  1. Shadow Chronicles is an Anime & it's also an OAV. In Japan Anime is a broad term that encompasses many animated shows; I.E. Batman & Spawn would be considered anime there. Only in the west we tend to marginalize it to a sub-culture niche set. Just because it was animated in Korea and paid for by Americans deems it not a anime? I don't agree with that especially since most animes are animated in Korea, Taiwan, and even China nowadays. The only difference being that these productions are paid by Japanese firms. Please stop with the Robotech is bootleg of Macross. With that logic Voltron is a bootleg of Golion or Starblazers is a bootleg of Yamato, etc, etc, etc,.... Robotech is a product of the early 80's anime boom with western companies grabbing up inexpensive animated programs from Japan for broadcast in the U.S. Yes most of these were horribly edited or even translated but I feel RT did fare better than most.
  2. You're wrong Seto; Claudia's brother Vince Grant was in "From the Stars" and the "Love & War" comics and not his son Bowie. This was to set up Vince as a Macross era character (and not just a Sentinels one) and to explain his appearance as a high ranking member of Hunter's Earth Reclamation forces. I thought it was Anatole Leonard; I've never heard of Eli.
  3. So if it's not HG then the culprit is the Toho Company. I found the list of the anime titles they distributed in Japan and the ones they gave to western companies for the U.S. market. Macross: Do You Remember Love's American distributor was listed as Celebrity and Lensman was Streamline. Now I know this is just too, too easy but does Toho still retain their distribution for DYRL? It would seem to me that BW, Tatsunoko, & HG need to talk to them to clear up who has distribution rights. http://www.tohokingdom.com/anime_list.htm http://www.tohokingdom.com/anime/macross84.htm
  4. Best Film & Video Corp. out of Hicksville, NY distributed Super Space Fortress Macross in the 90's but that company went belly up. All those titles distributed by Celebrity's Just for Kids went to them to be sold uncut in various comic book stores. I heard online that HG was secretly behind Best Film & Video Corp. Is that true?
  5. I wonder if HG would've took a more active role with Palladium in the creation of the RPGs would there still be tracing of established Macross art. Or was the Macross art too good to pass up? Didn't HG receive line art designs from Tatsunoko?
  6. The Sentinel flight suit always looked like a cheap DYRL style suit to me.
  7. In my perfect ALTERNATE UNIVERSE: Robotech the Movie would've been a runaway hit, The Sentinels would've aired for a full season, Tatsunoko's designs for Robotech 3000 would've been animated, & Phoebe Cates would've played Lynn Minmay in live action Robotech movie...
  8. She's a Sterling and daughter to Max Sterling who married a Zentraedi so I think it's safe to assume she's half Zentraedi.
  9. BTW just what kind of alien is Maia half of? They were never clear in the RTSC, surely she can't be part Zentradi like those Macross child pornstars like Ranka, Klan Klan, and Mylene? Yes, she's half Zentradi and the 2nd daughter & possibly 3rd child of Max & Miriya Sterling.
  10. MACROSS FRONTIER IS NOT CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.... Ok now, I've watched the show subbed and I never had the impression that Ranka was being exploited or being too sexual. Actually Nanase and Sheryl were the ones that fit that bill but in a tongue in cheek sort of way. Ranka was more like Mao Nome in Macross Zero, a girl that had to grow up fast because of the circumstances of her life. When Ranka matured from having Sheryl as her sempai to becoming her rival she had to change. This is a recurring theme in Japanese anime: The young grow up fast.. Now Doug, I assume you like the Macross Saga portion of RT. You do remember Minmay's shower scene? Do you consider that child pornography? Or is it your dislike for Frontier that makes you feel that way.
  11. I never heard of HG ever being credited with being the 1st U.S. company to import anime but they were the first not to treat as merely kid's stuff. Characters drank alchol, bedded each other, and eventually died. This was not swept under the rug like Voltron or The Battle of the Planets shows were. RT was good Science Fiction for a children's market. There was a reason the College crowd picked up on it. It was for that time pretty innovative for a kid's cartoon. I don't see a big problem in HG's marketing of RT because the anime market of the 80's America hadn't matured to what it became during the 90's.
  12. Originally, World Events planned on importing and dubbing Albegas as Gladiator Voltron but Vehicle Voltron aka Dairugger XV did so bad they decided on commissioning Toei to do a season of Lion Voltron exclusive to the western market. This package also included the "The Fleet of Doom" crossover.
  13. Tommy Yune & the Comico/CO2 guys at the Robotech panel at Zenkaikon: http://www.co2comics.com/blog/
  14. CO2 Comics.com started by former Comico guys who did the RT comics back in the day will celebrate the 25th anniversary of RT by posting art from the Genesis graphic novel and unpublished art from Svea Stauch (the artist for the 1st and only issue of SDF Macross). Nothing's up yet except a banner: http://www.co2comics.com/
  15. Originally, Macross II: Lovers Again was promoted as a sequel to Macross: Do You Remember Love. The explanation was that it happened 80 years after the events of DYRL. In the manga adaption it starts with Minmay (and the combine U.N. Spacey & Zentradi fleets) singing the love song to defeat the forces of Gorg Bedolza. So this firmly sets it in the time line of DYRL. Now Mac 2 is relagated to alternate time line or universe status because of Studio Nue not having worked on the project and it's utter failure to re-launch the series.
  16. Is HG being deceptive about the existence of the original Japanese shows? I don't see it; back in Robotech Art 1 both Super Dimensional shows & Genesis Climber Mospeada was listed. As was the original title characters lined with their RT counter parts. Also, HG and Streamline released those RT Perfect Collections with the Japanese and American shows. Maybe HG been ambiguous about the "connection" between each but I don't see a effort to hide the originals.
  17. How do you download these; I keep getting redirected.
  18. It's from an anime top 100 Idols encyclopedia. It's from Macross Flashback 2012 but I haven't seen this particular picture around the net. Thought I should share...
