  1. Now that this is showing on HBO (or is it Showtime...?), I finally got around to watching it. After seeing AVP, I was fearing the worst and my expectations were incredibly low. That being said, this movie exceeded my expectations in a few ways. So, if anyone is still talking about this franchise, I'd enjoy hearing what you think about some of the points in this movie. - I can't believe they'd use the motion tracker sound effect at the title screen of the movie. That's not even remotely right to tease me with that. - I think this movie did a fairly nice job introducing some new Predator lore. I thought the concept of the "cleaner" was somewhat plausible, but it did seem a little odd to me that only 1 would be sent. I thought it was interesting that the Wolf would stop to pray over one of the fallen Predators in the crashed ship. The "blue goo" seemed a little too useful, but if the Predators have been hunting Aliens for long enough, they've surely learned a few tricks from them and have put them to good use. Setting up the laser grid in the sewer to lock the Aliens in was quite clever. - The Wolf Predator was hands down the baddest one in any of the movies thus far. Every time he did something, I couldn't wait to see just how authoritatively he would do it. Using two casters just made me smile. - Exactly how many rounds of 5.56mm would you need to put into an Alien to kill it? It just doesn't seem like it'd be an effective weapon at all, which is why I couldn't help but laugh when the Army woman must have fired about a smabillion rounds without changing magazines. - If Aliens take on the characteristics of their host and the Predalien could create more Aliens by facesucking a pregnant woman, Predators must have some... nasty... mating processes. I'm not sure what to infer from this, but it's potentially more curious Predator lore. - So what exactly happens to the survivors at the end of the movie? And how about the Special Forces group who picked them up? Surely they can't all be expected to be sworn to secrecy forever. - It really irritated me that some of the scenes and lines were directly out of previous movies. I cringed on a few occasions. - Mathematically, how do so many Aliens wind up running around the town before the hospital is taken? How many facehuggers were on the Predator ship, anyway? I thought there were 5 Aliens total before the hospital. - National Guard, WTF? I know we're not talking about Green Berets here, but there were only, what, a dozen of them? Not that I've ever seen an emergency NG mobilization here where I live, but I feel like a dozen with an armored vehicle is a pretty small reaction force. Ah, well. Maybe I'll watch it again just for fun. I can't force myself to see AVP again, but Requiem was good based solely on The Wolf. By the way, does anyone have any of the Hot Toys Aliens Snap Kits? I've seen these on eBay recently, and was wondering how articulated they are. They look to be about the scale of GI Joes.
  2. Wait, what...?! I could buy that. Where can I find pics?
  3. My doggies and I are hoping that your doggie recovers. Mine have also had some health problems as of late, so I can understand that you could use some support. Hang in there, and hope for the best.
  4. God, I hope you're right. I have been SO badly wanting that Beagle ever since I saw the first pictures. However, I just can't bring myself to dole out $200 for it. I don't care if it's branded Robotech or not, I'll get it if it's the same product.
  5. Anyone have an idea when Toynami will be releasing the Beagle Ridearmor/Cyclone here in the USA?
  6. I hope and pray that this line will see a new VF-17. For as much as I love my Macross 7 VF-17D, there's no denying its super chunky flaws. I will be anxiously awaiting more news on this topic.
  7. I've been out of the loop on this topic for a while. Is the Beagle mold also being released by Toynami? If so, I will definitely wait until they appear stateside.
  8. If anyone still has the black mask Destro, I'd really love to negotiate for it. Please let me know? Comic pack wave 5 hasn't even hit my area yet.
  9. Same here. My nearest Wal-Mart is doing a reset. I suspect that they'll be largely finished with it before the 26th, when all of the new Star Wars merchandise is supposed to be on the shelves. My nearest Target has already broken street date on that stuff.
  10. Actually, I did too. It's the closest I've ever come to playing an honest-to-God Macross game.
  11. Still have 5 CG's on the pegs at a nearby Wally World. They are just absolutely overrun with wave 6. Someone over-ordered in a huge way. I'm looking for Flash, all of comic pack wave 4, and all of the newest vehicles (particularly the VAMP).
  12. Whatever the case is, I am becoming completely infuriated with the distribution of Joes here in Raleigh, NC. It seems as if all of the stores in my area (and there are a surprising number of them) get one case, and that's it. Once it's gone, you have to wait for God knows how long before you see any more. I saw Flash a grand total of ONCE. I can also say the same about the HISS Driver. I still have yet to see Major Bludd, Tiger Flint, or Python Officer at all, and I've been hunting pretty consistently for them. The price of gas is seriously starting to hamper my hunts, though, especially since I'm driving a muscle car. I just don't know if I can attribute the lack of figures in my area to scalpers or super retarded distribution. I kinda lean towards the latter, as some Star Wars things are also quite difficult to find around here. The problem with ordering more of a wave can backfire, though, when the people placing the orders don't know what's going to be in demand and when. For instance, there's a Wal-Mart near me which has wave 6 revisions clogging up the pegs. More Torpedos, Rock 'n Rolls, Armored Cobra Commanders, Iron Grenadier Destros, and Crimson Guards than you can shake a stick at. If anybody out there needs some and would trade for any of the ones I listed above, I'd be more than willing.
  13. Actually, I did think about it but took it off of the list. Either version doesn't currently seem to be significantly worth more than the other.
  14. Here in NC, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes peg warmed for weeks on end back when they first came out. Now competition for virtually anything has become so fierce that it's just taking the fun out of it. Some of the variants which I know about: Snake Eyes with the black wolf is substantially harder to find than the gray wolf. The black wolf version is averaging $100 on eBay nowadays. Some of the single carded Gung-Ho figures from wave 4 are straight repacks from the 5-pack set. As such, they have an anchor (Navy) on the hat. Since Gung-Ho is a Marine, fans did not like this at all. Hasbro corrected this by simply removing the anchor from the mold. These are also making it over the $100 mark now. The Holy Grail of variants thus far has to be yellow Stalker. This was apparently an early-run factory paint error in which his uniform's green camouflage was substituted with a bright yellow. This was quickly corrected, and thus "banana Stalker" is considered an error and not a variant. These are routinely breaking a whopping $300 on eBay, and there's little sign of the price increase slowing down. Even loose ones are going for over $75.
  15. I don't suppose you saw Flash? If so, please let me know. I only once saw that one on the pegs and I'd like very much to get it.
  16. I may just take you up on that. I'm supposed to be trading for some this weekend, but I don't think I'm getting everything I need. I like to have 2 of each so that I can open one and keep the other carded.
  17. Are you kidding? These are PERFECT! Exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you tremendously for these!
  18. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are any plans to rerelease the YF-19 when the YF-21 is released? I missed the boat the first time around, and it'd be killer to get them both at the same time.
  19. I have a humble - and hopefully simple - request. Could someone please get wallpaper-sized screenshots of the "commercial break" illustrations of Alto and Ozma? The one of Alto is in episode 4, at 11:29 (in the Shinsen version). The one of Ozma is in episode 5, at 11:56. Thank you!
  20. If they pull a Gall Force on us, I'm going to be severely disappointed.
  21. The AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) is a 6-legged walker which first appeared in Attack of the Clones. http://www.starwars.com/databank/vehicle/atte/
  22. OK, aside from Gung-Ho, I don't know why that never crossed my mind before. Other GI Joes in their dress uniforms would be absolutely awesome.
  23. Yes, the Droids A-Wing did have a battery compartment. It had a press button to make "laser" sounds. Mine actually still works, against all odds. Since the Droids A-Wing is the only one I've ever owned, I'm looking very forward to getting the new one with Arvel. I think it looks really nice.
  24. My Dagobah X-Wing indeed suffers from droopy wings. My solution - which isn't a very good one - is to simply pull the wings and flip them over every month or so. I've considered putting very thin metal braces into each wingroot, but it's not high on my priority list.
  25. Thank God for Shinsen. I am so sick of messing with screwy codecs and players for these other versions.
