  1. I wonder how much this plastic crack is gonna cost me?
  2. Never keep them in the box. I learned my lesson with Beagle’s Ride Armor Stig (Scotty B) the red dye on the cloth had peeled away while it was still MIB. Some of my McFarlane Toys Mint on Card had yellowed over time and they were stowed away. So yeah no.
  3. This HiMetal Orgroid packs a lot detail in such a small package. All of HiMetal lineup from the Dougram collection from several years back to all the Macross valks and destroids is a testament to Bandai’s commitment to the demands of the franchises respective fandom. Orguss is one of those obscure 80s animated series that makes you go WTF was that and seeing for the first time around the early oughts, I can appreciate its quirkiness and in respect of it’s world building aspects. Their 4 modes is unique especially the tank and seeing it depicted in their anime intro left me kinda baffled as to why you would sacrifice all the agility to a lumbering tank. Orguss Trailer I was anticipating for that mode to be a hover tank but rather than the animation team taking it as a literal tank never bothered taking the possibilities to “eleven” by replicating it like the Russian Ekranoplan which is a ground effect vehicle. It’s one of many of those WTF moments where they literally took the word cockpit and made the pilot sit in the robot’s codpiece. Lots of suggestive poses for the female pilots to present themselves while sitting in their vehicles and whatever tentacle like appendages protruding from the back of their heads to indicate some emotional state of which the character is undergoing at that moment. So, yeah the tank does not make sense to me and all of what was mentioned but I could appreciate the weirdness factor. With that said, the tank mode for the HiMetal series is the weakest out of the four when compared to Megahouse’s HiSpec which was rock solid. For one, the crucial difference is that the Megahouse version provided all of the tabs to secure the mode as well as an adapter for the stand to make this mode stable when compared compared to Bandai’s offering which offered no adapter for the stand.
  4. Bandai needs to finish out the rest of the Macross Plus lineup like VF-11 Thunderbolt w/ fastpacks and booster pack during Isaumu's chase plane trying to keep pace with Guld's YF-21's areal trials.
  5. I'm still waiting for Robotech's ride armor to have the rider mount on the bike. Will it look like the old Gakken where the rider is way oversized for the bike or does Harmony Gold / Toynami / Kitz Concepts whatever this cyclone is cuz it looks like a hodge podge of bits and pieces from here and there and applied over-exaggerated detail that makes the whole bike's appearance way too busy. It looks like a concept design that a student concocted and applied over the Gakken mold. Don't get me wrong, I might purchase one but if the build and finish is not there this will quickly become a one and done!
  6. Rearrange shelf to make way for the omegas.
  7. The best version of the Orgroid. At least the availability of this rendition are attainable when compared to their Takatoku counterpart. The box packaging is a chip off the old block but of course in this “Joey B economy” they had to replace the styrofoam and settle with a plastic tray. Really great version and I have the hi metal versions of it but these have a heft to them that makes them a cut above.
  8. the head laser snapping off is hardly a blip, crazy glue that f_cker on and done.
  9. Thanks for the embarrassing open fly moment there! 😃 I blame my lack of sleep and now I have migraine having to complete the battroid mode. I thought this mode would be my least favorite after all the early pre/order reviews, I have a change of heart, all due to the robot mode’s rock solid build with a really aggressive appearance that really captures the stylized appearance from the anime. The backpack appears to be enormous but that is due to the flat appearance of the photos we’ve seen before its release. You have to see it live in person to really appreciate Bandai’s talented engineers to pull off a difficult design to maintain an aesthetically pleasing profile for ALL modes. Now the shoulders are a big concern and a video demo guide is surely due to be produced which will avoid all the early reports of breakage and identifying potential stress points. Thankfully none to be reported with this batch. Yeah I can see Bandai taking future portions of my pay stub by releasing M7 versions. Really rock solid product release possibly TOTY candidate! OK Bandai release the Thunderbolt!
  10. Ok! It took me this long to finally compose the gerwalk mode since my last post which is almost 1 - 1/2 hour. There were parts poppin out. Lots of “Bandai-esque” decision to complicate the transformation but towards the end of the process, the overall appearance is worth it. Solid piece in this mode and as you can see from the pictures, this half zentradi can hold his liquor since there were no weak joint on the knees and I’m great full to Bandai by adding the ratcheted articulated point near the ankles enables the figure to have poses that weren’t possible with Yamato/Arcadia. So far, two out of the three modes holds a gold star above the Y/A offerings.
  11. Fast pack w/ faux gun pods will barely get off the ground really suffers the Yamato 1/72 belly flop. Overall the fit and finish is stellars above Arcadia/Yamato. The fast pack has a fair amount of detail and it’s gratifying to receive a product with some heft. It’s like a brand new car experience when you shut the driver’s door and the weight of the door slamming onto the chassis sounds a well built package and it doesn’t sound like a tin can. I’m impressed so far. Moving onto the other modes.
  12. Opened the 1st out of the 3 and what I witnessed is a bent antenna. Really. I guess $260 + above has a lower tiered QA. I hope the rest of the unboxing goes smoothly.
  13. Unix's veritech waist to hip ratio is absolutely ghettotastic with twerking gimmick! Absolutely dead before arrival! Nice try.
  14. I waited for months for this, and the eventual release date for fulfillment had past last week which is remarkable for a 1500 limited production run. Sideshow “A Man with No Name” rode it n town yesterday and finally had time to break it out from the gigantic box. My first Premium Collectible from Sideshow is really a sight to behold! Attention to detail and just a remarkable effort in production artistry and efficiency. Here are some photos to shut me up!
  15. Here is my collection of assorted Yamato/Arcadia and Bandai Macross as well as Mospeada.
  16. Latest haul thanks to the peeps at ShowZ!
  17. I would love to see a VF-1J from Doyusha reproduced again that is the only missing item in my collection.
  18. Wow! At least the peeps on that planet has the excuse to space travel to visit their families on the other wrecked planetoid. It seems the all anime had been done by one studio or perhaps to one sound engineer or foley artist who was responsible for all the sound effects of that era? I don't know any other Japanese Super Robot could eat a planet though.
  19. I might have to watch Turn A GUNDAM after all it’s design is owed to the Blade Runner conceptual artist Syd Mead!
  20. My favorite mech to mimic real world scale are the Macross Plus mechs but I can appreciate the super robot over projected hype machines which has captivated creators and the general audience to imagine wilder power wielding abilities. My middle of the road mech that combines real world applications and fantasy is Gasaraki. The outlandish mech powered to infinity and beyond within my standard of believability is Escaflowne. I’m sure that the forums have a breadth of knowledge when it comes to this subject matter, what is yours?
  21. This cyclone reminds me of a first year student going overboard with bevels into their 3D modeling portfolio.
