1/80 Code 3 Collectible Diecast Millenium Falcon
GobotFool replied to Yamato Lover's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
awsome, simply awsome. If they do an X-wing I am so there. -
Why did they stop selling spare parts? Greed? People abusing the service to get parts for custom jobs? Both?

One of these days I really should pick up a macross joke machine, I had a chance to handle one and it was fun.
-
the plastic is pretty flexible as long as your don't yank or twist it hard you should be fine.
-
Don't forget that yamato made the limited cannon fodder (That kinda an oxymoron) TRU version and later made us a mass produced cannon fodder (Now thats a better title for our beloved brownies)

Glad to hear that they are not languishing. As some legit sources claimed this, and the claims are probably true. But as said earlier all you have to do is walk into a wal mart and you'll see plenty of TF'ers langushiing on the toyshelves As well as plenty Yu Gi Oh, Pokemon, and what ever is hot, as these places make an effort never to have empty shelves. But as for macross doing poorly, well heres the real clinchers that is undeniably true. They have as of this moment produced 3 normal macross plus valks, 2 macross plus valks with FPs, what is the count now 10 1/60th VF-1 varients, FP's that were soldout in many places before they hit the shelves as a result of massive preorder, 5 1/48 varients, with 1 more, the 1J, on the way, and probably M&Ms down the pike. Also with a habit of releasing one new product ever month or two. Yamato seems to be doing rather well IMHO. They are still making them, and stores are still carrying them (If people are not buying then why do the retailers keep buying, are all retailers macross fans who refuse to admit no one wants the toys and just keep buying them and letting them languish on the shelves out of sheer stuborness and neglect of any business sense? I find that unlikely.) I make no claim to fully understand the busness dynamics between manufacturer, retailer and customer, so make what you will of my observations. As I said earlier I do feel Yamato needs to expand its product line beyond the VF-1, and from what I have seen they are making the effort to. for next year we are getting non VF-1 mecha for macross. This month the escaflowne comes out. and further down we are going to get big O and Votoms, and that still mysterious transforming mecha series. (Come on Graham just a little hint?).

I beleive that is an invid command battloid (sorry don't know the proper mospeada name for it.). Check it out on Jeff russells mecha charts http://www.merzo.net/robotech/mechasizes.htm

Right now Yamato's greatest weakness is its lack of variety. Popular to begin with, but the general sentiment is the same once you have one VF-1 toy you almost have them all. Even I who love the VF-1 am a little tired of it. I want Enemy mecha, destroids, improved macross plus valks, and macross zero, and macross 7. and of course the SDF-1. So I can understand peoples concerns about Yamato's milking of the VF-1 line also being the death of them, about them going under before things other than VF-1 varients are produced. Yamato is making an effort to expand by picking up escaflowne, votoms, and big O. How successful these lines will be has yet to be determined. There is also that mysterious transforming line that is supposed to be in the works. I think they could survive if they pick up enough neglected toy lines where ravanous fans who have been neglected will snatch up whatever they can get. That seems the be the niche Yamato is pursueing. On the other hand this aproach could be the death of them if they take on series that have no real fan base. I don't know, is there a VotomsWorld out there? with tons of ravanous fans fighting each other to get the few existing vintage toys? probably not, I have seen no evidence. Yamato if it wants to survive is going to have to pick their franchises carefully.

Twin moons sells them for about that 137, where did you see it for 130?

Second season of GitS: Stand Alone Complex!
GobotFool replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just download it, for your own sake. where can I DL these? -
yeah I got painfully reminded of this when I posted recently, said somethings I wish I had the time to remove, but it was too late.

actually it was all fixed in the max. In terms of the quality rolar coaster ride for the 1/48 The 1A Hikaru had some design flaws, but QC wasn't awful The 1S Roy had the same design flaws + major QC problems (I sold this one and plan to use the cash towards the new improved 1S, my Hikaru 1A I am fine with so I find no need to really upgrade.) The Max and Low viz fixed the Design flaws and also have had decent QC reports

owning a Hikaru 1S before everyone else? Priceless Somethings money can't buy, for everything else there is YamatoCard. Accepted at toystores all over Japan (sorry Skull One, I could not resist saying that, no jab at you as I compleatly agree with you.)

Because Yamato doesn't make Robotech toys. Toynami probably feels rather confident in saying they've created the best Robotech toy ever. Because it is. It's jsut not the best Valkyrie ever, not by a long shot. Yeah, it is a vast improvement over the Matchbox robotech valk Didn't some one kitbash the old matchbox making it so it could transform? I'd like to see that.

Hubert, ever since the SOC Dancougar came out, Voltron fans wondered out loud how well Bandai could make a SOC Voltron. Truth of the matter is that it won't happen because World Events Productions flat out bought the rights to GoLion from Toei, and is the sole licenser of it. They gave the toy rights to Toynami. The rights to Dairugger XV however expired sometime in the 90's due to lack of interest from the fans and WEP, so Toei does have it. But DXV, and GL is only remembered by people in the west, so a SOC DXV will never happen. I personally would LOVE to see Bandai work its magic once more (The Dancougar is beautiful, but super expensive for a new toy at $250USD+), but I can only pray for the best as Toynami is designing their "Masterpiece" Voltron. if it turns out bad arn't there some nice diecast boots being produced? I thought I heard it mentioned cept for the box its almost identicle to the original.

I really should pick up a NO 7, keeping one in car mode and the other in bot would probably reduce the temptation to fiddle with my current one just a litte

Ahhhh the day emotions stop running hot over yamato Valks on MW is the day hell freezes over, or when yamato stops making them. Anyway, sure the Hikaru 1S is just another VF-1. But your not being forced to buy. Why begrudge other people who want this product? Yamato makes more money, they get the resources to engineer and produce better larger scale macross plus, Macross Zero, (pray for macross 7) valks. They also get the money to make destroids, enemy mecha, and not just that, they are also giving us escaflowne toys, votoms, Big O, and that mysterious transforming toy line that they refuse to tell us anything more about (oh Graham, yamato you are such evil teases) all being produced with the money made from rabid macross/valk fans. (hey thats me! and most of us That said I am skipping the Hikaru 1S myself as I already have one Hikaru valk. Just one head varient apiece for me please (with the low viz and perhaps a milla 1J to go with my Max 1J as an exception). And just one character. So my 1/48 line up would probably be, a focker 1S, a Hikaru 1A, and a Max 1J, and the low viz. I may be tempted by a milla, that all depends if they release them togeather or seperatly. Also look at it this way friends. Yamato has stopped selling us spare parts. So if one wanted a 1S head for there max or Hikaru they would have to buy two extra 1S Roys just for the heads, or you would have to buy some recasts. the recasts are all fine and good for those who like to model but for the rest of us who are lazy people and only build our molded in color snap models they are not that much of an option

The big Masamune Shirow appreciation thread
GobotFool replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh techno babble, never has there been such an empty and meaningless language -
Only way I can see it being any better is to imrove the posibility of the legs and waist. other than that the old one is fine. Hopefully the toynami will be nice, but I really don't hold my breath on that.

I think I 1st saw starwars when I was 2 years old. I had no idea what was going on but I was captivated by these movies. My parents tried to foist winnie the pooh, and all this disney stuff on me, but I would demand Star Wars. So I guess it would be honest to say I was fed SW from the cradle and it has been a big part of my life since. I really hope that Lucas Listens to the fans and offers in the DVD set an option to watch it in its original format and as SE. Or he takes a hint redoes SE correctly (I can hope can't I?) and makes SW even better than the original format. SE for everything one good thing it added, it added 1 bad thing, and also took away one good thing. SE could have been great if he didn't mess with the content. Why fix what was not broken? If he really felt the need to add to SW he should have just fixed the occassionally spotty FX like the Vasoline cloud underneath the Landspeeder.

Some dude named Kawamori made it up. can i get a second on this? Yeah that image was taken from a book of his line art.

have you seen the Mcfarlane line for the wizard of Oz? it features dorthy in a bongage outfit being worked over my some munchkins......disturbing stuff..... Yes I have seen those. Utterly disturbed. Though I have yet to see the tin woodsman. Whats he look like? here ya go... Hehe that TWM is kinda cool.
-
are they going to release these lions all seperatly for 80 a pop? That comes to 400 dollars I'd rather pay that much for the old gokin than the new toynami.
