  1. Nope, the Toynami Tread seemed to be a totally new design. Perhaps that's a clue to why it didn't work out... Anyway the blatant anti-Rand/Rey views of HG and Toynami aside, the choice of Sue instead of main series character smacks of similar thinking as the choice to make a Ben Dixon MPC, the ability to claim the very first version of her Cyclone produced in the world...
  2. Flashbacks to when Iron Chef was using Macross Plus music...
  3. At any rate if Toynami did get the Japanese Mospeada toy rights as reported, they would have gone to (at the time of annoucement) Tatsunoko not HG, HG still only have the outside Japan rights. But makes me wonder if they still have those rights as we only ever saw Mospeada boxed Superposables, no MPC Alphas in Japan, which could be another sign that Toynami have "discovered" that Mospeada/New Gen doesn't sell enough in their opinion to be profitable or even break even on production costs to justify further releases anywhere... As I said, what's life without hope?
  4. What is life without hope? Another vote for Mospeada
  5. It's a kitbashed Matchbox Scott. As I said before, very nice indeed
  6. If the dual language claims are correct, it would have to be something like Rhino's release of Battle of the Planets or the good olf Robotech: Perfect Collection tapes from Streamline, two episodes of the dub with the two counterpart Japanese episodes, totally seperate. I do think it's a typo, as the Australian releases from Madman Entertainment of both Lion and Vehicle Voltron on DVD last year were English only.
  7. Funimation seem to be a better chance getting it into mainstream, at least based on their relationship with Cartoon Network, than ADV at any rate.
  8. I doubt HG will release it themselves either generally or on RT.com, for much the same reason why they aren't going to ADV, they want a distributor who has wider reach beyond niche markets like anime to try and tap the "oh, I sort remember this cartoon from the 80's" market where the money is as there isn't enough existing RT fans to make it worth it...
  9. Another vote Attack Suits Valken, man those advertising models for first game back in the day were great, or if M23, Harguns. I know most people would expect I'd say Mospeada, but Yamato had years before Toynami got the rights to snap up the license, so that would indicate that they couldn't get or weren't interested in Mospeada when the rights were available...
  10. They were just the Matchbox/Playmates/Harmony Gold plastic destroids with supposedly higher details paint jobs and stickers. No official confirmation of why they were pulled, with rumors or issues with the molds to lack of interest.
  11. Actually, the right arm in that image does have a hand
  12. No, but could be the Lucas effect of combination of people awed by the guy or too scared to believe they better opinions than him...
  13. Will I have a section for Mospeada 2: Electric Boogaloo? You bet But no offense intended to those suggesting it, but there is about as much solid proof of HG's intentions of releasing Shadow Chronicles as Mospeada 2 as there is of HG releasing Macross Zero.
  14. IMO I point to more recently how much non-RT/Macross product Toynami has been released/anounced. RT is not vital for Toynami health as it once was/ever was.
  15. Each volume of the original non-boxset Japanese release of Mospeada was around $90Aus, so times 6 plus $25Aus shipping per volume... The fact I was on the dole on the time was even more disconcerting for people when I told them how much I paid for 'em
  16. It's from the opening titles of Scramble Wars, a 1992 OVA SD parody race between the various (then) Artmic characters/shows such as Mospeada, Bubblegum Crisis and Gal Force. It's most recently been released as part of a double bill with Ten Little Gal Force OVA. Stick is mostly background fodder, with that image and one of him in a big crash the only notable scenes. I'm at work so I'll did out screen caps out later. All I can provide is my dodgy art...
  17. Um... they eroticized the female transformation in the Guyver: Out of Control OVA, where the male version was not. It's a given that female versions of said sequences border on fan service.
  18. Better than Heat shootout!?! We'll see, but personally I'm hoping that the movie helps the DVD release of the TV series along. Best of both worlds. Given that it seems like the studio really wants a name, all the better than Mann agree to shepard this version of it as well, so we at least get someone who knows how the original worked.
  19. Um.... you don't know about the Toynami SD Alpha Morphers? Images on Toynami site on SD Alpha Morphers
  20. Clip did come out in '98 and was F-ing murder to download on dial-up
  21. And of course the first (or at least first publicised on website) custom enhanced joint 1/48 Legioss, now sadly without the how to pages showing how it was done: http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mogura/P_model/legi/LEGIOSS.HTM
  22. *hugs his Vehicle Voltron DVDs he's had for months*
  23. Perhaps, but Toynami still sourced the Japanese rights seperately so that's two seperate contracts, even if HG holds them (with no solid confirmation of that)
  24. My fear is that they end up with a numbers filed off version of Kyle Katarn. "Look at me! I'm a merc fighting against the Empire I served for after they killed me parents!" Half way through the series and after producers have gone on record stating that the character is not a Jedi... "What do you mean that my father was secretly a Jedi... and that I'm a Jedi too. Thanks for his lightsaber!" Dark Forces beardless non-Jedi Kyle Katarn = Cool Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight beyond beard wearing Kyle Katarn = Not cool
  25. For Yamato to sell Robotech New Generation/Mospeada toys outside of Japan, Harmony Gold would have to pull the toy license from Toynami first. For Yamato to sell Mospeada toys inside Japan, Tatsunoko Productions would have to pull the toy license from Toynami first. Or Toynami would have to give up the license themselves. All three appear unlikely, and Yamato likely wouldn't settle for anything less than worldwide rights for a show like Mospeada to break even.
