Hey, Roy is no coward ya hear! I could do lots of scenes using this photograph. Like you said, the possibilities are endless.
-
Thanks! Glad ya like it. Thanks again for providing the model.

I tried posing him in a similar positition as the VF-1J but it looked too repetitive. 'Something by Rodavan' is 'Regult model by Rodavan' There's more in there. Try looking for the skull squadron graffiti's

I used a bump map for both the panel lines and the weathering. It just isn't noticeable because of the distance of the camera and because I added a noise effect and a slight blur to all rendered elements to match the photograph. I don't want to exagerate any bump/displacement maps just to show that they're there. The only place you'll notice any real distortion is on the Regult's feet and blue part of it's head.

Actually, all the mecha are out of scale. If I'd make them the right size the VF-1J would be out of frame from the chest up and the Regult would fit in between the buildings. Call it artisitc freedom. As for the VF-1S pose, a 'realistic' pose would mean it had gone throught the roof, again, artistic freedom. Thanks Hiriyu! I didn't create the models. scott8539 provided the VF models and Rodavan created the Regult model. I just created the scene, textured the models, posed the models, and rendered it. Here's a screencap of the scene. Hope I'm not spoiling the pic by showing how it was made. The big blocks were used as to cast and recieve shadows/reflections on and from the mecha. Thanks jenius! That's actually exactly the way I imagined it. The Regult arrived at it's current position walking up the street and is in the middle of turning to its right to look at something down between the buildings.

Haven't had any problems for at least a week.

Like the topic title says, this is my first major Macross CG project. It was created using 3ds Max and Photoshop. Hope ya'll like it. I'd like to thank a few fellow members for helping me out in various ways. scott8539 for providing the 3d models of the battroid VF's. I got the models a few years ago when I first decided to learn 3ds Max, but was always intimidated by their complexity (rigging, UVW mapping etc.) untill about two months ago when I decided just to start a project and see how far I could get. Thanks Scott! Rodavan and chillyche. Rodavan is the creator of the Regult model used in the image and chillyche helped me get my hands on it. (with Rodavan's permission of course!) Thanks guys! Last but certainly not least, Mr March. I needed someone to give me feedback on my work and could think of noone better for the job than him. His critical eye and vast knowledge of Macross mecha has been invaluable during the process. Thanks buddy, couldn't've done it without you! This was so much fun, I already started work on my next project.

Damn you work fast! You're like the HWR MKII of 3d modelling!

Actually, you'll notice a slight shadow to the right of the bus. I didn't add that, it's in the original picture. Thanks for the advice on the lighting though. I rushed the lighting a bit (just a mr daylight system) and didn't have too much time for good post work. I got the model from MW member scott8539. It's not transformable.

lol It's a 3d model which was provided by a fellow MW member.

Can't continue with the other project I'm working on, so here's a little something I did to kill some time.

Yup, He's going to send me his Regult next week, if he can find it. In the mean time, a low poly Regult would be great to get the lighting and posing sorted out before I get Rodavan's model. a .3ds file would be fine.
-
That looks pretty sweet! The nose reminds me of the VF-11.

Fixed! We hope you enjoyed your flight on MW Airlines, please recommend us to your friends!

How could I have missed this thread?!? Amazing work!

Thanks buddy! I'm going for complete photorealism, it's still far from finished though. I searched everywhere, even google warehouse. There are plenty of invid models but no regults anywhere. I you could help out that would be great!

Hey everybody, I'm working on a CG project and need a hi poly 3d model of a Regult to finish it. I'd make one myself but I have absolutely no 3d modelling skills. a .max file would be preffered but a .3ds file will do too. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Check my avatar for a little preview of the project.

Need help with meshing CG valk to real world pictures
Dante74 replied to Thai Boxer 9901's topic in Fan Works
That first pic looks familiar. None of those renders will work well with those pics. You'd need to adjust the lighting in the 3D file and re-render. Also, that angle on the first render won't work. The viewpoint in the render is lower the the viewpoint from the cockpit. The only pic that could work is the second one. I'd love to have a go at it, but I'm too busy working on a project of my own. BTW: Anyone got a Hi-res MAX file of a Regult lying around? -
The MW Automotive Thread Quattro SpecV

List. 330 P4 250 LM 250 GTO 288 GTO Beefed up 308. It lost sexy, but gained agression. 250 GT California Spyder Dino 246 GT Ferrari Mythos Concept Pinifarina concept on a Testarossa chassis F40 Thought is was ugly untill I saw one in person. The 360 doesn't come anywhere near that list. The 458 might, but I'll have to see it in person to decide. -
You don't think Shawn hooked the site up to the economy do you?

So because it looks good, it automatically handles terribly?
