YESSS! Thanks Knight26. Proper seat padding and harnesses next.

Happy Friday! Just when you think you're almost done, then realize that you are not even close. Martin & Baker Mk.9 Ejector Seat is getting there. Took me a while to understand how the catapult works (anodized cylinder in back). Looked up M&B patents to figure it out. And of course the Data plates! Because who doesn't need more data? I need to add a few more and some Hazard Warnings as well. As usual, NO bitmaps. All textures procedural. 3DS Max, Fstorm Render. That's it for now.

A little more refinement. Going to leave this here while I take a break. I think final detailing is next, and then final materials/shading.

Yer darn tootin'! If you build it, they will come.

Thank you Skullsixx and rick.vale! Here is some more detailing (that no one will probably ever notice) on the mirrors and brackets. Ironic that I spent so much time removing part lines and seams from physical models; now all I do is add part lines and seams to digital models.

Things are about to get 'real'. Well, virtually anyway. For anyone with VR goggles. Upload your content here! I'll go first. This one works really well with the Oculus Quest 2.

"Dry fitting" the throttle, stick, instrument panel and shroud. I am so glad I rebuilt the IP shroud - the new one looks so much better than the old one at the start of this post. Now I can keep moving forward instead of going back and fixing annoying stuff. Yeah, this project is definitely about low and slow. It looks and fits much better because I spent more time getting the overall shape right and more time spent on cleaner (organized) edge loops.

Some more detailing and refinement on the IP shroud. You can see my inspiration image in one of the renderings. 😃 A little more 'mil spec' type styling on the iPhone...er I mean mirrors. I think you all know what I'm going to do to that rectangle on the back of the mirror. I've got a great idea on the mirror bracket design - will look so legit if I can pull it off. Happy Friday!

Thank you sir! Great to hear from you. I blocked in the cockpit massing in an attempt to force myself to do the seat.

Wow, where does 2 years go? Trying hard to get back into the pilot's seat on this Block 6 1:1 project. Some minor work on switches, annunciator lights, cockpit blocking and mirror details. Trying to interpret the brackets for some micro detailing. Also reworked the shroud geometry - will be re-detailing it soon. C&C welcomed!

Happy New Year, and thanks Bolt!

Thanks! Sorry, it was a dirty trick to bump this thread, but desperate times call for desperate measures. LOL!

Whew! You had me worried for a sec... Happy New Year Knight26!

Wow! Zero reactions on the animation test. I know it’s only a WIP, but I didn’t think it was THAT bad...lol!

Look what my cousin found - some of my grade 6/7 flipbooks! As per forum guidelines, these are only posted as they relate to macross. I love both because they are 2 sides of the same coin. I will properly frame by frame later, but for now, merry christmas! Best, Olitech Industries IMG_2404.MOV IMG_2403.MOV

Ok starting to remove the chunkiness and sculpt the curves. Refining the turbine engines with battroid in mind. Going with a rounder leg like the drawings instead of the typical squared look like the models. Continually tweaking the base cage to get the right edge flow.
-
Maybe a little. These are just blocked in for now. I did trace them from the Kawamori drawing to get the proportions, but will start referring to the blueprints for the next passes. Second pass will refine them and shape them out. I know they slightly taper in at the front, bulge back out around the shoulder centerline, then taper back down hard as they get to the bottom of the knee. I always loved that curve! Pengbuzz, regarding the legs, currently I have them as symmetrical down the middle. In reality, I will have to flatten the inside 'calf' to facilitate the arms in the proportions we are looking for. Look at the current front view. Once I flatten the inside leg, there should be a lot of room for thick arms.

Back to the hangar. Upon closer inspection, the leg contours still look a little square. Nose cone needs some refinement. But overall a much better model compared to V1 - In the previous version, I got caught down that 3D-detail rabbit hole. Ok. Arms today.

Spending time on the topology to ensure perfect surfaces. This model will have "perfect" dna for digital or physical uses. =)

Fake poses to see how the styling looks in the different modes. Also pre-thinking the rig. Need to add a LOT of 'wiggle room', but it is doable. Gerwalk VTOL Looking a lot like Bambi right now. That's a good thing! This shape feels really good.

Topo looks really clean! Great work. Let's animate this thing. =)
