Yeah I seem to have a knack for picking up stuff with QC issues more often than I'd like. Being a latecomer in Macross Delta scene, I am currently eyeballing on 31C Mirage. I understand there's hefty premium due to demand, scarcity, etc along with J Kai and S. Just wondering for those who have one, are you happy with it and what do you like about it the most?

Like a kid unwrapping gift on Christmas morning, I was ecstatic getting my first vf-31f Messer yesterday...BOO! blemishes on Messer's grim reaper logo.. Is this the norm or am I really lucky?!

Use some grippy tape on the canopy and gently lift it up. Works every time when there’s no slack for fingernail and you don’t want to mess up the edges using blunt tools. May I suggest Gorilla brand? 😉

Great to hear from a fellow Canadian member! To share my DX VF-1S Hikaru purchases from Mandarake, ask them to ship in their ‘shou’ size box which is 4,330 yen. Sometimes they will show 8,210 yen for shipping but it is their ‘dai’ box and it is way too big for your standard box size dx vf-1, which Hikaru 1S is. One time I caught it and had to get shipping quote corrected by their staff. Then DHL will tear your wallet a new one at the door. The mandatory $20 processing fee + duties(13% CAD equivalent) comes to $50-60 fun fun!

So I’ve been playing with my new 31J reissue, transforming a few times to get myself acquainted as this is my first 31 toy. So far I am happy with, but there is so much paint on this bird that the more I handle it, the more roughed up paint edges I find..it seems inevitable regardless of how careful you are.

My guess is it's just a drawer + hinge type of design solely for aesthetic purposes. This way the fold pieces retract sitting flush to the chest until you decide to transform. Otherwise there'd be ugly hinges visible on top of the chest.

Yup mistakes happen (which is inevitable) and they do touch up any imperfections after the fact. My copy of 1D has a rather nice thicc smear of orange touch up on top of what looks like a tiny hair. I just hope it didn't come from there.

Sorry dude, that's bad. That'd be a package heavily damaged on Mandarake..but then you've just purchased supposedly a brand-new one from a retailer, not a second hand market. That is not a great buying experience. I have a preorder with LP and they need to get it together rather than take advantage of our passion.

Can you not apply some silicon lubricant to make the panels slide a little easier? - I am afraid I might have to deal with it when I do get a Mirage...

Nothing's broken and that is normal. In fact some crazy people swap the cockpits going from TV to DYRL vice versa.

Ouch sorry to hear that. That grey piece should be ABS so you might want to use any good CA glue or even try Tamiya ABS cement if you got one lying around.
