How many years have you been posting here?
Apollo Leader replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Right before the "real" forum was started in December 2000, I occasionally posted to the message board Shawn had set up. It was June of 2000 when I first e-mailed Shawn and Graham telling them on what I thought about Macross World (I use to swap a fair number of e-mails with Shawn back in those pre December 2000 days). I first recall seeing Macross World back in the early part of 2000. Macross World has been a serious part of my Macross fandom for the last 4 years. As for "Angel Leader", I figured that if I ever got booted off the board, I could always come back under that name. If someone wants to go by "Angel Leader", be my guest! -
Originally I was going to pass this game up (I have the original Delta Strike for the Dreamcast), but the the more I read this thread, the more I am tempted to get it or at least rent it.

I was person number 6 to sign up in early December 2000 when Shawn launched the full blown forums and had done some major work on the rest of the site. Guess you can call me a veteran. -
Check out this real life exoskeleton
Apollo Leader replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Though the article doesn't say, but I would think a device like, with modifications, this could be used to allow parapalegics to walk and for other physical therapy applications. -
The Australian set looks pretty nice (artwork wise), but are all 36 episodes crammed onto two DVD's? Is that possible and how bad would the quality of the video be? As for the US boxset, I think Gus Roque was limited on what he could and couldn't use... all the good artwork was used for the Robotech DVD's. But still, Animeigo's Macross boxset is one of the top prizes in my DVD collection.

The YF-19 on the New Generation comic cover is now starting to make sense (just joking!).

Street Fighter III ................. PS2
Apollo Leader replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Seriously!! They even refused to release Metal Slug 3 in the US!!! SOny is going to lose alot of fans for this... and too bad the Xbox controller blows for fighters. I can't seem to see the page.... which version is this? 3rd impact or 2nd or a brand new version? So that's the reason why the PS2 version of Metal Slug 3 got canned!?!? Sony Entertainment, you suck! Sony's got to learn that great games can be either 2D or 3D, just as crappy games can be either be 2D or 3D. In the months and years ahead, Sony will probably give its blessings to many a crappy 3D game that will sell in far less quantities then Metal Slug 3 would have. BTW, does anyone know how well Metal Slug X for the PS1 did when it was released in 2001? I snagged the game immeadiately when it first came out... after that, it was very hard to find. -
New Macross Fan...
Apollo Leader replied to VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Congratulations, Kevin! You guys will most definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. My sister's baby is due in late May and my brother's second child is due in July... hopefully one or both of them will be a boy so I can raise them up to be a Macross Purist! (P.S. Kevin, I need you to answer my e-mails! ) -
Nice F-117X/AF-117, Firefox! Commander McBride, Lockheed's A/F-X submission was basically an extension of the original planned Navy version of the F-22.

UC Gundam equivilent of Macross World?

UC Gundam equivilent of Macross World?
Apollo Leader replied to Salty Pete's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm at the point in my Gundam fandom that I consider myself more of a Gundam fan then I do a Macross fan. When it comes to most of the Gundam series that cover UC 0079 - 0093, I prefer most of those UC Gundam series over most of the Macross series. I'm much more anxious to see Gundam Zeta then I am in seeing the conclusion of Macross Zero!. Since I'm a mechhead at heart, Gundam satisfies my big robot tastes. BUT, Macross DYRL trumps everything for me. -
has gundam interest died in the US?
Apollo Leader replied to NERV's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, last year Bandai showed off a bunch of Zeta toys at the US toy show. This year none of them were present and were replaced by Seed stuff. Looks like they've ditched the entire line becauase they couldn't get Zeta on Cartoon Network. They should have tried putting it on TechTV's Anime Unleashed or another network, but I guess they didn't want to risk pissing off CN and its owner, AOL/Time Warner by going to someone else with a show they took a pass on. Actually a number of the Zeta MSIA are still previewed at the Gundam Official site and according to Toyfare just a few months ago, Zeta figures will be released, but it won't be the massive released originally planned. BUT, I got the impression that if the Zeta figures sell well enough, more of the figures (hopefully the 7.5" figures, too!) would be released. When the Zeta DVD set and whatever merchandise does hit the store shelves, I would highly recommend buying up the stuff... I know I will. -
Arch Enemy Char's Gelgoog is OUT!
Apollo Leader replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I didn't see Char's Gelgoog at the Target I stopped at this evening, but they did have some of the first HG Gundam Seed models... -
Not too surprised that this happened, but it sucks since it will take more years and more $$$taxpayer dollars$$$ before the next generation of attack helicopter will be fielded.

Not every one has the patience of budda my friend. And the way you guys aact I'm surpised he hasn't taken many more jabs. Turnabout is fare play, you gave lumps he gave you some back don't whine about or cry he's not playing fare just suck it up and move on. The difference being that he ran away from the only forum where we could debate him, here. No such thing as debate on Robotech.com. I don't think Tommy Yune was ever part of our board. Both Steve Yun and Tom Bateman were part of the previous board and would post here from time to time (back during 2001). Sometime during late 2001 or early 2002, there was a big shootout between Steve, Keith, and a few others here on Macross World. After that, they hardly posted here again.

Looks like I'll be paying the local Targets a visit in the next week or so. -
Are you thinking of going back to the Godmars/marz name?

Regarding the whole Macross 7 Trash thing, again this was a case of Harmony Gold and Tokyo Pop going over Big West's heads. As for there being "not enough interest", if that was the case, Tokyo Pop wouldn't have persued this in the first place or they would have had announced that there wasn't enough interest after a few months. Instead, rt.com and Tokyo Pop yanked their announcements just a few weeks after the original announcements. As for the VF-19 controversy, good to see that there is some clarification on what really happened. At the same time too, though, I think we have a right to be vigilant of Harmony Gold's actions due to this whole licensing mess.
-
Graham, Graham, you duh man! Looks like we don't need Shawn anymore! Just kidding!
-
There is no ifs ands or buts that Macross 7 Trash was canned because Harmony Gold and Tokyo Pop went over Big West's heads and when BW found out, BW said no because HG and TP didn't properly license it through Big West. (I have my sources)
-
Just to add some more blood in the water, it's been repeatedly said by a number of the Harmony Gold/robotech.com guys that they had ABSOLUTELY NO PLANS in incorporating any of the Macross sequels into Robotech. Besides breaking this "promise" (Harmony Gold keeping a promise, ha!), Harmony Gold is close to breaking Big West's LEGAL US copyright for Macross Plus if they procceed with that artwork either on the cover or within the comic.

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
Apollo Leader replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought Greg's "Covert Ops" was a very nice DYRL tribute (his artwork that is). Greg is a big DYRL fan and really wanted to do a true DYRL comic, but of course the licensing issues wouldn't let him. -

Nope, hothing. Complete silence so far Graham I got a feeling something is brewing, so let us know what news is passed along. -
I see they also have a MiG-29 up on eBay, too! At least in the Fulcrum's case, there are pictures of the alleged aircraft in it's disassembled form. If this is legit, of course the concern is how complete this aircraft is (especially ECM equipment). I wouldn't want to see a complete Hornet sold to someone representing a threatening nation(s)...
