The Xbox 360 Thread Elite Edition
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Call of Duty 2 is one of the few 360 games that I have gotten all the achievements in. Pretty much all of them were the result of beating each campaign section on the different difficulty levels. Though playing through on Veteran difficulty was maddening at times, it was doable and eventually I had the entire game beat. I think COD2 was very balanced with it achievement points and what you needed to do to get them. Games like Gears of War and Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter on the other hand have you doing some totally ridiculous things to get a few scant points. 10,000 kills in ranked gameplay to get the 50 point "Seriously..." achievement? Considering that you don't respawn during a regular Warzone round, it is going to take years for some people to get this achievement. Since I started playing GOW back in late November, I only now have amassed about 5,000 kills in Warzone, Assassination, and Execution combined. It's probably going to be another year or two before I get this achievement! GRAW also has some pretty tough demands. In fact only a handful of people have scored all 1,000 points to the game. I've seen where some people having got the full 575 points or so from the story mode of the game (beating it through both on regular and hard), called it quits on the game afterwards. -
Here's a link to Kotaku which had an article on the live performance of those Japanese comedians dressed as the Gundam, Guntank, and Guncannon. You can see one frame of the one guy dressed as the guncannon. http://kotaku.com/gaming/clip/gundam-live-...cert-265025.php

The first video is a riot! A few months ago there was video posted on Youtube of these three comedians who did virtually the same thing dressed up as the Gundam, Guntank, and Guncannon and they were singing "Soldiers of Sorrow" from the second Gundam movie. This has to be the same guys! (Unfortunately I can not find the Gundam video anymore since they took it down ) As for the second video, I don't know about the audio, but the graphics are definitely a custom use of the Idolm@ster for the 360.

Friday night I sat down and played Golden Axe on XBLA. After about an hour I had 185 of the 200 achievemnt points... the ONLY reason I don't have the remaining 15 points is because no one was around to play a co-op game locally (as in two people playing off the system instead of on XBL)! Those who are wanting the achievements from getting to the last stage without dying or getting through the whole game without continuing, set you lives and continues to the max of 5 each and play as the dwarf. -
Aliens Vs. Predator 2 Script and Movie Review
Apollo Leader replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just watched the trailer and it looks like it will be a fun movie to see. Looks like this one will be R rated for sure. There were a lot of people on here battying and moaning about the first AVP. I wish AVP had followed the original 1991 script and subsequent based materials (Dark Horse comics, Capcom's arcade game, etc.), but I went in with an open mind and I enjoyed it for what it was. This one should be even better! -

Hulk Hogan's son Nick seriously injured in car wreck. Nick Bollea okay. He was released from the hospital today so it turns out he wasn't seriously injured as reported, but his passenger is in critical condition. BTW, does anyone have any comments about Summer Slam? I see that both HHH and Rey Mysterio were both back in action again. -
RoboCop: 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition

There's a site that shows some comparisons between the Criterion DVD and the new DVD and I thought the Criterion one looked better. But of course the new DVD set has a lot more extras. -
RoboCop: 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition
Apollo Leader replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
One thing I liked about Robocop 2 was the humor of seeing poor Robocop being turned into a big PC wimp and seeing him deal with deadly serious situations with said PC programming. As for Robocop 3, one footnote to that movie is that it was pretty much all shot and complete in 1991 just a year after Robocop 2 was released, but due to Orion Pictures going down the tubes, the movie languished in a state of limbo for almost 2 years before it was released in the fall of 1993. -

I'm sure pretty much everything at badmovies.org would be perfect choices for this thread! -
RoboCop: 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition
Apollo Leader replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought it was odd that Beetlejuice was bumped up to a protagonist role and the goth looking daughter (who I thought had gave up her goth ways at the end of the movie) was hanging out with him. But I thought the humor of the cartoon was quite good (especially the puns). -

As the saying goes, "with friends like these..." As for King of the Fighters, I use to collect the series with the PS1, Saturn, and Dreamcast editions, but I realized I was basically buying the same game over and over again! As for picking Dynasty Warriors: Gundam over Lair, as someone who likes hack and slash games and as a big Gundam fan, i would say Gundam. I finally played the 360 demo last night and I liked it. Impressed that they gave a Japanese audio option. As for the English dub, sounds like they were able to successfully rehire a lot of the voice actors that have dubbed these characters from the different Gundam series over the last 7 years. -
And as soon as an actual complete aircraft takes to the air, Congress will get cold feet and either axe the production run significantly (ie. B-2) or all together (ie. B-70 or B-1A). Billions down the drain for nothing.

For the most part, the Skat looks a bit primitive. In particular the shape and location of the air intake I would think be it's biggest RCS feature. Compare this to the B-2 and both the Boeing and Northrop Grumman UCAVs. The air intakes are located far back from the leading edge and their shapes are clearly much more advanced, even the nearly 20 year old B-2! Not to mention that our flying wing stealth aircraft have a thick belly, thus making it easier to hide the engines. But at the same time, one has to wonder how much of the Skate is made possible because of the technology gleaned from the F-117 shot down over Kosovo?

Finally last night I sat down and seriously started playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter nearly a year-and-a-half after I originally got it. I wish I had sunk my teeth into this game alot sooner. I like how the game focuses on using cover just like Gears of War. Go out running and gunning and your dead! Better late then never, huh? -

I actually got my SFA Anthology (collection) for the PS2 a year ago June and it is still unopened to this day! If you think that's bad, when I got rid of my copy of Ace Combat 5 last weekend, up until that day, it was still unopened from when I got it for Christmas back in 2004! About 2 years ago, you would not believe the collection of video games and systems I had amassed over 17 years. I wish I had taken some pictures of it all so I could make a visual showing of how much I have offloaded in the last two years. -
The Nintendo Wii Thread!!

Midway's Cruis'n on the Wii. I am going to have to agree with some of the observations that this barely looks better then N64 games, let alone DS games. I know the Wii is basically "two Gamecubes duct-taped together", but a game from a publisher as big as Midway looking this bad is just like, wow. This would have barely passed as a Dreamcast launch game! -

The only ports the 360 has are USB so unless you can find some sort of an adaptor, you're probably out of luck. -

Seanbaby is one of a number of reasons why I am no longer subscribed to EGM after 15 years (my last issue was this past winter). For all the times he mocks and ridicules Christ, Christianity, etc., if he did the same thing about any other religious group or individual, he would have been labeled an intolerant bigot and ran out of town. But since he's part of the "mainstream media" and entertainment culture that bashes anything Christian, conservative, Republican, etc., he gets away with it and is even lauded for it. There was an issue of EGM about a year ago covering Guitar Hero II in which they had two polls covering what music people wanted and didn't want in future editions of Guitar Hero. Two of the bands on the "do not want" list was 80's Christian metal band Stryper and of course Creed since a lot of the songs on their three albums have spiritual/Christian undertones. Even though the reality is that Creed was one of the top rock bands of the past decade and I'm sure there are many who would like to see some of their tracks on futur versions of Guitar Hero, it was quite obvious that Seanbaby's bigoted influence was all over that poll. Funny thing is in one of the last issues of EGM I got, the guy showed how much of a bleeding hypocrite he is. At the time, he was dating a black woman. When reviewing some game or something (can't remember for sure if it was video, a boardgame, or what it was) from the 80's in which some of the characters were colored swapped to represent blacks. The same Seanbaby who is all out there being all tough and in everybody's faces, threatening to beat up bad movie director Uwe Boll in a boxing match, etc. all of a sudden became super hyper sensitive. It was pretty funny to see. As for Seanbaby mocking those in our military, which issue was this in? I would have cancelled my subscription at that point. I have a lot of family, friends, former classmates who served/have served in all branches of our military. I have a possible future in law that is getting ready to head out for a tour of duty in Iraq as I speak. Any of these people, including the women, have a bigger set of balls then that p*ssy Seanbaby will ever have. -
RAF Eurofighters intercept Russian bomber. If I'm right, this is the first intercept/escort picture I've ever seen of a Eurofighter/Typhoon with a Tu-95 Bear. The Cold War has returned!

Digital distribution I say is great for rentals and trials, but when it comes to the final product, I would like a physical piece of merchandise that I can handle, use, and trade in whatever way I see fit. Digital downloads only crowd a finite hard drive and what happens in your hard drive with all your music and movies takes a dump?
