Here a couple images of the new PLASER SMG, I've put some more details into it, but I still feel like its missing something, no idea what though. For a sense of scale I've rendered it with the larger rifle. Let me know what you think, still have to figure out what it's missing.

It is still needs a lot detail work done, but here is the basic body of my next rifle. Basically an SMG in scale it is the little brother of the larger rifle I designed, strictly a PLASER rifle it's the MP-5/P-90 of my main troops.

The forward cocking lever on the left side is for the Mass Driver, AKA rail gun, It chambers the first round and is used for clearing jams, etc... The rear cocking lever on the left side is for priming the PLASER Magazine, clears and hooks up the power connections and the plasma shunt. As I've said before there is a method to my madness.

Thanks Gonzo, it is still a work in progress at this point and the PLAMSA LASER barrel is going to be changed a bit. As for the ammo ejection port, that was becuase of how I am currentlt envisioning the power source. I had three ideas for that, power source in the gun, power source in the magazine, or power source attached to the round. The rifle here is using the third option. Each round comes attached to a power cell that is flash drained for each firing, then the spent cell is ejected. This arrangement actually is a good idea thermally as the power cell would be very hot after firing, so instead of having the magazine heat up as you fire, the hot power cell is just disposed of. True it isn't very environmentally friendly, but the magazine is more easily reloaded and reused. So there is a method to my madness. Also, it makes sense to have the ejection port just in case you have to clear a jam. Terrance, thanks for the compliment, haven't seen you for a while. Yes it does bear a striking resemblance to the XM-8, I hadn't seen it in a while though, hmmm, maybe I can equip the GF with updated versions of it, lol.

Is it just me or does the boat module look like a combination of the Yamato and the Macross?

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
Knight26 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is it just me or does that strike cannon look way too much like the one off the 15th anniversary figures? Man I hope BW jumps in both feet first on this one, this is the kind of thing that can shut HG down, breaking international copyright law can get you in some serious $h!#. Then again I almost, almost, hope that BW and HG came to an agreement and with HG just taking a little off the top we will get real macross merchandise here in the states, like DVDs, toys, models, etc... If HG was smart and such an offer was laid out they would be stupid not to take it. I would have no problem with that really, unless they had the idiots who did the voices for robogarbage do the dubs on any region 1 DVDs, *shiver* makes me glad I always watch the sub. -
Holy Shreg Mechmaster, that is one sweet scene, what package do you use again?

The UK style, for some reason all the pics of the british main assault rifle I've seen have the covering parts an olive drab.

The opposite side, the Mass Drive power case ejector and PLASER activation lever are clearly evident on this side. All it really needs now is some detail work, etchings, and strap mounts.

No, it's not what you think. These are the designs I've been working on for a new rifle for my characters to use. I've been working on it for about two-three days now on and off. It is roughly based on design I saw online, which was a cobbling together of different modern day assault rifles. This is a dual nature weapon, with a Plasma LASER rifle combined with a slug thrower, ideal for use against unknown capability hostiles. The PLASER is the barrel on top. Well let me know what you guys think. I think it came out pretty well. I also did a few alternate color schemes, some are realistic, some off the wall, was just having fun. First off the regular colors I've used for development.

Yes, reaction weapons are in fact nukes, which is probably one of the main reasons why Macross is not as popular in Japan as Gundam. I say this because rarely if ever in Gundam do you hear about nukes and even then they are usually used only by the bad guys or as a last resort by the good guys. However, in Macross the good guys quite liberally use the Reaction Warheads, Nukes, even in the first episode the initial attack by the UN Spacy is made using RWs. The primary anti-capital ship weapon is also an RW and the UN Spacy has no real compunctions against using it them in SW1. Afterwards there are hints that they are no longer used as liberally, yet they are still kept active in the arsenals.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I really apperciate them and will continue to refine the designs. I have to admit that a lot of my early designs were comprimised when they transistioned from paper to CAD, early CAD programs I used didn't have the capability to make certain shapes I wanted. Other designs were comprimised by experimentation, hmm wonder what this would look like. Some of my older designs have only gotten better though since I imported them into CAD, as I have added more details and have had an easier time fixing old errors. The big destroyer in the scene renders is actually one of my oldest designs and as I have learned more and refined the design it has gotten much better. Some of my most visually interesting ships were the results of experiments in new hull shapes and I liked how those turned out. For the most part though I tend to design my ships to be utilitarian in nature more then visually stunning. I also try and make them as realisitic in design as possible though each race tends to have its own design themes to their ships. One of the things that people will notice in my designs that do not show up in most sci-fi ships is that all of my ships have a visible reverse thrust system. YOu have to have someway to slow down in space, plus I usually model in manuevering thrusters as well, though a few still need that right now. Again thanks for the comments and I will keep you updated.

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
Knight26 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
*Scratches Head* How in the worlds did this happen? HG doesn't have the DYRL liscence, are they just try to push the bounds or did they reach some kind of deal with Big West? I see this as either being a very good or very bad thing. Maybe HG finally conceded to allow the rest of Macross liscences to be released in the US so long as they get to slap their name on it. If so then this could be a precursor to a possible release of Yamatos here stateside, I seriously doubt that, but we will see. Another good possibility is that they are try to press the bounds and if they press to hard they will break international copyright laws and if we're lucky may shut them down forever. *laughs maniacally* I won't even comment on the horrid things that might be on the other end of the spectrum. -
Makes me wonder if any of the great and talented customizers out there have tried their hands at making a 1:48 VF-1D yet, and a real VF-1D, not just a repaint with a cramped cockpit. While I don't have the skills for such a task I know I would be willing to sacrifice one of my 1:48's to the cause, provided I got it back, and of course I would pay for it. Any takers?

Man that made giggle so hard at work that people looked at me funny.
