Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
Yeah...at this point I'm just going to agree to disagree about how well, or not, the VF-0D will sell. With my position that Arcadia will produce enough to meet initial demand with very, very small over run and that these will not be readily available for long amounts of time (a la Arcadia YF-19 which is sold out and never stayed available for very long or went on deep discount). Though, to add another dimension to the discussion I don't think the price will increase like the VF-4G on the secondary market, at least no time soon. -b. *edit to add That there is a difference between "web or other exclusive" - VF-4G, VF-X and "made to order" - Arcadia YF-19, Arcadia Roy VF-1S and Hikaru VF-1S. Since anecdotal evidence is needed ( ). Also, N-Y marked up the price of the YF-19 to 36,500 JPY over the SRP of 32,800 JPY, something they only do for items in high demand or limited stock. In my opinion general release should not be used as a phrase to illustrate that the VF-0D will be produced in some unsustainable mass quantity leading to stock overages. This thing will be made to fill retailer orders + small extra. Why in the world would Arcadia print a gazillion of them fresh off of Yamato's failure for doing just that? It just makes no sense. -
Yep, I just posted about this over in the Collectibles Market Watch thread. -b.

Macross Collectibles Market Watch - Current Auction/Store SOLD prices

Crazy! http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1304294.html $ 300 for unopened VF-25S Renewal Armor Parts. Guessing the price will continue to go up the closer we get to the 25S re-release date. -b. -
Never finished the first season, didn't really keep up with the show at all besides catching snippets here or there. And now this season has clowns right? Noooooopppppppppppppppppppppppeeeee. No thank you. Hate clowns, creepy ones the most. -b.

Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
It's all good, I'm still not going to take your Valkyries, buy one or two some day in the future, sure. No doubt people want a deal (you and I counted among them) but waiting for a larger discount on pre-order isn't the same as willing to bet (no pun intended) that the VF-0D will be sitting around months after release like the 30th Anniversary VF-1J. The Fire VF-19 will probably warm shelves but that's because you can still find first releases on the cheap. Just look at the often maligned YF-19, nowhere to be found on sale or warming the shelf the 0D will absolutely follow that same pattern of being gone immediately or very soon after release (made to order based on retailer volume, not per person). The only way I can see it not selling out is if Arcadia produces way more than what retailers have ordered and there's nothing to suggest that they will. Not going to touch the poll aspect except to say that it's way too unscientific to follow and anecdotally people tend to say one thing and then act another. Besides what about the Japanese fans that account for the bulk of the business, they're not here to vote. -b. -
Same here - LOL. But I'm not kidding, and even then it may stay boxed. I'm really not that big a fan of the 171 and I'm good with the RVF-25 as my Macross Frontier radome fix. -b.

That review gives some REALLY high praise. I'll be looking forward to the scene that he compares to a similar scene from Collateral. -b.- 220 replies

@ Ignacia Ocamica - very nice case, can't wait to see pictures once you have everything situated @ wmkjr - really nice shots and awesome use of the Yeti Stands -b. -
Good question! I've never seen anyone talk about wanting to, it's either been folks (like myself) that live with it or those that have removed it. Might be good to pose that in one of the threads where folks customize their Valkyries post - not sure if they peek their heads in this thread or not. -b.
-
Exactly and I don't expect that we will. Besides the fact that I think Marvel/Disney will continue to put talent in and around the show + the fact (or really my opinion) that Whedon involved or run shows get better as they go. -b.

Not a huge fan of DC properties so hopefully this doesn't read as I want DC to take it to Marvel because I don't. But I think they deserve some credit for finally trying to put together a cohesive strategy instead of random movies that don't (or didn't) interconnect. Mind you, I'm not talking about content or quality of said content, but I think laying a foundation, even this late in the game, is a good thing for them. And anything that gets rid of some of their other, truly awful movies gets an A for effort in my book. -b.
-
Makes sense. Good for DC/Warner Brothers for laying out a release road-map, they need to have a cohesive strategy if they want their comic book properties to gain any type of traction on the big screen, especially in a "one-universe" setting. Still best of luck trying to go head-to-head with Marvel/Disney. -b.

Fair question. It's normal for those releases, they came with what was coined a "rainbow tinted" canopy, used on earlier releases of the second version of Yamato VF-1's. Some people have seen that tint crack (none of mine have yet) and some have removed it (not sure if they used rubbing alcohol or not). But if yours isn't cracking then you can leave as is and enjoy your new Valk. -b.

Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
And that's the point David, that Arcadia is not going to produce as many VF-0D's as other variants (and especially not as many VF-1's). And I'm willing to bet while this isn't an made-to-order release Arcadia is going to produce enough to cover retailer orders and a small extra. There simply won't be enough left around to warm the shelf. And since I love a good bet, but don't want to lose or take a Valkyrie ( ) let's just call it a gentleman's wager and see how it turns out. This was also around the time that 90% of Yamato releases ended up on sale, because they'd produced so many of any one variant and pushed out new releases at an almost break neck pace. The conventional thinking at the time was that the 4G would end up on the bargain bin just like other releases - and with that, why pay suggested retail when you could just wait for the bottom to fall out and pick it up cheap. I know that's why I didn't initially buy an SDF-1. That and MW members have a tendency to talk one way and then do something completely different, so my reaction to the results of polls around here range from "LOL" to "Yeah Right". -b. -
Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
Color me confused, I thought everyone said the YF-19 was not made to order (I thought it was but I'm sure someone at some point corrected me). And in Skull is correct that the VF-4G had a few different pre-order windows and I was one that got in on the last one at HLJ. The 4G shot up in price like most other Yamato's because there was uncertainty about the company's future. Not sure about the number produced, but Yamato stated from jump it was made to order and those orders opened up at least (3) times at HLJ - I don't recall what happened at any other stores. Either way it didn't sit around at primary stores like HLJ, AmiAmi, Hobby Search and I firmly believe that the VF-0D will not warm shelves either. Availability at places like Mandarake and Jungle speak more about how many folks were ready to turn around and sell the ones they purchased. -b. -
I WON'T It was pretty obvious what was going to happen in that scenario though. All that talk about "good people" not being able to do what it takes to survive in Zombieland. -b.

Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
That's kind of a rich bet buddy, throw in a VF-1A Cavaliers and you're on! Exactly. And it's not like the Arcadia YF-19 was as well received as Yamato's VF-4G, but more likely it was produced in very conservative numbers. LOL - agreed! -b. -
Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
Kanedas Bike replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
Arcadia is going to make just enough of these to meet demand, and not much more than that. There won't be any left over to warm the shelves anymore than the YF-19 did. Gone are the days of 15K production runs (or whatever constituted a normal mass produced item for Yamato). And this, there is held-over demand for the VF-0D. I looked at that old MW thread for the VF-0A/S and the first few pages are full of w00t, now I can't wait for the 0D. No way this will warm shelves. I bet one of David's extra Yamato VF-1S's that he loves so much. -b.
