What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
26662 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I could not disagree more. I love how blurring the visuals really captures just how crazy-fast and frenetic the action is to a bystander, because we, the audience, are bystanders ourselves. You might not have gotten far enough into season 2 to see three scenes where highly skilled hunters are dumbfounded that they can't follow the action because it drives home the point just how OPed our protagonist is compared to S ranks. Those particular scenes would have been far less impactful for me if the animators had animated smooth and clear visuals of each battle. My preferences aside, I totally get your point and I can understand someone wanting a bit more from the animation. I can't wait for season 3! -

Speaking of voice acting... Just started Devil May Cry on Netflix. I'm 4 1/2 minutes into the first episode and I am in love with the voice acting! Producers of Lazarus: THIS IS HOW YOU VOICE AN ANIMATION!!!!! [And the animation itself is top notch too. I'm not familiar with the IP so I have no idea if what I'm seeing here is the usual or an exception.] Edit: I hope I didn't speak too soon. The protagonist showed up at about 8 minutes and the voice actor is only slightly better than the typical English/American talent. -

Watched the premiere of Lazarus on HBO Max. I spent more than a decade as a neuroscientist so I was pretty stoked to explore a world driven by an artificial neuromodulator. Unfortunately, it was a tough watch. While the story's concept is exciting, the episode was *very* difficult to enjoy simply because of the incredibly flat and off-putting voice acting. I tried the alternative languages but none was any better than the English track. Not sure if it's worth sticking with it. -

"...big names like the TLK version of Megatron haven't gotten a figure since the TLK movie line." Bayverse is terrible: nonsensical plots, humor that misses more often than not, and bots that appear to be made of cheap aluminum foil. This is music to my ears.- 17100 replies

Don't I know it. I've got the tactical pod, the officer's pod, and two fighter pods on preorder.

Love the update. TY! I received my battlepod and two artillery battlepods on Monday. I love their size and heft. My only complaint is that I would have bought 1 more if the S&H hadn't been so outrageously expensive.

Solo Leveling season 2: GIVE ME SEASON 3 TODAY! I didn't read the source material and I avoided spoilers all season long. Season 2 was a delight, start to finish. And that opening theme song is a banger. -

I gave Gundam a chance. I watched a couple different series (I think the original, Char's revenge, and a third one) but gave up on the IP when it seemed like they were all rehashing the same plot with similar/related characters. But back to aesthetics. Gundams don't make any sense to me (see attached pic). If I'm designing mecha, am I going to waste time, materials, manpower, money, etc. making every other facet pointlessly pointy? No. There's nothing elegant about a Gundam's design, and that's their fatal flaw for me.- 17100 replies

I'm an OG G1 die-hard...but I feel like it's time to move on and establish a newer, richer cast of multi-faceted characters and an internally-consistent universe. And for the love of God, make it a universe that doesn't revolve around kids! I give every TF series an honest chance, but I keep returning to G1 simply because none of the follow-up series released thus far has captured my imagination in any compelling or lasting way.- 17100 replies

I forgot about this one. I love that "The original battle machines!" is/was trademarked. I suppose this is a good example of "everything old is new again."

"Please, Sir. I want some more." I really like its stripped-down design, even if it looks just a bit stumpy in these pix.
