New Star Trek Movie In 2009..
terry the lone wolf replied to bandit29's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Liked it but too many scenes of Kirk getting his A** handed to him. The cadets, Spock, Nero, and even Nero's henchman was beating him down. Where was Kirk's left hook and leaping kicks? Don't get me wrong I really liked the film but Chris Pine needs that good old Shatner swagger. -

Kanye West is a fan of Robotech; he even designed his shoes based on RT and Back to the Future. http://www.kanyelive.com/category/interview -

Max didn't make an appearance but his daughter Maia did. Only an older Rick was the only Macross saga character to appear. Though Vince Grant could be considered a Macross era person because of his appearances in the 1st two Wildstorm mini-series. -

They should've kept it YF-1R; sounds more experimental and more special to the other Valks. -

Yeah I have this in my Protoculture collection; I always knew of the alternate ending of RT: The Movie commisioned by HG. When I was reviewing the extras and found this I was pleasantly surprised. Though, I wonder why in the animatic they show Mark in a hover vehicle and not the Modat 6 fighting B.D. Except for that the animatic it's still pretty close to the finish product. It doesn't seem like HG has any ownership over the animation because Victor or the Idol company has released it on a few MZ23 special editions. -
I didn't think there was a problem with character designs in Plus..... Listen, I'm a big Hal fan from way back but his designs on Macross 7 was very uninspired and lack that flair of his Macross and Orguss work. What happen to those marble eyes?

Transformers: Animated
terry the lone wolf replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's funny...I started this thread to trash this version of those Robots in Disguise that we all love but I too became a fan. The writing of this show was really impressive especially compared to the TF series we had to endure since the cancellation of Beast Machines. I put TFA up their with G1, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines (I would've added G2 but they didn't have animated series but a kick *** comic book). I'm sad to here this is the end of a really great show. -

I think that scene was on the remastered set. It was pretty bloody. -

New England, huh? Robotech was on the air on WBFF 45 in Baltimore and WDCA 20 in Washington D.C. At the same time.. I feel people use Force Five to put down Robotech because their cartoons weren't connected but to me I like the generational aspect of RT. It did allow you to see the future even if you didn't seen the fates of other characters. -
I'm happy to say I've seen EVERY version of Macross. I might have not watched every episode of Mac 7 but I've seen enough to know what's up. Though, the games are a different story; I've played SDF Macross for the NES/Famicom and Scramble Valkyrie for the Super NES. I haven't played the PCEngine games, Macross M3, or even the PS2 Macross game.

Too bad I've never seen Force Five...Oh, that's right...It came on Showtime premium cable channel not the UHF that Robotech landed on..So which series had the most impact on early anime watchers?.. -

I understand your point about the Macross mecha being different than the Southern Cross ones. Maybe it was the conceit of Macek and his crew that people wouldn't notice that but at the time he was right. In Malcontent Uprisings both Macross Valkyries and Southern Cross Spartas were used so the story wasn't about the transition of vehicles but the transition of power. -

Hasbro's subsidiary Claster or Sunbow I'm sure fronted the money but Marvel already a established a relationship with Toei Daga with the live action Japanese Spider-Man and Battle (Japanese version of Captain America). Listen, when HG's own toy maker supporter Matchbox dropped out they lost the funding alas no series. -

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... This almost sounds like when Marvel Animated studios were farming out Spider Friends, Transformers, and G.I. Joe to Toei Daga Studios back in the 80's. Just like a bunch of other American studios that was farming out to Japan back in the 80's. -

I don't know how long they worked on the designs but a lot of them ended up in Zillion. -

Wanna see Logan's early days in Japan learning to be a samurai? Fox & Jackman's Seed Productions are planning a sequel that will cover that. http://www.newsarama.com/film/050905-Wolverine2.html
