I actually like that stealth carrier concept, very effecient use of deck space, the only forseeable in my opinion would come from the low launch decks. Turn the wrong way at take off and Bam, lost jet. Plus it would be quite susceptible to high seas. As for the central island on a carrier, sorry, not a modified nimitz, never happen. The concept of twin angled recovery decks won't happen either as it would require multiple traffic patterns, sorry won't work, plus pilots will have to adjust for the wind from different directions. It should be interesting to see which route CVX eventually takes but I doubt that it will be a radical redesign or trimaran hull. You have to understand that the admirals will make the final decision on the eventual configuration and they will not be inclined to make too radical a design, they like their ships to look alike. What we will more then likely see is the low profile nimitz type unless Rumsfeld gets his way and we get the smaller escort carriers or Corsairs he wants. Of course IMHO the whole concept of a stealth carrier is foolish, a carrier has so many holes, sponsons, radars, etc...

Standard texture is applied right now, i may or may not add more details later, and yes it holds an internal bomb bay for ground assaults. Anyway next picture shows it with the Feral-F to give a sense of scale, and yes the nacelles are massive enough to lower the CG to an acceptable level which is what mitigated the original redesign effort. I think it came out quite nicely though it will not feature as much in the books as the Feral.

Ok, now the Ferals offshoot cousin, tentatively named the Untamed. It is an offshoot of the original feral design when it was strictly a stategic bomber. Around about the C or D model the Feral continued on its role of capital ship killer and the Untamed was borught about as the heavy strategic bomber. Ferals are capital ship killers 1 or 2 Ferals can take down most capital ships if they get their torpedoes on target. The untamed on the other hand is an installation killer, designed to destroy star bases and large planetary installations. They carry as many torpedoes as most cruisers and are only rarely used. Ferals are medium range craft, able to make a few jumps out of system and have decent endurance. The Untamed can be out for months at a time and has enough range to make it all the way to the enemy homeworlds if ever needed. The UCSB holds off on using them in this role though, as most races find directly attacking a homeworld to be distateful and in some cases irredeemable. She has 72 torpedo tubes, each of which carries two torpedoes, yep that 144 torpedoes in one bomber. Anyway the rest of the history can come later heres the pictures:

Well I;m back and what a boring trip it was. But it gave me plenty of time to work on the design when the Yardbirds weren't looking over my shoulders or we weren't conducting DTEs. Anyway I changed the hump height on the central hull of the Feral, just a 1ft hike up, I didn't like it any higher. I also as suggest staggered the wings position and then spent an excruciating amount of time panel lining the beast. Now I just have to create a custom texture for it, but I liked the way it turned out. Thanks of the suggestsions guys, any more? First off the 4-view.

Aircraft VS super thread!

The lavi redesign? The lavi was a fantastic plane, if china stays true to its design it will be a very big threat in a close in engagement. However some redesigns are already evident so I doubt it will be as good as the original Isreali aircraft. Chinese aerospace has a history of just turning out cheap knock offs of other countries aircraft, bootlegs if you would. However any cuts they make to the design usually are directly related to making mroe and more of them cheaper. Personnally if I were an F-16 or F-18 pilot I would not want to engage a Lavi close in, or the J-10 for that matter. -
MMM Wonder Woman, Linda Carter, come to my 70s amazon.

The area around the jet sillouhette is what is wet the sillouhette is dry, look at the picture people notice how the ground around where the plane is is glossy.

Interesting sketch, looks a little odd though, kind of funny.

I did this quick reassemble/render, with the raised pit. Moved the pit foward 5 ft and up 2.5 ft and then chamfered back the hump. I think I may have over done it a little, not it seems too high to me. Tell me what you think, just put in the side view for now. If I go with this, the nose will need some work, doesn't look so good to me at this point.

Old pic, truly classic though, the "shadow" is just the silohette left by an F-22 after it rained, pretty funny picture really. There is an even better one at fabulous fulcrums, let me dig up the links.

Ah the IDF, the bastard child of the F-16 and F-18, and from I remember of the WAPJ article about it it is a complete POS. Very low TWR, stress fractures in the wings easily, low combat load weight, just not a very good plane design. -

I thought Wolvie was only like 150-200 yrs old, according to Origins anyway. Also, don't apocolypse and Mystique predate him by a couple thousand years. IRC from convos with friends who are X-Heads, Apoc is the first mutant and Mystique is the liek the second or third oldest in existance, being something like a thousand years old or more.

Macross Plus OAV Sub w/ Guld's Death
Knight26 replied to tim patterson's topic in Movies and TV Series
A friend of mine has an edition like what you are talking about, but he made it himself. He used an edit bay to pretty seemlessly edit in the Movie version of Guld's Death into the 4th episode of the OVA, as well as the full version of the Isamu seduction by Sharron Apple. It was well done, but has not done it to the DVD yet because he does not care for the VHS transfer. I'm sure what you saw was something similar to what he did, probably made by a fan. -
The work firewall here must be keeping me form viewing it, will have to look when I get home, what does it show/say?

AM I the only one who would like to see an alternators/Binaltech/MPC starscream, many I want my bad ass transformable F-15, are you listening Takara? -
don't stress it, I have an idea of what you mean and may work on it tonight if I have time, going on travel tomorrow. Will at the least upload it to my work laptop so I can work on it on ship.

Very nice, a little rough but still nice.

Reagan is no where near ready to deploy, it has event had its CSSQT yet. All its going to be doing until at least January is local ops area work, no deployments.

Man, I thought I commented already, stupid hinky internet connection. Anyway the color job looks great but does not have the life of your pencil sketches. The sketches have a certain gritty quality to them that adds depth, feeling and a sense of life to them, the colored one is almost too clean. If there was a way you could dirty it up just a bit that would great, that's just my opinion anyway.

My designs sometimes have that problem with their profiles, not sure why, something I need to work on. Actually the bottom wing cannot move any further forward because then it would imping on the retro thruster, but moving the upper wing back has always been a consideration, but then the wings could only fold to straight up. As for humping the forward fuselage, that may be a possibility, but would require moving the turrets, which is no big deal. Would like to see what you are imagining here.

Yeah the Feral redesign was made mostly around capitilizing on the anti-capital role but still retaining an internal bomb bay so it can make standard bombing runs. If the new design based on the feral comes into existance it will be a dedicated planet bomber, carrying numerous space to ground weapons, so again we're talking something based off a torpedo, just a lot of them. THis craft would probably not see much use in the books though as I have stated in them that the UCSB (not the college) is not normally in favor of planetary bombardment, especially of homeworlds. However, it would make an effective first strike weapon, something to open the battle up with, send in a wing of the strategic bombers, have them soften up the targets before the large capital ships move in.
-
Interesting, a bit along the lines I was thinking of for a strategic bomber based on the old design. Of course I would do away with the internal bomb bay in the central hull and just pack the beast full of torpedoes, cover it with launchers.
