First of all I grew up in the Baltimore area and RT was shown in D.C. & Balti. at the same time. So I'm sure N.Y., L.A., and other large cities broadcasted Robotech. So this revisionist history of comparing RT to Thunderbirds 2080 or those Gaiking/Grendizer cartoons (both incidently were shown on Cable) is ridiculous. Even if some markets didn't broadcast the cartoon they still had the RPGs and novels. I also wonder why there are so many RT fan projects out there if hardly anybody watched the shows?

I believe the RT movie could be successful. Maybe because of the nostalgia of the old series and people's ignorance of the Macross litigation. When most fans remember RT it's always the Macross saga. If the LAM's script can successfully adapt the Macross story then that's all you need. Most of the mecha designs will be changed anyways. I personally wouldn't mind a superficial adaption that touches on the Macross story and not a direct adaption. I think it might be hard to make a 50ft Human look threatining so I'm hoping for a truly alien looking villain. Even DYRL revamped the Zentradi to look alienish.

I'd love to see Zoe Saldana as Claudia!

Today marks Robotech's 25th anniversary. Cheers!

The Philippines might be a "Macross" country but those toys are being sold under the Robotech moniker: http://www.jollitown.com.ph/ Go to the kids section and click on meals.

Well silly me, I'm still hoping that Warner will go to Japan and hire real mechanical designers to create mecha that logically work. Maybe Aramaki or even dare I say it Kawamori.

Isn't that from the Robotech Sourcebook?

I think the ones that are in direct competition with Shadow Chronicles. I'm not a member of the U.E.G. forum but I've browsed and there's a huge anti-HG sentiment. That's their right but when you start trashing the product that the HG owns how can you expect them to do you any favors. Hey Shadow Chronicles sucks support us we make real RT.
-
Yep! Definitely a bad ass.

The moves of HG's legal team continues to astound me. Instead of exploiting these fan's energy and bolstering interest in RT they're threatening people and continuing their bad reputation. If they really believe that Robotech is like Star Wars then they should copy the Lucas Film business model of exploiting fan's creativity. Both Paramount & Lucas Film have hosted or supported fan film festivals and even swiped a few ideas. Now on the flip side, wasn't Genesis linked with the Anti-Shadow Chronicles League whose sole purpose was to trash SC by claiming it wasn't real Robotech? Hey everybody is entitled to their opinion but wouldn't it been better for Genesis's creators if they didn't start out trashing the corporate product. That parody group who did RT 3: Not Necessarily the Sentinels was supported by HG and even screened their film at a convention.

Post Apocalyptic Movies

The Omega Man, the 1st 2 Planet of the Apes movies (the Tim Burton one doesn't exist in my reality), The Day After, Threads, The Road Warrior, The Fist of the North Star (anime not that gawd awful live action one), & 2020 Texas Gladiators. I have a copy of Kadokawa Shoten's international cut of Virus and I've yet to watch it. Has anybody seen it? I've heard some pretty good reviews on it. -
I've watched anime all my life but I learned about the word anime after I watched Robotech. RT didn't introduce anime to me just what to call it.

Military in Macross Frontier...

Thanks Sketchley for the link & everybody for the advice; this is very helpful. -
Memo, Pizza, & Bendo...I've have no love or loyalty to those guys; I read their posts on RT.com & here and I feel their ravings have hurt the RT fan base. Banning people who have a different perspective is wrong and shows you're not willing to debate. Though, I believe there are zealots on both sides; both have emotional attachment to their shows and both having valid points. I've read and seen the same interviews as Seto and I see his point. I have the interview that Macek did to sell Robotech the Movie and yes in a roundabout way it does look like the MZ23 animation was made for RT. Even the ART 1 & 2 books could give you the impression that Studio Nue was commissioned by HG. I have to play devil's advocate here; it's not Carl Macek's job to reveal all the history of RT in every interview he gives. Example: "Hey, I got this really great show. It has 80+ episodes and you know what we didn't really animate it. Nope we sure didn't. Actually we bought it from Japan.. Yes we sure did. Now you know why Keith from Voltron looks so much Mark from Battle of the Planets; they're all from a foreign country..." Carl Macek's job was to push his show which happens to utilize footage they spliced together from other shows. RT wasn't unique other animes were spiced together (Captain Harlock, Macron-1, & Voltron). Maybe it was that Japanese animation wasn't widely known in the states;they could get away with these new Franken-shows but these paved the way for the current anime market.

Military in Macross Frontier...

A friend of mine (whom I introduced Mac F too) wants to create a RPG system based on the military. I told him to try the Macross Chronicles but that book just didn't have enough info for him.. -
Also you're not ignoring the originals when Tommy Yune always begins his convention appearances with "Hey, how many of you know about Robotech? OK, how many of you know about the dirty little secret about Robotech?"

Will Big West release a detailed book of information about the military of U.N. Spacy & S.M.S?

I've always felt that Shoji Kawamori & Shinji Aramaki's names should be listed above Ippi Kurri's name on the closing credits of Robotech. I don't think that Tatsunoko Productions was putting it out there some of anime productions they were distributing didn't come from their studio. I'm not naive into believing that HG was totally ignorant of Macross's origins but I can see how names got lost in the shuffle. Though in Robotech ART 1 Shoji Kawamori was credited in creating Macross & Shinji Aramaki got a mecha creator credit in Shadow Chronicles & the Art of the Shadow Chronicles.
