You left out transformers. In many ways I found this movie about how we face chaos and uncertainty. Hud's response "it's a terrible thing" sums up the nature of the beast rather nicely. It really doesn't matter if it was a scientific experiment gone wrong or the result of an environmental disaster. It's about how people face disaster. Our heros, despite being faced with overwealming odds choose to plung back into the chaos to save a friend while we watch most other people run the other direction. The movie lacks exposition and that was a good thing. I hate dialogue that pretty much in a nut shell is... "Look at me, I'm good, and noble, and moral." This is a movie where the characters actions speak alot louder than their words. I don't think it was a particularly complicated movie, but I don't think it was as empty headed as some people say it was.

Hud was Rob's best friend. Beth, Rob, Hud, and damn, I forget the black girls name... they all seemed pretty tight. The only one who made no sense to me was Marian? Did she say she was only there because she was a friend of Beth? Or was she a friend of Rob's brother's fiancee?

The apartment struck me as kind of large, but other than that I agree it did not seem like a very upscale place to live. I agree about them being dressed up for the party, I was just commenting that I have no idea what would someone the impression that they were all rich other than the fact that they dressed up for a party. A lot of people, who are not wealthy, have one or two dressier outfits for special occasions. All things considered Rob struck me as a fairly normal guy who was on his way up in the world. I've heard a few critics call him a fool for trying to rescue Beth. If you were in that situation, and the person you loved was possibly still alive but hurt, could you just walk away? I found the lack of technobabble very refreshing. To many movies need to explain that the monster was created because of the evil gov't noodling in gods domain, or some evil corporation spilled toxic waste in the ocean. Here the monster just was, it was a big unexplained scary stompy thing, and I imagine the 1st night of any monster attack thats about all anyone would actually know.

Happy early birthday. I actually in about 2 weeks turn 26 myself.

Ummm, in the movie its actually referenced that Rob is the vice president of a company. I have no idea what any of the the other characters did for a living but I really don't see where you got the impression that these people were parasites other than the fact that they were well dressed. And Hud dropped the camera on plenty of ocassions. You often see him running back to grab the camera. I guess if you had to slap him around for anything it would be for being an idiot and running back in the middle of a monster attack to grab a dumb camera.

Well, if a sequel gets green lit, and it does well, I just know a third one will be made because of Hollywood’s obsession with trilogies. Still done right sequels could work. My main complaint was that I got no real feel for the monster, other than it was big and scary, which was fine for a movie about the average Joe’s perspective. I like the idea of a sequel being about another group of people trying to survive the same event. In some ways I’d like to see it from a TV camera crew’s perspective. I don’t know if TV news studios actually use steadicam mounts, but I’d like to see the person filming the sequel be someone operating a camera with one. Could be a TV show studio caught in the middle of events ect. That or a more military perspective from footage from helmet mounted cameras. While the image would still be shaky it would offer the advantage of being able to show events from multiple perspectives. Just my two cents.

Just because the events lasted a whole night doesn't mean it was on the whole night. He captured 1 1/2 hours of film over the course of a single night.

I'd like some kind of customer loyality plan. of course, living in the US we'd never benefit anyway.

Ummm... Okay. Bye.

Also we have to remember, when the Macross 7 toys were made, I don't believe toys were being marketed to adult collectors. (I could be wrong, but I don't really recall any toys that were collectible before being toys during the 80s). Oh sure toy collectors existed, but for a long time toys were just that, toys for kids that maybe an adult might find amusing as well. With things like the SOC line we see that Bandai is interested in toys aimed at adults. Even the Aqurion, while I suppose designed to be a toy, was a decently engineered item. I don't own one, but I trust what a lot of people have said about it. Most complaints I hear regarding the Aquarion are less about its faithfulness to the actual design seen on the show, but are complaints about the design itself.
-
I know alot of people have their doubts regarding Bandai's ability to make decent figures for MF mostly because of their rather poor efforts regarding the Macross 7 toyline, but they have come a long way since then. Just look at the marvels they've produced for the SOC line and even the Aquarion. Its true, there is a chance that because they always feel the world needs a new gundam, in a new weird scale, with a new weird paintjob that macross might get the shaft, but until I see pictures of MF toys that make the M7 toys look like yamatos, I'm hopeful.

From what I can see from the pictures it looks like most of the chrome is just on the truck parts. Are the robot parts going to be just dull grey plastic on the takara version? I was really hoping for chromed leg and arm parts despite the fact that the chrome would probably wear off if I transformed it alot, but hey thats what me cheaper takara version is for.

Kinda reminds me of red vs blue.

revoltech is the best thing to happen to the toy collector on a budget. It would be awesome if they expanded into movie lines. I'd kill for a SW revoltech line. Considering they are doing transformers, a hasbro owned property, I don't find the idea of SW revoltech to insane
-
Its almost like two different teams were given the task of designing the legioss and the tread, and halfway through they realized they were supposed to link together. How else can you explain the stupidity that is how the arm fins stick out?

It looks like classics prime also has chrome.

I gotta warn people about megahouse, I've heard there was a big difference in what the promo photos showed and reality for the L-Gaim Heavy Metal Figures they released a while back. I believe every shot we've seen of megahouses stuff has come straight from their promotional adds. I want to see some real shots of the actual product before I commit to anything by megahouse.

Has there been any news on the takara release of the MP Screamer?

Well, I own the patlabors figures that CMS released and the plastic is decent. I think what's bothering people with the CMS ride armor is, that like the patlabor figures, they are going for a "lets make it look like a toy from the 80s, with the shiny plastic and bare diecast parts, but with modern engineering" look. I also prefer the proportions of the rider figure in the CMS set. it doesn't make Stick or Rand look like body builders. And when they get around to making a Yellow and Houquet I definitely don't want them looking like body builders. I hear megahouse requires some part swapping for the transformation. Generally I'm a PT nazi, so I'll accept sacrificed appearance for PT any day. While I have heard the orguss toys from megahouse were pretty good. Though i've heard spotty thing about their L-gaim releases. So before I even consider a megahouse I want to read a review.

I think part of the big deal some people might have with the non existent red tread, (though for a lot of us its moot point because we're not going to buy the set considering how ugly it turned out) is that your pretty much being forced to buy a non-cannon toy, to get a cannon one. If these were all being sold separately then you could happily ignore the red tread.

As some people have mentioned, the masterpiece can't compete with a yamato 1/48. It has working flaps, airbrakes, an opening cockpit, removable covers for the air intakes, a heatshield that tucks away, hidden swing bars, fast packs with an insane amount of internal detail. The list goes on. If you want a display piece definitely go for the 1/48. You can even play with it as long as your not too rough, as contrary to what a lot of people thing, it really is not that fragile. Just watch out for that backpack hinge. If your looking for something that's more of a toy, go for a 1/55. It's build like a brick and it still looks pretty good for a 25 year old design. It is also really fun to play with. When I get the urge to play with a transforming toy I reach for my 1/55 reissue before my 1/48s. 25 years the 1/55 is still one of my favorite toys.

As a person who imports the ocassional Japanese transformer, I've notice that the mark up is on average 2x. I don't do it often as the difference in quality between the US releases and Japanese releases is usually very small. But if you want say, a gun version of megatron in non-nerf gun colors, you have to pay 41 dollars for a toy that sold for 20 dollars in the US. Compared to some SOC's I've owned, though I don't own that many, the 60 doesn't seem that insane for this ride armor. I think I payed about 60 for my xambungle and he is a teeny guy, probably not much larger than CMS's ride armor. I'm not trying to defend the high prices, I just don't find them that unusual for a imported Japanese robot toy. Isn't the Legioss supposed to be the same size as the Toynami alpha? If this toy actually looked good, 80 for the alpha and 120 for the tread would not strike me as odd. Of course as things stand its more like 120 for the alpha and 180 for the tread. If the set was 200 and it didn't have any of the major flaws that everyone has discussed to death, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The ride armor are around 60, 55 from a few places.

Fine Molds/Kotobukiya 1/35 x-wing
GobotFool replied to GobotFool's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, this is a colaboration with Kotobukiya. Its going to be all prepainted. I love the fact that has full internal detail. This is like a perfect grade, but for star wars. And pre-painted. -
