I've been 30 since September. <_< How many of us will be doing this whole Macross/Robotech/Gundam/anime thing when we're in our 40's, 50's or even older?

The WWE and Pro-Wrestling Thread
Apollo Leader replied to areaseven's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I will be watching it this Sunday. Full results will be posted shortly after the PPV. BTW, Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a mess. No wonder he needs the cash so badly. Just like the time Demolition Ax was selling his WWF Tag Team belt for $10,000 (which probably includes a plane ticket for him to personally deliver it to you). Didn't Hacksaw have a run in with cancer a few years back? BTW, did you you get RVD squared away on how much an MPC should be sold for? -
It had always been in the back of my mind that Gael was NOT a mole since it seemed ridiculous from the start that another mole had so quickly materialized at CTU. As for the corpse with that deadly virus, me thinks that this may have been planted by Tony, Gael, or someone else involved in trying to get Jack down to Mexico. There appears to be no real virus threat. Porbably what is going to happen is Chase is going to get down to Mexico and untintentionally screw things up. Was Jack directly involved with Tony and Gael's plans, I'm not sure. BTW, check out the official web page! http://www.fox.com/24/

Kevin I think has said that he will be carrying the Japanese Mospeada versions. -
I just picked up the DVD from Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. A lot of places are now selling it for $9.99 these days.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Most of the action isn't "on the rails". For those who didn't like JTJ's sluggish controls, EIS is much more responsive. EIS isn't the greatest game around, but I think there is enough meat to it and it has been enjoyable enough to me where I would recommend for Gundam fans to check it out. If in doubt, rent! -
Since Graham is not the spring of insider information he once was, I guess we'll have to kill him! (Seriously, Graham, we highly appreciate what you have done for us throughout the years. )

Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If you've played Journey to Jaburo or Federation vs. Zeon, it's that kind of action shooter. -
For those intersted, Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space for the PS2 was released in the US late this past week. Got mine from Gamestop on Friday. So far my opinion of this game is that it is much better then Journey to Jaburo. I played it for 3 hours straight after I got home with it. My only gripe so far is the lack of ground based combat, but the whole purpose of this game is to relive the space battles of 0079 and 0083. Just one spoiler, when you (as Amuro) are outside of A Baoa Qu, make sure to watch the display screen on the top for the transmissions by Federation and Zeon pilots - you will see South Burning and Monsha (from 0083) having a conversation.... of course Monsha thinks he should be piloting the Gundam!

Since 1995 was suppose to have been the last time EVER that the "Original Trilogy" in its original form was to be released in any video format, I'm not holding my breath, but I hope that this is the case. Though I do think a special set having BOTH the original and special editions would be perfect.

Alpha metallic green superposeable $3 at Gamestop
Apollo Leader replied to ZorClone's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I may have to run down to the Lincoln Gamestop to see if they've gone down to $3 yet. One of the Omaha Gamestops cleared their's out back in October for $4.99. The Lincoln store had them at $6.99 when I was last there in late October. At this price range, they are more then worth it. I even liked them at full retail price! -

I just finished up the latest issue (174) of Electronic Gaming Monthly a few days ago. On the last page was Hsu and Chan. Here's the whole strip.
-
Looks like I'll be back to buying Gundam DVD's next year (Zeta and F91). The last Gundam DVD I bought was Char's Counterattack.

You should have convinced Ivory to buy you that $250 MPC at RVD's store! -
Doh! I feel stupid. I thought the X-31 had been flown tailless sometime during the last decade, but this picture and the other picture at the Dryden we site are indeed just "concepts". Here's a quote from gloablsecurity.org: In 1994, software was installed in the X-31 to demonstrate the feasibility of stabilizing a tailless aircraft at supersonic speed, using thrust vectoring. This software allows destabilization through the control laws of the aircraft in incremental steps to the goal of simulation 100 percent tail-off. Quasi-tailless tests began in 1994. The first phase started with supersonic evaluations at Mach 1.2. Later subsonic evaluations were performed. During the flights the aircraft was destabilized with the rudder to stability levels that would be encountered if the aircraft had a reduced size vertical tail. The quasi-tailless testing provided data to industry on the benefits of drag reduction, radar cross section, and weight reduction that could be used for future commercial and military designs and modifications. Simulated tailless X-31 flight tests conducted for the Joint Strike Fighter program successfully provided an initial demonstration that thrust vectoring could provide yaw control and, thus, reduce or eliminate the need for an aircraft vertical tail.

I think there are 19 or 20 episodes left so there can be a lot of things that will happen. Here is a prediction. That guy (Singer?) and his girlfriend are just a red herring... they don't have the virus. The threat of the virus was a lie or it will be released through another carrier. Does anyone remember Die Hard 3 when Bruce Willis was sent all over New York basically for nothing.

Here's the X-31 flying with its tail removed and using thrust vectoring instead:

The F/A-18 is Northrop and McDonnell Douglas' navalized version of Northrop's YF-17 Cobra which lost to the F-16 when competing to be the lightweight fighter compliment for the F-15.

Robotech Macross Saga Remaster
Apollo Leader replied to treatment's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, X-Men came out on DVD, in the US, before Christmas of 2000, so it was 2 and a quarter to two and a half years between the releases. -
Robotech Macross Saga Remaster
Apollo Leader replied to treatment's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
For those who are interested, there are already several web stores popping up that are selling the first Robotech Remastered boxset for as low as $17.42. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=...Type=video_dvd& The Right Stuf is selling it for under $23. http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/ca...tem/61595/4/0/0 If I had bought any of the individual DVD's or boxsets that came out during 2001-2002, I would keep the Extras discs (if I had bought the triple boxsets), sell/trade the TV series DVD's, and then get the remastered sets. It's possible to get the remastered sets without spending too much more money. But again in my case, I already have the Macross, Mospeada, and Southern Cross DVD sets along with the Robotech Extras discs that have the English pilots for Macross and Mospeada, so I'm already set. -
Robotech Macross Saga Remaster

When Keith said "zoomed out", he meant that Animeigo used more of the outer edges of the Macross film then did Robotech. Otherwise saying, you literally get more of the picture with the Animeigo Macross DVD's then you did with Robotech. -
I've been checking a number of online sources and the range (depending on who you go by) of the F-15E, with CTF and the three extra tanks, ranges from 2,400 to 3,400. The F-16XL is stated as up to 2,800, though I can't find any details on if that is in clean condition or itseld carrying any tanks or weapons. But still, that is some impressive numbers for what started as a light weight fighter, but the numbers that count are the range, amount of fuel for said range, and the weapons load that either the F-15E or F-16XL would carry into combat. Of course there were the issues of commonality of these two aircraft with their predecessors and which one is the better cost savings, too. What would have happened to the XL's performance and RCS if it were carrying LANTRIN pods? (David, let me know what you think of Rocket Challenge )

Damn! I'm only now about to pay for my Hikaru VF-1S and now this hits the market! As for me, I plan on just getting the Super VF-1J set, but we'll see what happens in the next few months.

Robotech Macross Saga Remaster
Apollo Leader replied to treatment's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
At least one good thing has come out of this Robotech "remastering" and that is the lower costs for the Mospeada and Southern Cross boxsets. They could have easily gone for over a $100 each if ADV hadn't split the development costs. I look at it this way, when those Robotechies go out and buy their "remastered" Robotech DVD's, they are paying for part of our Mospeada and Southern Cross DVD's.
