The blue one is piloted by Keith, the main "antagonist" combatant for most of the show. Does nothing memorable other than kill a fan fav ace pilot. Only shows up to cause mayhem on behalf of his bromance partner that is controlling his brother and the whole country. The red one is piloted by Bogue (aka Booger, of course he gets the bloody scheme...). He was the insignificant second in command that angsts like a preschooler. Only got promoted to fly this unit in the post TV series movie, since Keith offed himself to stop the true big bad, his bromance partner, in the TV finale. Then there's the evil "misguided" bromance partner himself, the true big bad, Roid. Great name... He remote controls his unit, only appearing in the final fight, in white and gold. AKA the pope unit. They might have teased this unit at a hobby show, I'm not sure anymore, but if they did, it's long since become another classic Bandai vaporware. All of the above are the commander Sv-262Hs models with the dog toothed delta wings and have what I call the anubis head. The rest are the grunt units, Sv-262Ba, with the squid head and backward swept wings. The the bulk of them are turquoise. The main entourage of 4 or 5 with faces and names that nobody remembers, originally including Booger, had these, They had some minor custom colored stripes. I don't think anyone remembers who was which color, or was able to tell while in action scenes. Then there's the the pope's fodder units. They were remote hijacked grunt units, controlled by Roid like his pope unit, but nano paint changed from the standard turquoise into a white, silver, and lesser gold scheme. I'd say they look kind of like crusaders. I don't think anyone actually remembers these existing, so its never going to be merchandized. Finally, there's the unit that Mirage, the shafted secondary heroine, stole in the recap/retcon movie. She changed it into her custom magenta and white scheme. Bandai having not made a DX of this heroine valk after so long, IMO is basically an announcement that they refuse to make molds for the Ba model We keep hoping there is a Ba, but I don't think most people realistically have expectations of it happening anymore lol.

New Macross Animation Announced, to be animated by Sunrise
PointBlankSniper replied to seti88's topic in Movies and TV Series
Satelight has been doing the latest Aquarion, and Sentai Red Isekai animes. The latter even just had an OG Aquarion cameo, and Kawamori also designed a separate villian mech for the same ep too. Don't think they could have had time to be cooking anything else. -
I don't have this, but I thought I was a wimp for reaching the point of shaking when trying to play with these kinds of toys. I guess it's actually normal. 😁 We all knew the Draken III was based on the J-35 Draken. But turns out, it also takes the form of its predecessor, the J-32 Lancen

Hory shet, them polygons! Thanks for confirming nobody knows how to cheat the shoulder to intake socket connection, or morph/origami the shoulder armor into that very panel it clips through without completely ignoring the original design. AFAIK, all transforming toys have elected to butcher the shape of or completely ignore the existence of that panel lol 😁 Its such a shame that it's not even a matter of fudging proportions here. Kawamori literally gave up and never gave the mechanism or transformation logic any thought for this one spot, for whatever reason. The best I can think of to solve this is for there to be a track pegged into the delimiter socket, hidden under the triangle, and under the problematic panel, all the way to the shoulder. The shoulder would still need to borrow a 180 twist from the DX to face the inward. Then triangle would have to be jointed to the panel (as seen in line art) and take it along to fold somewhere, probably making things tight for the ventral thrusters in gerwalk. The end result is a shoulder ball that slides forward on a newly invented track, rather than directly plugged in the socket, which probably looks awful without overengineering to hide it all. The most heinous I can come up with is to replace the track with a jointed snake, that coils up like a roll of bike chain, and then an absurdly large shoulder armor caps over it to hide it all lol. Anyway, thanks for the great visual aid for my brain worms.

Now you have 22 models? Your powers are getting out of hand. Actually kind of curios how this depiction transforms the bicep/shoulder area in relation to the intakes and the piece with the red triangle that covers the shoulder socket. Every depiction of it has cheated with different methods of magic and morphing in some way, if not copious amounts of outright completely changing the design and hoping nobody notices, like the DX. In my head, I've solved the nose cone proportions, leg proportions and storage accomodating the correct back pack main engine sizes, with some combindation of transformation tricks that already exist. But shoulder transformation is actually the biggest jank that requires some very abitrary mechanical additions to work as vaguely depicted, especially when delimiter mode dictates there be a socket under the triangle piece.

Hi-Metal R Fire Bomber (VF-19 Fire Valkyrie, VF-11 MAXL, VF-17T)
PointBlankSniper replied to sh9000's topic in Toys
They will sell the Valk with connectors to your liking, and pretend they will release a sound booster designed to fit on it one day. That day may or may not come, like the 21's fold booster, and all the AXs' super packs, or Chuck's anything.- 329 replies

You mean the Lil Drakens? I wish they made the color schemes match the host fighter, especially since they explained the Draken could change color schemes on the spot, and that it was a matter of IFF. I don't get why the drones wouldn't need the IFF signal change as well. It's a brain dead way to move more merchandize of the same mold as well. Maybe they could do a little retcon again someday lol.

Mine has finally arrived from the slow boat. Only did a minimal inspection. The nose bend for battroid is barely a micron off, it is to its right like everyone else's, but it also doesn't exist unless you look very hard for it. I'm sure plenty of other parts that are actually within spec, or general transformation slop, are more crooked than this. The left ankle extension is less stiff, but for now, it only seems to me that it's more a case of the right side being a little too stiff. Hopefully that doesn't change once I put it standing up with armor on. So far no real complaints. Still wish the canompy tint aws more saturated, but I can live with what it is now. Surprised to see Ranka has no way to plug or grip in her seat and stay centered properly, which is very slightly awkard. Don't know if I'm putting her in wrong, or need blue tack or a dab of white glue.

At some point, I thought I was tripping when I thought I saw tan 25s in Delta, but couldn't find them again. I probably mistook some shots of the 17s. But now you've made my delusions real. And you are going to end up building a whole game of your own at this rate lol

Been wondering what happened to this one, since nobody here seems to care much about it or ordered any lol. Colors look better than the promos IMO. The clear parts look kind of murkier than usual though. Hope thats not a sign of quality change.

I've always wondered why the connectors didn't just swing out from the unit itself. Same goes for the fold boosters tbh.- 329 replies

Yeah, but that kind of setting accurate random race gundam cast is not the same thing as hollywood's "all inclusive" representation checklist- 3717 replies

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
PointBlankSniper replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Can't count on the main line animes to do themselves justice these days. Sure ain't gonna count on hollywood live action to lmao It's a Legendary romp at that. I'm sure it will be fun for the kiddies and their "anime fan" parents that have only ever watched DBZ and Pokemon to turn their brains of to. Imma predict Michael Bay mechs made of eye bleeding metal scraps that you can't discern the shape of when in mostion. Corniest melodramatic one liners nobody will ever forget. Physics defying high speed macho gangster fighting that end in brutish overpowering. One call of duty style mad dash to safety sequence. All inclusive cast with a special pick to be poster face for the CN market. One japanese sounding character name to reference the brand heritage. Dubstep fart noises as beam sound effects. Godzilla in the post credits. I'll stop before this becomes a bingo sheet 😁- 3717 replies

I really don't think breaking the canopy in the way it comes out of box can be replicated by the end user. The first time I swapped it, I pulled it in the wrong direction, directly upward and it came out anyway, but nothing broke or permanently warped. It went back together and functioned just fine. The material is super tough so you don't need to baby it. I'm fairly convinced w/e they did to break it in the box did not happen while it was in its fully cured and solid state.
-
I've always wanted to see someone add those shoulder fast pack missile mechanisms to the 19 to a toy. Probably never gonna happen though lol

This looks exactly like the ep where Wakure covered Gangam Style

That is undoubtedly one of the Amazon stories of all time lol

The only cope we can grasp at is that they could still do the ghost, and chuck in all the outstanding accessories, including an extra fold booster also for the 21 in the package to jack up the price and complete the set. This still conveniently leaves room for my pipe dream of the Advance to get a revival and come barebones in the same way, and then have it's super parts release separately too. I just want to slap everything on one unit lol. Not that I have any hopes of it realistically happening...
-
Them schordinger's chest cannon flap things... IDR for sure, but I have mine up flat. I think only one orientation truly gets out of the way for everything in proper transformation, but those bits are so floppy and bendy that they can flop to the opposite position while you're transforming some other part, and then squeeze their way in as is, for every mode lol. For fighter, you want the inner thigh's lip to not be interfered with while inside the rim of the lower chest. No. We just pretend Bandai might release all the missilse, fast pack, arm canmon, and fold booster someday, even though they never will, because the 21 comes with fold booster mounts and no fold booster etiher.
-
Yay, it seems that the images really were a lie and the clear parts are still green. 😁 Unless they just matte coated a renewal for this show... They didn't spin this unit around to show the new screws so I'm not sure if this confirms anything... And I think the dude broke the canard on his old v1 unit. He looks like he was trying very hard to hide it lol.
-
I actually suspect the paint solvent they used might be making the clear plastic soft or brittle and then caused to crumble during another process, but if a piece survives, the solvent evaporates and it goes back to it's intended strength. It could even be that strange film of release agent or w/e it is some of us notices are on the blue parts. Maybe that's the stuff that causes the antenna to bend too. All the images of cracked units so far show no sign of impact or crushing, and nobody has impacted boxes and blisters. The canopy piece is actually really tough as far as I can tell. Other than utter malice from factory workers, I have a hard time believing those things would break like that from the mold, and reach final assemble like that.
-
Yeah, those screws keep the thigh/intakes sandwiched over the actual joint housing. I took it apart while in battroid. It's the mode you want to make it function for and test the tightness in anyway, and the stand will hold on to the toy for you like that if you don't want to set the thing down unevently on all the thin bits. Alternatively, you could probably just through the legs out by the swingbar swivel. You really only just want the swing bar to reach the end of that spring loaded ramp its on, so it catches in the battroid position. Then you have resistance to test the ball joint against. As for the wing not tabbing in. Great that you solved it. IDK if you had the same problem, but one of the causes for that could be the thing I mentioned about the thigh and the rib area. The inner wall of the hollow backside of the thigh needs to slide up inside the lower rib area of the torso. Basically it has to jam up the space where the sliding chest cannons store. If the thigh is on the outside of the chest, it will push the leg out and can cause the wing tab to not line up with the outer calf similar to what you have.
-
You unclasp the plastic intake halves and remove the whole leg from the joint with the screws on the other side. And then you use both screws shown on the joint do a little bit of something, you just don't know what, until its simultaneously too loose and too tight at different points of rotation. And then you never figure out what does what or how to revert it to factory tightness without stripping the screws. I'm not sure where to go from your image though... 😱

Well... at least the canards are definitely also there on the nose.

I think the hardest part of going back into fighter for me was just understanding the inner thigh and rib cage somehow needs to be inside each other. Two parts that shouldn't be paper thin on a mecha but somehow are required to overlap. And then those integral chest cannons in the same area that won't stop sliding in and out as they please, or stop flopping up and down seperately with their inner lining piece that moves independent of it... Everything else can kind of just be winged and be close enough that it shouldn't cause too much suffering elsewhere. I kind of regret messing with the thighs on mine. I ended up making them loose where they need to hold when standing, and stiff where I need them to move to the fighter angle, and the screws started stripping after so many adjustments. None of that really compensated for the original problem which was the spring ramp of the swing bar not catching very well to allow the thigh ball to move without the swing back swinging back. Despite the hangups, it's probably still the most intuitive to transform among the DXs IMO. Most of he engineering gimmicks are iconic in their own way, so they remind you that they are there and guide you through the process just by knowing they exist.
