Nice, is it going to get a cockpit as well, or too little ref data for that?
  2. That forward fan acts to pump air down to the main engine in gerwalk mode, in fighter mode it would like just rotate the vanes straight to act as intake guides. In fighter mode it would actually be somewhat of a deteriment at high speeds, it would be most useful in gerwalk.
  3. actually, knowing you, u'd break in to modernize it, then u could break in again to stick in the 1/72 VF-0! Only if I could have WM Cheng build all the modernization modelling component and VF models. Anything I built would look like crap on such a beautiful model.
  4. I would hate to see modern ships named after science fiction ships. Let's face it, unless you are a complete looser Star Trek geek you realize that the Enterprise name has been around for centuries and that the ship in the shows was named after that not the other way around. Though they did whine enough to convince the Senate and NASA to rename the Constitution the Enterprise, though it never flew in space sadly. Anyway back to the model, sorry but I do not remember who built it, someone mentioned that Starship modeler had an article about it, maybe that says. As for sneaking a 1:72 model VF-0 or VF-1, I would have been more likely to stick a little 1:72 scale RAM launcher on its sponsons had I been given the oppurtunity, lol, jk.
  5. Well we all know that I am a big Flanker and Fuclrum fan, but as for underrated fighters out there, hmmm.... I would have to say the A-4K Skyhawk, and the F-8 Crusader. Ordinarily I would put the A-10 for underrated attacker, but that is just inside the air force top brass, everyone else admits that is the best attack jet and tank killer in the world.
  6. The only thing I am really disappointed about is that there won't be any 1:48 scale two seat VF-1s made. I was hoping for a good VF-1D, actually I was hoping that the low viz would have been a VF-1D instead of a VF-1A. Hey I loved the low Viz, but it would have lent itself perfectly to a VF-1D. Is the reason they are not making any 1:48 two seaters because of all the problems is with the 1:60s? If so, I'm sure they can figure something out, heck make it a limited edition special paint job. I know you must all think I'm crazy, I'd love to the Macross Plus VF's in 1:48 as well, but would the lack of at least 1:48 VF-1D seems very odd to me, as most of the toy is already built and only a relatively small redesign would be required. Guess I wil have to wait for a custom conversion kit. BTW sorry about the relatively long post, been on a writing streak lately and can't help it.
  7. That is bad assed, remember seeing bits of that cobbled together a year or so ago, looks alot like the animation from the VO opening.
  8. Unfortunately Agent One it was a crappy old digital camera, like first generation of digital cameras and I didn't know how to turn it off. If I ever go back there I will take a much better digi-cam with me and take far more and better pictures. That beast is truly awesome and very impressive to view. And to answer Opus' question the info sheet on it said it took about five years to build including all the model planes and several people worked on it. Even the plane models were very high quality, maybe not WM Chengs, but easily better the something the average modeler does.
  9. Very cool model, almost makes me wish for a WM Cheng Version, lol. That or a 1:72 Scale Prometheous and Dadelus (sp?) those would he huge and too cool.
  10. Last One, Stern Shot.
  11. Starboard side of the Island, man my Dad wound up in several of these shots, camera hog, lol, jk.
  12. Mid ship Flight Deck, A-7's and EA-6Bs on Deck.
  13. "Skull One Ready for Take Off!" Plus Forward NATO, whips, etc... THose finger on the end of the flight deck are gone now too on the real thing, like I said early 80's configuration.
  14. Forward Elevator and Flight Deck, lookie a Hornet.
  15. Aft Starboard Side, missing my RAM Launcher it is
  16. Aft Elevators and Hanger Interior
  17. Port Island Aft, with elevators, aircraft, Jolly Rogers, and NATO Sea Sparrow Launcher.
  18. Flight Deck, Island, and some guy to give you a sense of scale. CHeck out all the tie downs on the deck too, way cool. Resized this one, sorry about the last one.
  19. Some time ago on the old boards we had a discussion about extremely large scale ship models. DUring that discussion I brought up this model, a 1:72 USS Nimitz Aircraft Carrier at the NImitz Museum in Fredricksburg, TX. Well on a recent trip back there I managed to take some pictures with my nephews old digital camera thought you folks would enjoy it. BTW this is in the 80's configuration as the Phalanx mounts have since been replaced by RAM Launchers, which I work on. I had to convince my nephew not to point out this change to the museum staff. Anyway onto the pics, bow shot.
  20. Well as some of you know I was recently away for three weeks on a trip for work, got a buttload of Over Time for it too. The trip was to the USS JFK, CV(A)-63 where we certified our launchers and trained the crew. Well it culminated in a 2 week underway period during which we shot about ten missiles. Four RAM BTVs (Blast Test Vehicles) which are used for structural test firings, basically to see what effect the rocket motor blast has on the ship's structure. We fired two BTVs from each launcher, though I didn't get watch the second set of shots because the space I was in has bad doors seals and an open stuffing tube that let exhasut gas into it, not fun but everyone was fine. Anyway we then fired a single Block 1 round at a drone for a certification shoot, nailed it, but since it was telemtry round with no warhead it tore up the drone but did not destroy it. Well we brought the drone around again to shoot the second launcher ar it, but it was so damaged from the shot that its radar was unusable and so we couldn't fire at it witht he Block 0 round. The range was a bunch of idiots and they did not launch a second drone so we couldn't shoot the second launcher, ugh. After that we went out to NATO test range and over the next two days fired five NATO Sea Sparrow missiles. I was off the ship by that point, took the COD (Carrier Onboard Delivery) off, got to take a cat shot, was too cool. Anyway was a cool trip, though it got really cold since we were off the coast of Virginia for the shoots. Anyway attached is the only good picture the ship took of one of the BTV launches, thought you would all get a kick out of it.
  21. Nice work, will love to see the final product.
  22. nice, can we get another shot of the interior of the pod, looks like some blood and gore in there, cool.
  23. What about the other Armor 1:48 jets, it seems that we all agree that the F-14 model is bad, but what about the MiG-29? I was thinking of getting the JG-73-1 MiG-29 they made or maybe the A-10, but the picks of the A-10 I've seen are not that impressive. The MiG-29 looks good from the pictures though, any thoughts.
  24. TMoS?
