. Great news, I've also had no issues with any of my renewals and knock on wood nothing with either of my CF 171's (but I've only transformed them once from Fighter to Battroid). It also bears repeating that the customization work you do on these releases from the stripes on the 25A to the weathering on other models is awesome. -b.

Anyone else still waiting on shipping confirmation from NY for their 25A(s)? I paid the same day that I received the initial payment request. -b.

Just came from an IMAX 3D viewing and was blown away. I absolutely loved it and probably the best film I've seen in a long time (my taste varies from pure B movie foolishness to, well this). There were a few parts that I actually moved my head to avoid what was being shown in 3D, the first time that's ever happened. Was surprised that a couple of people I know, whose opinion I greatly respect didn't like this film at all, but I thought it was amazing. Now I NEED a 3D TV in anticipation of the Blu-ray release. -b.

Man...wish I hadn't looked at those pics, with the painted stripes it looks so much better. Jealous MW member is jealous. -b.

Really appreciate you asking all of these questions and then providing the answers. Very cool to see the updates and what may, or may not, happen based on what Mr. K replies. PS - fingers crossed, kidney sold and wish placed upon a star for either or (but especially both) of the Minmay schemes. -b.

nope and the above is a 1/72 scale model -b.

Looks great! Was always tempted to try customizing any of my Valks (regardless of company). One of these days I'll get inspired and/or brave enough to try it out, until then I'll just look at all kick ass pictures. -b.

Wait, as actual gimmicks or is there some issue with the Play Arts Kai figures where folks have ended up with broken shoulders (or other pieces)? -b.
-
Good, was thinking the same thing as I looked at the pictures you initially posted. Yours appeared to have been taken in natural sunlight and look more brown whereas TCracker's first set(s) were under artificial lighting and have the green hue that everyone is noticing. Either way I'm still happy to have made the purchase, can't wait for mine to arrive so that I can judge the color in person. -b.

Great pics! I can't wait to get a shipping notice from one, but hopefully all, of the places I ordered from. They (collectively) will be one of my b-day gifts to myself. -b.

Actually watched most of the Talking Dead after last night's episode and that gets answered (supposedly) very quickly next episode. I'm looking forward to this season, hopefully it lives up to the expectations that were set by the Executive Producer (forgot his name) during the same Talking episode. -b.

Re: the Play Arts figures the silver does look better than the black, but they both look good. Looking forward to picking them up. -b.

Awesome pictures, thank you for sharing. I'm in the same boat as others in wishing, or hoping, that the actual color is darker than what's been appearing in pictures but even if the lighter shade is accurate to how it appears I still think it looks great and I'll probably pick up at least one more before I'm done. -b.

Really happy that the Masterpiece line continues to do well, I would actually love if they made some characters from the 1986 movie like Kup, Springer, Arcee, Galvatron, Cyclonus, etc. Granted Optimus, Prowl, Soundwave and Grimlock were all in the film, but some of the other characters like Hot Rod/Rodimus that were created for the movie. I would also love to be able to find some of the TRU releases at an actual TRU. -b. edit for correction- 16945 replies

Here you are; http://www.nippon-yasan.com/lang-en/macross/5456-macross-f-dx-chogokin-vf-25a-messiah-valkyrie-regular.html It shows that it's not currently available for order and the price is marked up higher than those sites that others have pointed out and that you've found yourself. Just paid for my pre-order and finally received confirmation about my order of Armored Parts for the 171 regular/cannon-fodder. Still have one open pre-order with NY and hopefully that goes smoothly, otherwise between the markups and this last issue I'm done w them. -b.

The first thing I thought when I saw the pics above; sexy. Makes me want to order another. -b.
