Last week my brother and myself finished up the game on co-op so I got all the Dom achievements. But if you want to me to host a game so you can get the Dom achievements, let me know. If you play through on Casual as a co-op, the game is almost a cake walk so it shouldn't take too many hours. Also, if you want to play some vs. games let me know. We need to play some more SF II, too! (Now up to 43 achievements!)

There is a patch for Gears today addressing a number of the glitches. Also, drum roll, two new multiplayer maps are out tonight. As for me, I have beaten the game on all difficulty levels and have gotten 42 of the 49 achievements. I should have 6 of the 7 remaining ones in the upcoming weeks. Of course "Seriously..." is gonna take a while!

Hugo Weaving as Megatron? "Greetings, Mr. Prime!"
-
Well let's see, a flat nosed semi would be quite a bit smaller then a long nose semi meaning Prime would have been dwarfed by the main Decepticon characters? Hasn't Prime been depicted as a variety of trucks throughout the years? He has even been depicted as a friggin' ape! My whole point with the Constructicons was that there was many inconsistencies and giant plot holes with the Transformers cartoons. There was not a solid story or plot like with, let's say for example, Macross. Each episode of Transformers would have an alternating writer each time. Ultimately when it comes down to it, the Transformers was a 30 minute commercial for a toy line which was (initially) a bastardization of multiple toy lines that had NOTHING to do with each other (Diaclone, Macross, etc.). I guess in a certain way, Transformers is a close relative to Robotech! Again, this is an original story and take on the Transformers characters and universe, NOT something to be a sequel/prequel to any of the existing cartoons (though it's nice to have many of the familiar characters and having some of their voices reprised by the original voice actors). Enjoy it, or hate it, on its own merits.

With all the hype of of the hype of the Wii (good hype) and the PS3 (bad), turns out the Xbox 360 was the champion this Christmas season here in the US. This news has been posted at quite a few sites. Here are the November/December approximate sales numbers: 360 - 2 million Wii - 1.8 mllion PS3 - 750,000 In personal news, I've gotten 36 of the 49 achievements in Gears of War to date (700 points). Last night I got the Hammer achievement and the achievement named after the Motor City Madman himself, the Nuge!

The Nintendo Wii Thread!!
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
With the scalpers' run on the PS3 coming to an end and Sony starting to catch up with production, the upcoming weeks and months will reveal how much of a real demand there is for the PS3 by gamers and the general public. The Premium Xbox 360 at $399 will probably prove to be the breaking point for most people (at least hardcore gamers) when it comes to game systems; adjusted for inflation, the $299 PS1 of 1995 would be worth about as much as the 360 is today. Over the last week, I saw and could have purchased a PS3 at a fair number of stores I stopped in. I have yet to actually see a Wii that I could pick up and buy. -
(This is in response to some of the comments posted in this thread in recent months) I think I probably said it earlier in this thread, but what are some of you people expecting from this movie? Though I enjoyed the cartoon (at least up to the the 1986 movie), had an attachement to the characters, and bought the first two seasons on DVD, there was much of the original series that defied reality/physics and continuity. 20 foot tall robots transforming into hand held guns and cassette players, two different origin stories for the Constructicons - either built on Earth by the Decepticons or friends with Omega Supreme millions of years ago (not to mention they represented 20th century Earth construction vehicles millions of years before such things would exist!), Starcream was suppose to be a futuristic looking starfighter millions of years ago, but when he and Skyfire came to Earth millions of years ago, he looked like an F-15 (again, millions of years before such a thing would exist), Optimus Prime getting blasted to pieces in at least one or more episodes, but in the movie, one or two blasts kill him, and so on and so forth. I think some of you guys are putting the original cartoons on way too high of a pedastal in regards to judging the upcoming live action movie before it's complete and you have even seen it. I say enjoy the movie for what it is... an original story and take on the Transformer universe.

Engage Planet KISSDUM. Coming 2007
Apollo Leader replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks like there are at least two transforming mecha... the YF-19/VF-4/VF-0 love child and a subsonic plane which has a forward section similar to the VA-6 and it's partial transformation reminds me of the Logan(?) from Southern Cross which had like a Gerwalk like transformation and that was about it. Here's a Babel Fish translation of the introduction page: AD 2031 -. Before the mankind who continues prosperity, suspicious looking life body "Hardy who appears un". And, that multiplied a certain day, as suddenly, started attacking to the mankind! That "Hardy un" you investigated, were organized mankind defense to purpose "N.I.D.F. The Nintendo Wii Thread!!
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The Wii with it's unique controller setup and interaction, a much more affordable price tag, and some excellent marketing, Nintendo has definitely pushed the right buttons. Whether this system can continue its high sales rate in the upcoming years remains to be seen, but right now things are going great for them. The PS3 is the "Homer" (the car Homer Simpson designed) of game systems - over priced and over accesorized. (Don't get me wrong, the PS3 will eventually take off and will do well, but just not at PS2 levels and it won't own 70% of the market). -
The PlayStation 3 Thread!
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
With the PS1, the first dual analog stick didn't appear until about two years after the PS1 came out followed by the Dual Shock soon afterwards. Even though those controllers didn't appear until a few years after the PS1's launch, they did quite well and set the standard for all PlayStation controllers for almost a decade. As soon as the rumble feature is restored to the Sixaxis, people will be most definitely getting that controller. Controllers don't have the same stigma that system upgrades have (ie. Sega CD, 32X, etc.). Last night I finally saw a 60GB PS3 for sale at a local Best Buy. Also one of the Gamestops I go to also had PS3's in stock. If anyone's looking for a PS3 right now, it looks like supply is catching up and the scalpers are all but done in trying to make a profit on these things on eBay. But I will say that until some sure fire hits come out on this system, 2007 is going to be a slow year for the PS3. -
The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
Apollo Leader replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Missed out on the news about Bandai Visual releasing Gunbuster on DVD in February. Looks like I have at least one anime DVD release to look forward to in 2007. -
fantastic four : rise of the silversurfer
Apollo Leader replied to Aegis!'s topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Little known fact about the Fantastic Four... Originally Stan Lee was going to give Ben "The Thing" Grimm the ability to turn on and off his rocky hard body. The idea was quickly axed when it was realized that Ben would have to yell out, "Hard -ON!" when making his transformation. Oh alright, I made that one up.- 97 replies

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam A New Translation

Hasn't it been confirmed that the Zeta movies will see a US release in the near future? Here's hoping that MS Igloo will also reach the states... -
The PlayStation 3 Thread!
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hopefully Crossfire hasn't deep sixed any future Gundam game releases for the US... little more has been said about the US release of the Xbox 360 game and it seems like they've been shying away from using the Gundam name for identifying it (just calling it "Mobile Ops The One Year War"). If this next Gundam game is any good, I might eventually get a PS3 though my 360 is keeping me plenty busy and occupied. Hopefully Sony can get rumble back in to their controllers! -

Sylvester Stallone's ROCKY BALBOA.
Apollo Leader replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw it on Wednesday night. It was a good, positive, feel good movie and it was a good way to send off the series and character. -
I was just giving you a hard time. I enjoy my Macross and Gundam collecting and fandom equally.

Switching gears (pun intended), I was curious to know how everyone was doing with Gears of War? I'm partway into playing it on Insane and I've been playing it pretty seriously on XBL. I think I have about 700 kills (boy that 10,000 kill achievement's going to take a while to get) and I've earned a total of 29 or 30 of the 49 achievements. After I beat Insane, I want to go through the game as Dom. If anyone wants to help me out, let me know; if anyone needs a game hosted so they can play through as Dom, I'll gladly oblige.

Looks like this will be the last time to resurrect this thread, but I just wanted to mention the the 7th and last volume of ADV's Macross DVD release came out this week. Unfortunately chains like Best Buy which were physically selling the first several volumes at their stores are still only selling this volume online. I'll probably order it online again, but if I can get it at Suncoast for $20 or less (like I did for volume 6), I'll go that route. I haven't had the chance to watch the full set beyond the first two discs. What is everyone's final take at ADV's presentation of Macross on ADV? The one thing I really liked were some of the extras namely Mari's interviews and the interviews with one of the ADV producers which went into explaining some of the cultural references and inside jokes and stuff you would see in the show.

New Halo 3 video! This focuses on the Brutes having a much bigger role.

Troll, troll!!!!!! Can't the same thing be said about the umpteen million VF-1 toys that have and continue coming out from Yamato, Toynami, et al? Regardless of what head, paint job, or additional weapons you stick on it, it's the same basic firggin' mecha.

Hasn't someone done a fan translation of Misa Hayase's White Reminiscence or any of the other books? I thought someone posted on here a long time ago that translations exist...

http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/_books_series.htm Of course they're in Japanese, but if you get these books http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/series_comics.htm, you are reliving the TV in book form.

I thought Yamato couldn't really do the VF-17 because it 's mainly synominous with Macross 7 and they don't have the rights to that. Maybe they could do it as a Macross VF-X2 related release, though that game is now like 7 years old! Anyway, Yamato's YF-19 makes Bandai's piece o' crap VF-19 like... a piece of crap, even more so. I should have my YF-19 VERY soon.
