The Xbox 360 Thread Elite Edition
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
At the Toys R Us I stopped at last week, most of the good games were in the big glass case where the extra stock would go while most everything out on the shelves was "crap" or older stuff. At least the good games were viewable and buyable, but I think they were trying to increase the chances that the other stuff would be bought off instead by the more casual buyer who wouldn't bother to go look at the glass case. -
I know I would be at least a few hundred dollars richer!

Street Fighter II: The Later Years

Where you going by "Roy Focker" on AFM back then or something else? I started lurking on AFM during the summer or fall of 2000. The day after Thanksgiving 2000 I decided to create a Deja account so I could start posting on AFM and other newsgroups (this was right before Deja was swallowed up by Google). It was at that time that I chose "Apollo Leader" as my alias; it's funny how I use that name pretty much anywhere online to this very day. So just as I started to post on AFM, less then two weeks later Shawn launched the Macross World Forums. I continued to post to AFM on and off after that point, but I think my involvement with AFM ended completely by 2002. A few people I've know on here for much longer though. Keith I originally met during the last few months of 1999; we were both subscribed to Animeigo's Talk mailing list. I've been a customer of the Valkyrie Exchange since late 1999 so I've known Kevin Lam for that long too. Hard to believe it's been 8 years already since the announcement of Animeigo's Macross DVD boxset and Toycom/Yamato's Macross Plus toys and that I've known some of you guys for that long.

That's great news! I had been wondering how the efforts for getting that Vulcan flyable again. Too bad there isn't a flyable B-36 or B-47 out there (there was a serious effort around 1970 to get one of the surviving B-36's up to flyable condition).

The PlayStation 3 Thread 80GB Edition

Got to wonder how big of a hit Sony's now taking on the PS3 these days? Does the 80GB version still come with Motorstorm? -
The Xbox 360 Thread Elite Edition
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Though this is an Xbox 360 specific thread, this thread is a video game related thread so if it veers a little but sticks to video games I don't see it as much of a problem. Back on subject, whose 360 has NOT RROD this week. -

When I got rid of my original SNES last year it had yellowed in much the same way. It was a Core unit I got in 1992. Box was still in great shape and it still had all the bags and twisty ties. -
So how did the first Marathon begin? The main character coming out of a hybernation pod of some sort?

Street Fighter IV next year. Nice promo video by Capcom! -
Believe it or not, it's because of my involvement with a Christian singles ministry that I'm the owner of a 360 and the whole Halo trilogy today (granted we are a group of mainly 20-30 somethings and not kids). Three years ago I discovered that a group of guys from our group were having a LAN party for the then newly released Halo 2 and I went to check it out. Been hooked ever since. Funny thing is until recently, I was the only guy with a 360.

That was awesome! Wonder if that's on Youtube yet?

When I was picking up Transformers on DVD yesterday at the Nebraska Furniture Mart, I saw they had both Bioshock and the Orange Box on sale for right under $50 each and decided to splurge. If the local Toys R Us's hadn't run out of Orange Boxes, I was going to get that, Bioshock, and GRAW2 as part of the buy 2 get 1 free deal. Oh yeah, GHIII, COD4, Rock Band, and AC6 are all out during the next few weeks. Guess I won't be buying any games during 2008! -
Picked up the 2-disc set from the Nebraska Furniture Mart yesterday ($22.47 I think). The single disc set was selling there for like $12.47 or something like that and it was selling like hot cakes. Soon after I got there, they were rolling out the last few hundred copies they had to resupply their display. Wouldn't be surprised if they sold out today.

The Nintendo Wii Thread!!
Apollo Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Famitsu publisher says 67% of wii owners arent playing. On the flipside, though, VC games like these make getting a Wii more enticing. -
Ah seez, I hope I can find a two-disc set (regular case or Target transforming case) when I get off work! Me and some friends are talking about watching it on a hi def projector on Saturday.

Just need to beat the game with 4 more characters on Dynasty Warriors Gundam and I can get back to Halo 3. Buuuttt, Guitar Hero III, COD 4, and Rock Band are all out in a few more weeks! Not to mention I'm thinking of picking up the Orange Box. -
I think I'm going to either get the two-disc set from either Best Buy or Target. Wish the prequel content from the Wal-mart special set was with the "regular" two disc set though.
-
I was thinking of the Wal-mart set, but since the extras disc is not the same as what's coming with all the other two-disc sets, I'm not really sure which one to buy now...

What really happened to the X-Wing! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a8d_1192187599 -
Yeah, I agree DAMN IT!!! I just reread the original story I posted and it looks like it was updated. His grand total of days he has to serve in jail is 48 days. The first 18 he's going to do when the show does its winter break on December 21st. The remaining days he has to serve by next July.

The PlayStation 3 Thread 80GB Edition
Apollo Leader replied to Gaijin's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
IMHO, I think Sony should have stuck with the 20 and 60 GB models (with their Emotion Engine powered backwards compatibility) through at least this Christmas season. The 60 GB version would have been $499 like it is now and the 20 GB version should have been ran at $399. (Gamestop's website believe it or not is still selling the 20 GB version - $449). This 40 GB version I think is a big mistake just because so many features are being dumped off; it's a sign of desparation and I think they're trying to randomly shoot in the air in hopes that they'll hit something. For all the fuss that Sony made about having hardware onboard for BC with PS2 games and that they wanted the full line of PS1-PS3 playable on one machine, again this is bad. -
The seventh season of 24 starts in three more months... or will it??? Keifer Sutherland sentenced to 30 days in jail AND may face an additional 6 months. So when Keifer ends up "in the big house", how long will he last? How many of his fellow inmates will be gunning for him just so they can say they beat up/raped/killed Jack Bauer? I wonder if the time Keifer was in prison during part of season three if that will count towards his jail time? Seriously, I hope he only has to do 30 days, but at the same time too he did break his 2004 probation so may deserve to be in their longer. Looks like Jack Bauer may be responsible for his own undoing!
