I know what you mean by cert weenies, i only got them for the sake of "credentials" to get a raise (aside from the CCNA, the other three are just titles). Honestly, your computer won't tell you to run a defrag pretty much ever (which i did say in my previous post; though honestly in Windows 98 i believe it asks you to do it if it finds the first fragment of a file but can't find it's accompanying parts) but if it were me, it would be one of the first things to do right after scandisk does it's job, it's almost standard affair. And even with modern harddrives that spin up as fast as 10,000rpm, defrag is still a good tool, realistically if your harddrive spins up that fast, it wouldn't take hardly anytime at all to defrag. Don't get me started on "i'm consultant with xxx cert" i work for DC government, EVERYONE is that guy and furthermore knows absolutely nothing pertaining to their cert. The only cert i have real respect for are the Cisco people because you really have to know what you're doing to get CCNA and CCNP; MCP MCSE/A are book read credentials that really have no swing unless you're working on them on a daily basis (which unfortunately i have to do ) or if you're stuck having to do Active Directory. -

While you may not be a "computer engineer" i on the other hand am (A+ Net+, MCP, CCNA), and the first part of the file does determine where the rest of the file is in that when it is saved (regardless of FAT32 or NTFS) the first part of a file cluster (let's say 1024kb file where each cluster eats up a 512kb cluster) will determine where the other clusters are (in this case only two, the first determining where the second resides). What i was discussing of "lost" clusters is that if the first file cluster is at A1 and the second file cluster (since Windows decided A2 wasn't available to write on) is at say D5 but D5 is damaged or can't be found, then it will tell you there's a "broken file" which sometimes scan/check disk will fix, sometimes it won't. That's why eventhough Windows OS will of course run a breif check of where your files are (only the first cluster of each file), it doesn't guarantee that your harddrive won't "lose" it or it will be "accidentally" deleted with another program who believed that cluster belonged to them. In other words, the more you tell Windows to remember where your files are, the less likely they are to be lost. Which means regardless of a new system or old system it's a good idea to run defrag. Space issue is more in regards to Fat32 system where a defrag can actually be used to save space (Fat 32 using larger file clusters so there would be lots of lost space at the end of each cluster). And I incorrectly stated that if you're at the brink of a full hard drive it will tell you to defrag, it will automatically run a disk clean up utility, but it is a good idea to defrag if you have a FAT32 system, for NTFS it normally doesn't matter. -
to elaborate, if trying to bring it up to speed with the PS3, the HD DVD would push it over the edge, but even with a few extra controllers and the expanded harddrive (which would be a definite for me if i picked up an XBOX) you're still at a high price point.

i completely agree; I wouldn't mind picking up an Xbox360 but after you finish with all of the add ons, you're basically paying the same price as a PS3. I'm just waiting for Nintendo to start uploading their video game library with NES and SNES games that i used to play when i was a kid. Then i will definitely own it, and it will probably be my primary system.

your computer won't tell you to run a defrag unless there's a file it can't find the rest of (as in it finds the first fragment but can't find the rest) or if you're coming to the brink of a full hard drive. It will however tell you to run scandisk on multiple occasion, which is necessary for completely different reasons. You should also clean out your internet files in internet explorer (or any other browsers) along with firefox for good measure. For Internet explorer it varies, but you can go through tools>internet options>delete cookies/delete files or in the newest rendition of IE7 tools>internet options>delete>delete all most web browsers store cache in their own proprietary places, IE defaults to temp int files and other folders within windows OS so you can get to them using the control panel. -
Oh Good Funimation has a hand in it, that means i'll get to watch it on the Funimation Channel at some point.

lol, right before Ferrari was getting their arses handed to them by the Americans; that's a gorgeous car, btw

Sony did the same thing with PS2 (taking a loss) and made up the overhead in video games, unfortunately they don't have any good games for the PS3 and coupled with the crippling initial costs of the system itself, it doesn't look good for them in the long run. As a parent, there is no way i would spend 600 bucks on a gaming system for my child (or myself) and then another 60+ a pop per game; for that much i would just build myself a new computer. Also, early tests of BR Vs HDDVD are putting HDDVD in a much better position, HD DVD is providing better pixel quality with players that are starting at half the cost of BR players. Irregardless, of format wars, i'll just wait for hybrid players and the inevitable hybrid optical drives and just run everything from my computer... so in my case, computer wins.

quite the opposite (generally) though it's better to do both, once through the system and again through your personal browser, it's good to do a system cleanup and a HD defrag at least once a week/month (whenever you have time). I could go into explaining why but then it'd hi-jack this thread, and "computer" threads don't go well here at MW. -
With the amount of exposure this project has gotten i'm sure Ferrari has heard of it by now. Since the man did such good justice to the accuracy and spirit of the vehicle, i think Ferrari will just take it as good publicity (he picked a winner of a vehicle too, i'm sure Ferrari would've been pissed if he picked any Ferrari's from the mid 60's). I'm kind of surprised he chose the 312 since it really isn't that famous of a vehicle (although it won 11 of 12 races it entered), but i'm sure if he picked something more "modern" Ferrari probably would've gotten on his case about it, but since it's a one off, i still doubt he'll see much heat. I would personally LOVE to see him replicate a Ferrari F40 LM. That is my dream Ferrari.

In Mr. March's defense, these were all statements made before it was discovered that the rt.com $40 set was in fact the repackaged animeigo box set; originally assumed to be the ADV set of which this argument was based on.

Seconded... makes the driver lame too.

I've never liked the Virtua Fighter Franchise, it was always too catered to the amateur button masher unlike the Tekken and just recently Soul Calibur Franchise (which dramatically changed in the last few offerings). Plus the characters are bland and the fighting engine is nowhere near as engaging as Dead Or Alive; this game definitely doesn't make me wanna jump on the PS3. When the newest Tekken or Capcom offering gets released, then i'll think about saving my pennies.

I fortunately only had that happen to one of my covers (disk 2 slip cover) due to the title tape for the indivdual DVD packaging. You'd figure if they give it to you in a boxset there'd be no need to individually wrap them.
-
The box art is classy; I never owned the original Animeigo set, so i'm not sure if this is just repackaged left overs or a full re-release but i notice the plastic on the interior of the disks is cheap (even removing them super carefully still seems to pick up some fine stress). I recall this being a problem on the original so i'm going to guess it's repackaged left overs. In any case, this is the first time my wife has watched Macross (she always nagged what the "big deal" was) and after the first 5 episodes she LOVES it. Now i can't get her to stop watching it; we've only had the set for about a week and we're over half way through the series. I have converted a non-believer, so now she doesn't mind me making a few extra Yamato purchases here and there. Her opinion is interesting, because eventhough the "love triangle" isn't really in full force, she wants Hikaru to go for Misa (she has no idea the outcome since i won't tell her). Her perspective is that Minmay doesn't know what she wants and Hikaru hooking up with an older chick is hot... maybe they had women in mind when writing the "romantic" side of it.

That's the only way Pontiac is getting anything good is if they steal it from Holden (or Opel).

The Cayenne was made because VW pressured them to make it (so they could monopolize and exploit it like they do with all of their subsidiaries), at the time Porsche had the Carerra GT on their plate which they had to put on hold because of that Cayenne piece of crap. The article A7 posted was interesting, there definitely need to be more RWD sedans on the market that aren't German and cost a fortune.
-
That's a QC problem waiting to happen; Yamato can't tampo straight skulls, i'm hoping they could get all of the intricacies of the striped yellow to reflect symmetrically on the SV (if they get it right the first time, then that would be awesome).
-
Keyword in that sentence is diesel. You could put a proper diesel motor in a Smart and it could tow a 747, I've never been a fan of the VW Cayenne7

That pic really makes me want it in 1/60 Yamato form.

i Completely agree, i don't see a Joy Stick replacing the steering wheel anytime soon. How many letter variations is MB going to use? SL CL CLS SCL, they don't even make sense anymore just like their displacement numbers not making sense anymore (BMW included). The only german company that still makes sense is Audi, class is alpha numeric then displacement is and drivetrain is written on the rear.

i bought and received mine. Already started watching it with the Mrs. definitely loving it.

Episode 5 definiately had them, i can't recall if Ep4 did or not since it's been awhile since i've watched M0.
