Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
TG Remix replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Makes sense, considering a giant mech that can transform into an aircraft would be hard to deconstruct in general. And in this economy, best to use everything for their worth. Now I'm wondering what was the references for the SVMF-42 Blue Phoenix VF-4s, until Frontier's 33rd Marine Battalion there wasn't really any indicator of the Marine branch of the NUNS. I thought the same thing about the VF-2 Sonic Birds squadron for the VF-1, but that was understandably connected to the CVN-101 Prometheus before the plot literally connected it to the Macross. That would explain some things...But like you mentioned they were more stunted emotionally as opposed to "fighting unemotionally" like the brain in the jar explained. If anything it's been consistently the opposite even the standard antagonist rogue Zentradi forces are very passionate to living life as warriors. The pilot suit always did feel faintly familiar, and I'm glad it probably wasn't just due to Mikimoto's general style. Always liked the 2036 and Eternal Song pilot suits, they're almost like a good blend between both Earth and Zentradi aesthetics instead of one of the other. Around 776 meters long and can accommodate up to 4500 people, I'd imagine so. It seemed more like a cruise ship then just a something of an airliner like Plus more or less painted it as. On more unknowns of the UN sphere, I know I asked about how Apollo Base and the lunar colony would be like in Macross, and from what I remember there's more colonized moons like Ganymede. Though what got my attention was the other settlements in the rest of the solar system. Miho Miho was said to have been born on a satellite city named "White Flora" that was in Jupiter's orbit, and it seems that Neptune and Venus has their own as well. I'm assuming we don't know much of them as well, but I was imagining something like the City-class ships as a frame of reference, unless they were something more typically designed like O'Neil Cylinders and the like. Wondering for the VFs who have internalized beam guns like the VF-17 could have paint or training rounds stored inside them, since of course the ammunition wouldn't be physical. Does this make Sharon and the Ghost Skynet and Robert Patrick lol. -

Wow, no wonder these things were everywhere in the civilian market in The Ride, much less the Frontier fleet having a surplus amount of them still somewhat in use. Can never go wrong with a balanced performing grunt like that....until the story knocks them about, but it's not their fault they were dealing with VF-14s injected with space steroids with eldritch space vampires as their leaders. On the topic of Shinsei technology, are they known for doing more than just developing variable fighters, or they didn't really open their wings like General Galaxy and LAI did with ships and down to common appliances? And another note, do we have any word on what kind of cargo ships the UN/New UN operated before and after SWI? Reading the timeline on the end of certain Macross 7 Trash volumes (Which side note, was not a fun read other then Mikimoto's almost criminal art direction, it's the only thing I'd say I dislike from the franchise overall. Seriously, where did he get the idea that Zentradi lacked emotions from humans they treat it as a drug?), it said while long range emigrant fleets used specifically designed ships for the journey like the Megaroad-class, the short-range emigrant ships only used lightly equipped, old transport ships due to the population boom on Earth and lack of resources. Though years later in the Otani interview, Kawamori said a lot of old Zentradi ships were used as colony ships for short ranges. Coupled with the fact that the Meltran LSTs were used as transport ships in VF-X2's third mission, I have the working theory that at least some of those and the Quiltra Queleual class ships of the same purpose were refitted into colony ships, whether as intact examples or some of the literal thousands of wrecks that crashed to Earth. -
The thanks should really go to @PixelatedShinobi, the one who recorded the videos as well as getting them up and in the internet! Here's the final set of videos, being the alternate path if you decide not to join Vinderance, as well as alternate date scenarios if you finish certain missions with a high enough rank.

The finale missions 9-12 have been released! But don't worry, there's still going to be more bonus videos afterward as well.

That makes sense, and I was wondering why those designations were different from the norm. Would make sense if they catalogued them through codenames/IDs since there's probably a lot more overlap with squadron/fleet/battalion/etc. names all across the galaxy than we realize. We did see some armored vehicles in the Frontier fleet and some modern renovations of Destroids in the Frontier and Delta era, so that tracks. Though considering variable attacker's Battroid form are said to be more analogous to Destroids in function (or at least the VA-3, Macross Chronicle seems to suggest it for all VAs in a general sense,) I'm wondering if their more ground based orientated designs would help in that regard too. First time I've heard of that, would that be related to the Master File books at all? The 3d models and similar drawn art style seems to suggest that. I'm just imagining the exact opposite reaction to the poor emigrant fleet that discovered the planet that they mine Barunasium from, or the people that were forced to abandoned Elysium. Spending who knows how long cruising through only to deal with the bare minimum at best lol. Though the conditions of habitable planets got me curious. There's some pre-established places that aren't suited to be colonized like Gaul IV, and some planets had to be terraformed to live in like established with Sephira, but at least in the solar system we know there's people who live in the Apollo Base colony on the moon (which is how some of Shammy's family survived SWI), the H.G Wells colony in Mars where Gamlin comes from, and unless I'm mistaken, some colonies were established across other planets like Jupiter around the SDF era. So I'm wondering in the case of the moon or other similar uninhabitable places you make due with what you have and make underground cities a la Gundam's Granada and Von Braun. Makes a lot of sense that you'd have to prioritize what resources you need in a environment like that, in a way why by Delta the VF-31's regular gunpod is a railgun, since at a point physical ammunition would be a lot more tedious to handle economically. -

Going through the on going translation videos of Macross VF-X2, there's a good amount of interesting things that are somewhat revealed for us English audiences. Firstly, the briefing from Mission 2 gives us some distinct units and their designations; The Hyde City blockade force had the VC806 Laramith Air Force, FG651 Mobile Space Force, and the WE-9 Land Force. It's a nice look to see what a planetary military would have instead of what usually makes up a emigrant fleet, especially when the Air Force is named after the star system as opposed to the planet it's based on. Though I do wonder what would a "Land Force" entail in the Macross universe; almost sounds like a niche the New UN Army would have, if not a sect that has more emphasis on Battroids or even something like the Patroids the City 7 Police used. On a side note, almost forgot that Hyde City is the capital of planet Sephira, which is where Leon Sakaki from Macross 30 comes from. Considering the game and novelization of which was written by Ukyo Kodachi, I like the sense of continuity he builds between side material as opposed to how loose Kawamori plays it; not that it's a bad thing, both have their merits after all. Although for a planet that was colonized and terraformed by the Macross 4, it seems like a awfully quick time for a long distance emigrant fleet to discover, as the terraformation process was completed in 2033, which judging from the launch dates of the others (the Macross 1 fleet in September 2030, and Macross 7 in 2038), seems like at most a couple of years to discover the Laramith system the planet belongs to. The one that caught my attention the most when talking to the gameplay recorder was in Mission 3, where the VF-X Ravens are tasked to protect the UN transport ship "Embatelion" (a repurposed Meltran Assault Landing Ship), and their cargo seems to be something that more or less shapes the franchise after it; the Die Zauberflöte, which Wilbur describes as the UN's new communication device that uses "Hyperspatial Resonance Crystals" (which were discovered in 2043) to make fold transceivers. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? It seems like at least the concept of Fold Quartz from Frontier had it's footing from this game, albeit in another, more colloquial term. -
Missions 2, 3, and 4 translated! And I feel the need to give proper credit to PixelatedShinobi who's releasing these videos.

Macross VF-X2 was a 1999 tie-in video game for the PlayStation set in the Macross universe, taking place chronologically after Macross Dynamite 7 and before Macross Frontier. While a dub of the game was planned, the original game has never been fully translated into English - until now. I'm not affiliated with the project except for sharing it on any platform I can, all of the credit goes to these three: TRANSLATION: PYROXENESCANNING GAMEPLAY RECORDING: PIXELATEDSHINOBI TIMING: GETTERDRILL This project will be made available in three forms: hardsubbed Youtube videos that will be going up in batches over the next few weeks, a translated "read-along" script designed for players, and a full batch release on PyroxeneScanning. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ix4rshW4anRiNESfQ3kJIlK9WDlR7bVlqolL95_iHBk/edit?tab=t.0 GET FREE!!!

I can't exactly brush off what the New UN forces did to the Windemereans myself, although it's probably just how I see things but my problems with how they're portrayed is that not only they're presented as comically corrupt that it brings Gundam's Earth Federation's to shame in a franchise who's known for giving very lenient second chances (Especially when there's no "good" representative of the military or government, like 7's Max and Gamlin, Frontier's Catherine, etc.) but the show is more willing to brush off the actions of Xaos as a organization (not the cast themselves, since at worst they're pawns to whatever scheme Lady M has in mind) almost just because they're who the protagonists belong to, which kinda throws a wrench into the more grey areas the entire conflict of Delta in general. Which is a shame because the Windermerean antagonists for the most part were handled pretty well by comparison.

The placement of the VF-14/FZ-109 lineage had always confused me in this regard. In Macross 7 both of them show exhaust coming from the feet and back in their Battroid like any usual VF. But it's more peculiar since on its back is where the canopy is stored, so it seems like there really isn't any room for any thrusters behind to fit comfortably. And while I'm on the topic of the Varauta VFs, I've kept hearing sources that the VA-14 was what the Az-130 Panzersoln was based on, but from my personal research there hasn't been anything confirming that. If anything, sources like the "This is Animation - Macross 7" and "Macross Chronicle" books seem to suggest that the latter is just a further improvement of the VF-14 and Fz-109 models with no mention of the Zentradi oriented VA-14; and yet it they always mention of the FBz-99 is from the Macross 5 fleet's VAB-2. I'm just wondering where would it have come from and if it just wasn't some source of miscommunication or assumption due to how the AZ-130 just so happen to be piloted by the Zentradi they captured.

Guess it depends on if they also have the the main gun Britai's ship in DYRL has, which I assume would be present in the SDF version if it was given the chance to fire it. Always liked the idea of VFs being used in other law enforcement roles than just planetary or escort fleets, it would make sense something of the sort would exist in more local areas. The closest we really got other then City 7's Patroids was the Zentradi Marine garrison and Destroid unit in Al-Shahal; granted those are NUNS but in a world of giants roaming about and civillians having their own fighter jets, I think a "military police" isn't that extreme or far out there. Although I believe the plot of the cancelled Macross 3D VFX OVA was going to involve a police group investigating Zentradi related crimes, which from what little of the trailer showed, had VFs involved. Thank you Isamu, making everything better and worse at the same time as always lol.

The Macross 5 fleet in general seems to favor big showpieces of power, since aside Zentradi styled stealth frigates, the ships they had even in that screenshot were multiple Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs bis type batttleships, something that dwarfed the Battle-class in firepower, maybe capacity, and presumably cost. Makes me wonder why the production side of things didn't do the same treatment with the others, or even make Zentradi flavored carriers in that case. Between this and the VF-19C/MG21 I like the little designation distinctions Frontier introduced with local variants. Makes me wonder what'd it look like if a planet did something along the likes. Lets say, since Volor's VF-171s and Zola's VF-5000Gs were a tad different from the regular builds, would those be the VF-171/Volor or something like VF-5000G/Z?

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
TG Remix replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Does make me want to bring the topic that despite all of their inherit differences from what the Macross 7 fleet has in its arsenal...They were UN ships from the start! Even when not citing Macross Chronicle, in the Kazutaka Miyatake Design Works book, Miyatake states that the concept behind them is that they were "Earth ships" that were remodeled, not unlike what happened with the conversion from the VF-14 to the Fz-109A. Whether that means they were either local UN Varauta ship classes, or uncommon but standard non-hero designs like the VF-14 hidden in certain corners of the galaxy, they do show similar design pathos that showed they were human designed, as they were built with stealth exteriors and "planks" of Energy Conversion Army that even as overtechnology in practice it was only applied to the mechs for Zentradi and not their ships. Personally, with the relevation that they were UN ships, it'd be nice to see a bit more variety in terms of ship types within the military, even if we'll probably never see them on the side of the protagonists as the carriers and Northampton since 7 have been going strong for 4 series since. (Not sure if I should self promote here, but it's a nice little exercise to edit the ships to make them look more conventional before they were modified here) I'm not sure if it's said that the Standard Battleline Battleship was said to be particularly expensive. If anything Chronicles infers that costs are kept low as a mass production type, and the performance is comparable to the average UNG ship of its period. Though I suppose compared to the insanely optimized and inexpensive design like the Guantanamo it would be more costly by comparison. Though it is true, it's a battleship first and foremost...Which does kinda make me wonder if the hull designations of these things under UN control if they'd have the same moniker as the big ships like BB-61 USS Iowa. I'm more convinced it's more to ferry Battroids and other equipment to one place to another, something more analogous to the Quiltra Queleual Landing Ship Tanks. Seems to me that considering the Flagship Carrier Gepelnitch decided to make his home not only was designed to wipe out a small scale Zentradi fleet, but to also dock 30-40 frigates as well as 6-8 bigger ships within its interior docks, I'm assuming that it was going to do much of the grunt work when it comes to sending many VFs at a time when push comes to shove. A 500 variable fighter capacity is nothing to scoff at in the slightest, probably more than some entire fleets and planetary defenses alone through that. -

So that's why I have no recollection on it in the TV show! The short movie iirc was something that was released days after the final episode. In universe I always was kind of confused about its usage within the Varauta Army; the New Giant Carrier was said to be built because they lacked a dedicated carrier like the more conventional Uraga or Guantanamo classes. Yet the Battroid Transport Carrier is described as having launch catapults for fighters, even if it's mainly designed to have them as cargo. I guess it comes to something like the differences between a aircraft carrier and a landing helicopter assault ship, where the latter is more generalized and more firepower oriented? -

So I wanted to talk about the production side of designs for a bit. I was looking through the "This is Special Animation - Macross 7" artbook, and something caught my eye on page 52, the final page where it was going through the last of the Varauta ships it had presented there. I noticed a design that's nowhere seen anywhere else, from concept art books to any official mentions elsewhere: Underneath the High Speed Raiding Space Cruiser there's a similar looking but different ship dubbed the "バトルスーツ母艦," which roughly translates as "Battle Suit Mothership." To me at least somewhere in 7's production it seems to imply that Zentradi Battle Suits was going to be apart of the Varauta Army's arsenal, which would track considering they got a whole group of unwilling recruits of Zentran through the Macross 5 fleet. It also seems like it would eventually become what we know as the Large Battroid Transport Carrier/Mothership (バトロイド大型輸送母艦), as not only it's not in this book along with other later designs like the Vanguard Frigate and New Giant Carrier, but it also has some design similarities like the tube pattern, the bow mounted beam guns, and the flat stern. Switch battle suits to the functionally similar Battroids, and I think I kinda cracked the case. -
I come back with more better attempts, and this time its with their main battleships! Varauta Standard Batteline Battleship Varauta Large Battleship I decided to change how I tackle the high angle beam guns; with more thought to it, I feel like they were something that were always there before modification like the vast majority of the Fz-109 weapons compared to the VF-14's. To keep the overall aesthetic from the previous edits I mainly centering the openings to the middle to give them the same function, and to somewhat keep the "eye" trait they had in the shows, if not a lot more subtle. That means I have to change the previous ones to match, but that's no real biggie.

Never heard of that one! What story did she come from? The defense forces would probably be on the small side too I'm imagining, even moreso with short range fleets since they're already in close proximity to Earth and every other well developed planet in that 100 ly radius. Either that or Zentradi ships, and they already have their own landing ships through the Quiltra-Queleual LSTs and the Assault Module of the Queadol-Magdomilla class (though with the Okeanos from Frontier I'm wondering if they can act independently from the Oribital Module, or just rid of the bigger part of the ship entirely.) There seems to be enough assault and transport ships the NUNS have that can be used for landing operations. Since the Varauta ships were from a local planetary fleet before being modified, you can probably use their Giant Battroid Transport Carrier for the job, or a Large Battleship that Gigile commanded since that was said to be used as both an assault ship and a flagship. In the Macross II continuity, there is the Daedalus II that I'm quite fond of from Macross 2036; essentially a assault carrier type ARMD built with the capability to commit Daedalus Attacks, with the same exit ports the original ship had on each side. Interestingly Battleship of the Galaxy also included it in its own take of the main continuity. -

Considering how small scale the story in that game is, it wouldn't surprise me that recapping it as detailed as it's sequel, much less the series and movies, was not a huge priority in the slightest. The biggest thing that Macross Chronicle took from it was the Feios Valkyrie, nothing about the improved mechs or even the further development of Sound Energy that the Milky Dolls were formed for. Would be interesting as a story concept where a fleet or planet try to recreate or mimic parts of a culture with what little they have, only to have something unique come out of it. I'm also assuming the Asuka II didn't make it unscathed from the glassing as well? Those also seem to be attached to Central NUNS fleets as well, either as flagships or operating by themselves, since they have a pretty large consist by themselves. I'm assuming if something smaller like a planetary defense force wanted a Macross-type ship, they'd be better off with something smaller like a Quarter-class or an Elysion type. It's not impossible, but it is true that most of what we see try to replicate previous human culture, whether it's ranges from surface level similarities and aesthetics...Or full weaboo territory considering Macross 11 is practically a American themed amusement park. Wouldn't be Macross without that core! And on the topic of ships again, the existence of the Marines branches implies that amphibious assault ships are still a factor somewhere for the military. I know Zentradi Marines as a few options for themselves, but I'd imagine there'd be a Daedalus successor after SDF, since everything else kinda did in their own right (SDF Macross with the Battle class, ARMDs through the Guantanamos, and I suppose the Oberth and Prometheus with the Northampton and Uraga.) Granted not with its original battle tactics with invading territory and the hundreds of Destroids and such, but VF and VA Battroids alone can more than enough fill the same role. -

I'd assume Isamu's served under that bubble, since instead of being placed in the middle of nowhere for his reckless attitude he's stationed somewhere relatively close like Eden for what they thought would be a fools errand of being the (most recent) YF-19 test pilot. Like skectchly theorized, VF-X2 seems to take place around the area as well. Makes sense for both games, as M3 has Max and Miria bepop around planets with the newest VFs at the time (iirc Miria was a test pilot for both the VF-11 and gave pointers for the Queadluun-Rhea's development in Eden) and really left that part when the Macross 7 departed from Earth, and in VF-X2 that plot was revolved around a Earth-supremacist faction that wanted to enforce their pro-unification stance on other parts of the UN, and like Plus had its finale around Earth. At this point I'm convinced the glassing of Earth was the Library of Alexandria all over again, but increased to a incomparable amount. On the topic of Battle-class operation, from my read of the Battleship of the Galaxy Vol.2, it creates a interesting notion that not only it was made as a symbolic ship representing the human race, but there was a lot more of them made than just for the Macross fleets; there's even three variants with one being designed as is, another for emigrant fleets (which has the Macross 4 as an example,), and the 2nd generation of Macross ships (showcasing the Battle Frontier) The first version presented there said to have more than 40 of each type of ship around 500 ly alone by 2065, often being in squadrons of several ships of the same type to prepare for Zentradi fleet or Supervision Army attacks. Considering VF-X2's Macross 13 wasn't attached to a fleet and Battle Astraea being the flagship of the New UN Spacy 7th Fleet, it surprisingly works on that end. Though, and I'm aware that it's a doujin, it seems very excessive since that's around 2100-2800 variable craft alone; highly doubt entire emigrant/planetary fleets alone can match that fire power! Then again the Macross 1 and Macross 5 fleets had three City and Battle type ships in its consist, so maybe it's common to have a squadron of them as it is to have only one ship. And then Master File insinuates that 5th generation Emigrant fleets like the Macross Olympia has a whopping 900 ships. That's almost twice the amount the US Navy has! Imagine if the NUNS didn't double down on Ghost drones and they need to have personnel on all of them. It feels like how long fold traveling can take can feel a bit haphazard, since Digital Mission VF-X's Elysium was described to be on the edge of the galaxy, and the Anti-UN Zentradi force there folded their ships to Earth pretty quick. And that's not mentioning the Megaroad-1's three year long journey to the center of the galaxy as well. This has been a pretty helpful map, at least to get a general feel of how close many of these places could be. It's kinda why I wondered since Sephira is said to be relatively close to earth if both Xaos and SMS operated nearby as well, or at least their general range of operations. (and as a side note, very interesting to see the old fandom's curiosity through the worlds for the RPGs as a newbie myself. The Macross 15 fleet's escapades in particular were fun reads.) And to piggyback that, I kinda liked the "How Perceived (By) Others" relation notes, just to at least see how planets or colony fleets think of others since aside from "cultural exchanges" like what we see between the Frontier and Galaxy fleets, and Windemereans being in their own bubble for who knows how long, we don't really get that. Can see some colony planets be jealous or want to move to Eden for being a rare Class A-type planet, or trade links between a few since some are noted to be agricultural and industrial fields. -

Poor communication on my end, but how seemingly developed and well explored the 100 ly area is I was moreso saying it'd be interesting to focused on that instead of some random place thousands of light years in the galaxy. I don't think it'd be unified like the Brisingr Alliance, but there's a lot of potential to see how different planets, governments, and cultures grew from the early days and interact with each other, especially in such close proximity within the Central UN itself after decentralization. Since even 7 to an extent there's been plot points of Emigrant Fleets interact with one another, so it's not out of range of possibility as well. Makes me wonder for the bigger UN ships (Uraga, Macross-types, and even the pre-modified Varauta Army ships like the Battroid Transport Carrier) if it'd be possible to modify them to hold some giant crew. Unless it's just easier to just modify/built a standard Zentradi ship for that. By a bridge, does that mean the bridge at the front of the ARMD, or the carrier-type one seen in the DYRL type? That's a bit interesting, seeing space ships modified for navy operations, since iirc the Uraga is the only ship purposefully built for such. And I'm not sure there was any more Prometheus and Daedalus type ships built after the first Space War...Which is a weird name in hindsight since we never got, say, a Space War II or the like. Honestly with space ships doing more atmospheric operations I wonder if a standard Macross Air Force got more firepower then ours, practically a few steps away to get a Skies of Arcadia or Castle in the Sky like world in the franchise. It does make me ask, are there any specifications for how fold faults work? As in, could they pop up anywhere in the galaxy or any limitations on how wide their reach is? -
The surname being so on the nose is absolutely on purpose lol. I promise you there's a point to it other than just fun fan-service. As for what she does story wise...She'll definitely be a singer, maybe not in the way that's expected in a Macross story. A good amount! So much so that Cadi changed pretty much as a main character and details on Tiera (mostly visuals) have been changed a lot. Not sure if I can update just yet, but I will say that I do have two chapters done in the drafting stage; 70% of the story is planned out in advance as well. I apologize for not updating this as frequently as I should, but this is something I really want to finish and share to the best of my abilities.

The APC (armored personal carrier iirc) was the first boss of the DYRL game right? There was a surprising amount of mechs that expanded what a Zentradi fleet would have in its arsenal, like salvage ships and even a jamming device where it stops the broadcast of the Minmay Attack for a good bit. On the point with M3, what'd be nice to see that blank space being developed is how far the UN reach has gotten, since we know about not just the long range fleets like the Megaroad and early New Macross ships (including whatever the Island Jackpot was supposed to be) spread humanity far and wide, but also the short range emigrant fleets that did the grunt work of populating the galaxy 100 light years from Earth. It's probably not likely since most stories in the franchise takes place either on colony ships or frontier planets, but it'd be nice to see how developed the world got immediately after SWI. Kinda love the idea of the ARMD (or any NUN ship) having that amount of modularity, would make sense considering how flat the middle of it is. Would make sense to have a module (or just any ship built with giants in mind) since in a emergency you'd probably want to have at least a few hands on deck for any first response, or hope nothing bad happens to the ship as you macron/miclonize. It's what almost did Klan Klang in the TV series...If it wasn't for Michael sacrificing himself for her sake. The water landing type got me curious, would that be for the ARMD to do atmospheric operations, or just to land in water for potential aerospace/amphibious missions? Zero more or less did the same with the Unification War, so it's completely possible all things considered. Especially since in the context of VF-X2 it wasn't presented as much of a big deal like Frontier did. Mostly because of the retcons but building more on what's established is always nice. (I'd love that, much less any Macross game to get rereleased, but it seems unlikely. Can only pray for a English translation on my end) -

I'm assuming that this is more in a generalized sense and not everywhere in the New UN military has that problem (Especially if morale stemmed from the top and pro-autonomy parts of the UN liked more independence away from it.) Though I guess even one of the most richest fleets in the galaxy has morale issues with military personnel then it's probably commonplace across NUNS control. Narratively it was definitely to make SMS a lot more competent as the main characters, but I wonder if because of the more wider adoption of ghost drones and the decentralization, it made military more lax with certain commitments, having a local defenses of planetary defense or a colony fleet be more like a reserve force. And then when they finally got VF-171EX's to properly fight against them, SMS STILL gives them grief for being copycats. Damned if they do, damned if they don't, anything belonging to the NUNS in Frontier and Delta can't win no matter what! Something else has been bugging me for a bit; if following Sky Angel's notion that a postwar ARMD's consist would be 24 Super Valkyries, 120 Ghosts, and 94 Regults, what accommodations would there be for the giant Zentradi pilots there? It must be a tight fit since as roomy as the space carrier was it's still smaller than the smallest ship in a Zentradi fleet (430 meters vs the Picket Ship's 500 meters), unless they have a lot of micloning machines on standby. Only close thing we got to address that in the series proper was Frontier with the Pixie Team being stationed on the Macross Quarter, but even then those were just three at max pilots that could be easily accounted for. -

From what I seemed to read both SMS and Xaos has branches on Sephira, and considering that's the planet where Hyde City was located in Macross VF-X2 seems to imply that it's far enough to be considered a frontier planet, but also close enough to Earth to be considered a target for Black Rainbow, since iirc the game was mostly focused on fighting on central UN territories. You know, considering how SMS kinda went against the Frontier's fleet back to deal with the Galaxy fleet themselves in a large conspiracy (in the TV series), essentially did a prison break scheme for a known criminal about to be executed (in Sayonara no Tsubasa), and Xaos' unlawful participation in the 2nd Windemerean War amongst other illegal actions, I'm wondering when will it be the time where a PMC group goes to the ways of Blackwater and becomes the antagonist for the series, maybe even SMS and/or Xaos themselves. If they can vilify the NUNS at every opportunity surely with them is also possible. Would be a interesting thing to tackle, something like that was played for all of its drama in Gunbuster with it's FTL travel. Maybe that's why some characters in the franchise seem to disagree with the concept of aging lol.
