360 price cut still a ways off. My guess is next spring or summer (around the next E3).

Beat me to it. I believe there's also a chance that Contra will finally come out this week.

The PlayStation 3 Thread!
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I found my quote in this very same thread from almost three weeks ago. Sad to say I was right, but I wish someone would have wagered some money against my bet. Anyway, it's going to be a nightmare getting the PS3 during the next several months. -

Japan launch day release cut to 80,000. Is a cut in the US launch forth coming? Ever since Sony announced the launch release being reduced from 2 million to 500,000, I've been predicting that further cuts were possible. It's clear that Sony's higher-ups were a little way too optimistic in what the manufacturing end of the company and its suppliers could do. -
EGM Halo 3 article. With the competing magazine article spreading like wild fire, EGM/1up are confirming some of the Halo 3 news tidbits which also appears in its 17 page spread. As for the "Man Cannon", looks like it might be some sort of teleportation/jump enhancing machine, but still the name is awesome.

FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Somebody is finally making a transforming SDF-1 DYRL toy/display model. I was pretty happy to see this when these pictures first came up about a week or so ago. Hopefully, Yamato will now step up to the plate. How can there be a Macross toy line without the Macross itself?

A year's worth of Halo 2 LAN parties made an Xbox convert out of me. Last fall I was originally going to get a PS3 and get an original Xbox just so I could play Halo 1 and 2. But after realizing that if I went with the 360, not only could I get Halo 1 and 2, but of course I could get Halo 3 and what other goodies would be coming out in the years ahead. Even after having my first 360 going kaput a few months ago, I'm still glad I went with this system and I have had some of the most fun I have ever had with a game console. Back on subject, Bungie is not too happy about the magazine scans getting out on the Internet, but they are admitting that the pics are legit. Can't wait to see EGM's article. http://www.bungie.net/News/Story.aspx?link=h3scans Hope they keep the Man Cannon name to one of the weapons. I can just see it now: Why play with the Wii when you can play with the Man Cannon?

New pictures of Halo 3! Some pictures from a few pages of the Swedish gaming magazine Level have gotten out on to the Interent. They have a big article on Halo 3 and there are a fair number of pictures in it. I wonder if EGM will be showing the same content in its Halo issue in a few weeks? just in case they're taken down, here they are.

As pointed out on this link, the Blackbirds modified to carry the D-21 were two A-12's which were redesignated M-21's... for many years it was thought they were simply redesignated M-12, but about 10 years ago it came out that they were infact redesignated M-21 to match the number of the D-21 drone it was carrying. The Boeing Museum of flight is very lucky to have the sole surving M-21 and a D-21 to mount to it to boot. As for this link saying the D-21 was not used "operationally" is partially incorrect. Some were used for recon over China and I believe elsewhere. Ben Rich (the second man to haed Lockheed's Skunk Works) talked about how at least one D-21 flying over China malfunctioned and crashed somewhere deep in China.

Downloaded the 480p version last night. but I haven't had the chance to watch it yet. Just two weeks to Emergence Day and also the release of Call of Duty 3... looks like the next few months will be pretty tied up.

Thanks for the scans, Graham! Hopefully my comic store will get the issue of Hobby Japan for me. Hard to believe it was 6 years ago this month when I got my two original Yamato YF-19's. Can't wait for this incarnation!

Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return
Apollo Leader replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I saw at Toys R Us last night the rerelease of MPC Optimus Prime. Still the stubby smoke stacks, but once again the packaging shows smoke stacks with a little bit of length to them (just like 2-1/2 years ago when the box showed smoke stacks with a little bit of length when the toy was stubby). Why doesn't Hasbro just show Prime on the box with short smoke stacks? Why the false advertisement? -
Gears of War goes gold. Emergence Day is just a few weeks away. Who ready for a curb stomping?

PlayStation 3 Inside and Out I had spaced it out, but I see that the movie region set up for Blu-Ray movie DVD's is different then old DVD's. The US and Japan are part of the same Blu-Ray region meaning one can import Blu-Ray anime DVD's from Japan no problem! Hmmmm..... -
BTW, has anyone heard on when the VF-1J's are suppose to be out? What about the FAST Packs? What Valkryies are suppose to make up the third release?

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3154630 To add some more fuel to the Lik-Sang/Sony controversy, as pointed out by 1up.com (it should also be in the Lik-Sang letter) some of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's higher ups are customers of Lik-Sang and purchase PSP goods through Lik-Sang. -

BTW, what was the final word on Sony making the PS3 and PS3 games so you couldn't either buy used ones or rent them? There was a concern that Sony was setting up the security for the games and systems so that if you bought a game, it would only work on the system you initially play it on. Since I haven't heard anything in a while, I presume Sony dropped this idea. -

That plain sucks for importers. The funny thing is since Sony is wanting the PS3 to be region free for its games, I think they would want the import scene to flourish. With what Sony is doing to companies and websites like this, we as Macross fans should consider ourselves lucky. Harmony Gold could have much more agressively pursued some of the importers (like the Valkyrie Exchange, Big Bad Toy Store, et al) then they did. They made some threats back in late 2000 and 2002, but to my knowledge they never took anyone to court. -
That was the only Super Hornet at the show. Of course there was the Blue Angels, but of course those were regular Hornets. The pilot of the F/A-18E has flown EVERY single version of the F/A-18 - A, B, C, D, E, and F. I'm probably not going to have time to get my dedicated thread up and going again, but I'll try to post some more pictures in this thread. Some of the pictures I have include the super rare RC-135 variant that has a regular C-135/707 nose instead of the regular long black nose of the Rivet Joint RC-135's. Many of its sensors and antennae are differnet from the regular RC-135's, though it does have the side looking radar on both sides. There are only two in existence. One is in storage and the one I saw at the show is usually overseas on deployment. For whatever reason, it was back here in Nebraska.

It was good balanced launch and it had Soul Calibur to boot. But if I did get the PS3 i would have gotten the Gundam game, RR7, Resistence Fall of Man, and one or two others. Probably would stick with the 360 version of COD3 because it will probably have better online play then its PS3 counterpart. -
UMK3 went back up over night and is now available for download. I've already opened up like half of the achiements and have played a bunch of rounds on XBL. First time was a 4 way tournament set up. One or more of the guys had slow connections and the game lagged horribly. I then went and did some regular players match against a guy with a solid connection. We must have played about two dozen rounds. The game played flawlessly all rounds with out any lag. The key is that both people need to have solid connections. Lots of fun and definitely recommended those who love Mortal Kombat and just some fast frantic action.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 briefly on XBL this evening. Was an unfinished version and it has some glitches. Official release next month.

Some more recent PS3 news: Sony may not hit shipment targets. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sony doesn't meet 500,000 (400,000+100,000) for the combined US and Japan launches. No Achievement System for PS3 Games. Sony to replace Sixaxis batteries if they fail. Price of having internal, non removable, batteries. -

A few things lacking in Sony's analogy: 1) Neither version of the PS3 comes with a component cable. The $399 360 does. 2) The analysist talks about needing to buy a wireless controller for the core 360... someone forgot the core 360 comes with a controller to start with (even if it's wired) so buying the wireless controller now gives the consumer two controllers to use... 3) Sony's online service... supposedly "free" even for online play, but it's still unknown to what extent the individual game companies may tag on user fees and look at the fiasco invovling Gran Turismo HD (paying hundreds of dollars to get ALL of the available content). And regarding HD DVD and Blu-Ray DVD drives, if I ever get either one, I want a stand alone player separate from my game system(s). That way if my movie player dies, my game system(s) aren't also hosed and vice versa.
