The 5 Deadly Venoms!
terry the lone wolf replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You should check out "The Kid with the Golden Arm". It's like Crippled Avengers in that the Venoms return. The story is that the head of escort service hires some of the best martial artists to protect this gold shipment for these famine victims. Lo Meng (Toad from the Venoms and the deaf mute from Crippled Avengers) is Golden Arm leader of Chi Sa gang & the Seven Hooks who plans to steal the gold and eliminate the heroes. Golden Arm is very similar to the Toad where his arms can destroy any weapon. Agent Hi To (Phillip Kwok, Lizard from the Venoms and the blind man from Crippled Avengers) is enlisted by the gov't to destroy the gang and protect the gold. He has a very unusual style of kung fu where he really gets drunk and is unbeatable.kidwiththegoldenarm -

Still, I like the issue covers and their pretty realistically drawn characters. Makes them look much more "human" and believable than a lot of other comic incarnations that I've seen of them. Sean Chen is credited with pencils; did he do the covers as well? 405519 Yeah, I believe he did and his artwork is amazing.- 557 replies

That's X-Men: The End series written by X-God Chris Claremont (please get well Chris; all my best to his family). It's part of Marvel's The End line with Punisher, Wolverine, and soon Fantastic Four. They're supposed to be the very last adventures of these heroes. X-Men was planned as a trilogy of 18 books broken up in three groups of six.- 557 replies

I like All-Star Bats; it's really a prequel to the Dark Knight Returns/Strikes Back. It's a really a slow pace story but enjoyable. The first arc's about the origin of the Batman & Robin team. Just after the deaths of Dick's parents Batman rescues him from dirty cops trying to shut Dick up because he's a witness. So Bats & Dick are in a high speed chase with the police enroute to the Batcave.- 557 replies

When he's fighting iceman, you can clearly see he has a lighter of some sort attached to the underside of his writst. 405073 Well Pyro can't make fire; he can only manipulate it. That's the reason he had the lighter. -

Not necessarily, because I remember in the 90's X-men cartoon, Wolverine had a short term relation with her and then eventually got married to her. 404807 STORM IS NOT ASEXUAL! I REPEAT; STORM IS NOT ASEXUAL! A short list of Storm's boyfriends: a) Black Panther (whom very soon she'll be married to.) b)Forge c)Dracula (long story) d) Shadow King (another long story) e) Horus (Egyptian God) f) Arkon (Alien Dictator) g) Quicksilver (Age of Apocylypse) Also in a few Alternate realities, Storm either married or dated Wolverine & Gambit. In the ninties cartoon Storm married Wolvie in a AU show because Xavier was killled and it changed time. In the movies they don't exploit Halle's sex appeal buy giving her character a real boyfriend and that's a real shame. -

Well, you're probably right. It just irks me a little that they went the "cost savings" route with the sentinel and having the Phoenix just sport dark contact lenses. I'm not exactly sure how Prof. X funds the school and everything else. I ocassionally check out some of the summaries out on the web, but I'm not sure if this was ever addressed in the comic books.........I'd like to think he used his mutant powers to make himself a nice little pile of cash. ["A $10,000 check would be very generous, Mr. Senator." ] .....All this thinking about X3 made me rewatch X2 last night. Damn, it's just such a great movie!! From Nightcrawler cutting loose in the beginning all the way to the Phoenix appearing in the water, X2 was a pitch-perfect example of what a comic book movie adaptation should be like. 404767 The Prof's family is rich. The X-Mansion is his family estate. -

First Look At Appleseed Sequel

I liked the 1st Appleseed movie and yes a few of the characters (especially Duenan) were a little out of character but I didn't mind too much. The promotional piece looks tight though. -

SPOILER! I don't think much damage was done at all as far as killing characters. We find out Xavier is alive albeit in another body. Most likey from Magneto's last scene, we find out the cure is only temporary. We never see Cyclops die, we're only told he did, they never found him. He could very well come back in a future movie and they could explain his disappearance on being in a "telekinetic coma" or something like that. The only real death as far as I'm concerned was Jean Grey. And I thought it was done well. I really enjoyed the ending with Wolverine taking her out. It was emotionally moving IMO. After all, these are comic book movies. People die and come back all the time. 403044 You're right we never truly see Cyclops die & astral body Xavier could be in younger body(maybe paving the way for him to walk again). Oh, what could Phoenix do(I mean besides destroying planets and eating suns); she could ressurect herself. So, there's always hope. BTW, wasn't Kelsey pretty good as the Beast. "Oh my stars & garters!" -

I watched it, but the quality wasn't good enough for me to figure out what was going on... Can someone explain to me: Who was the guy on the bad? He said "hello Lora"(?) What's special about that? Thanks 403039 He said Moira. Moira Mactaggart was Charles's fmr. love and his confidant in anything mutant related. Charles was in war service in Ireland where he dated Moira. When Charles went back to war she sent him a dear john letter. She was was also head of mutant research on Muir Island in Ireland. When Charles was giving a class(Jubilee was sitting in front; much too short of an appearence) he played video with Moira appearing. She was the mother of reality warping mutant Proteus & she had a long romantic relationship with Sean "Banshee" Cassidey. -

The new Batwoman that'll debut in a july issue of 52 is...............................KATHY KANE! Yes, Kathy Kane the same as the 1950's Silver Age character that was retconned out of existance because of the original Crisis. DC describes her as a buxom lipstick lesbian with ties to fmr. Gotham City Detective Renee Montoya.- 557 replies

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
terry the lone wolf replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
A teeny, weeny spoiler alert! It was too rushed with too many subplots & very little characterization. Mixing the Dark Phoenix saga with the Leech story was a mistake. I liked that Ratner added key X-Men tidbits like Jean holding back Scott's optic blasts with her tk, Beast reading upside down, and Wolvie leading a bunch of junior X-Men into battle. Characters like Callisto & Spike(?) needed more face time. The Dark Phoenix story was a let down and the Leech story had potential but it really didn't live up to it. I liked the action & the all the one liners but was the deaths of three key characters really necessary? BTW, I saw the ending and man was that a let down. -
