I finally broke down and ordered the Strike Parts set, due to come in Dec 2019 (first batch). Cost me more than I think it is worth, but I'm starting to realize that's how things go in this Bandai/Macross market if you don't get in on the actual pre-order mayhem. If I don't end up with a VF-1S, at least I can use it on my Max. I wish I'd found out about the new VF-1 line sooner as I would have grabbed a VF-1J as well - but I'm not buying one now at ~$400-$450 CAD, before shipping. Ugh. I'm really torn whether to wait until near the VF-1S release date and see if I can snag one at near PO pricing or just bite the bullet and grab a resale PO at a $100 markup.

When is the first wave of VF-1 Strike Parts supposed to ship? Is it December? I know the 2nd shipment is April 2020.

What about the Super Parts set ... will that be re-released at some point? I was thinking of grabbing one from someone that got in on the first wave and is delivering in Dec. It's just hard to justify $150 CAD. I'm still torn on whether to snag a resale PO or wait until November and desperately try and grab one from HS or Anime Export - though I suspect the AE price will probably be the same or higher than the resale POs that are listed now. Decisions, decisions!

So the missile set arrived at FROMJAPAN’s warehouse - thankfully I was worried for nothing. ;). The only problem now is I got a payment error while paying for shipping yet the charge is showing as authorized on my card. Hmm. There was no option to pay for shipping with a PayPal account. Thankfully FJ has been responsive to emails, so I’m sure they will take care of it.

Hmm, so I think there might be something odd going on with that VF-1 missile set order that I placed through FromJapan. I "won" the bid (via Buy Now) and the item was confirmed as having been sold. I logged in to look at some other stuff and noticed the seller has seemingly re-posted what looks to be the exact same missile set, judging by the same pics/description, but with only a 4hr window on the auction. In the rough translation of the description, it mentioned something about being able to arbitrarily cancel orders (though I haven't received notification from FromJapan). I was thinking of doing the same thing. I’m tempted to secure a pre-order resale from an auction site and then try to snag one from AE, etc. If I end up with two, I’m going to sell it to someone in North America for whatever I paid + shipping.

^ He must be trustworthy as he has the same name as you! (XXXXXX) :P In all seriousness though, that is a killer deal. Hopefully, it works out. All the other listings on eBay that I'm seeing are in the $500-650+ range, which is just ... stupid.

I broke down and ordered a VF-1 missile set from FromJapan, as Max looks a bit bare and I can use the extra missiles on a VF-1S (assuming that happens as planned haha). Also a good test to see how the FJ service works. I hate spending so much more (~$120 CAD) for something that should be much cheaper but whatever. I was tempted to crack out Fusion 360 and 3D print my own ... but don't really have the time for the next few months. Yes, I'm justifying my purchase to myself

Wow $200 usd including FREE standard international shipping? That seems too good to be true. Looks like he's sold 11 of them too...seems a bit sketchy...but if it pans out you certainly hit the jackpot.

Ugh, trying to decide whether to grab a VF-1S pre-order using a proxy service (e.g. FromJapan) or wait until around release date to see if HLJ or AE have some extras/PO left-overs come available. My only concern with the proxy service is they have to wait for the seller to ship to them, then shipping it to me...and what happens if something goes wrong with the seller, etc. Decisions... Has anyone grabbed a late PO resale from a proxy service before?

My nose cone is way tighter than what I saw in various VF-1J reviews...took more effort than I expected to unclip it. Cockpit is perfectly flush too. Stabilizers and fins seem fine as well, but didn’t realize those were an issue.

Thanks. So out of curiosity how reliable is FromJapan? I was looking at their site and noticed quite a few sellers, some with 40+ positive ratings are listing pre-orders for sale. I assume I could get one of those and then have FromJapan deliver it from their warehouse once they receive it. Is this safe way to go? I'm still new to this DX line craziness I'm thinking worst case, if I pre-order one that way and then see one on AE, etc I can always snag two.

So is it reasonable to assume that there will likely be some stock of VF-1S, for however briefly, on or just before release day? I know the VF-1A is nowhere near as in demand (i.e. I lucked out) but I have to hope that AJ or one of the various exporters would have some VF-1S extras (or resales at markup)... I figure I'm going to end up paying quite a bit more than I did for the VF-1A, but as long as I can get one (at reasonable mark up prices...none of this $500-600 nonsense), I'll be happy. I guess alternatively I could just get the VF-1J and call it a day...

It’s definitely a greyish white colour and darker than I expected too, which is a good thing.

Just received mine and it looks awesome! Don’t see any cracks or other oddities - haven’t checked the shoulder joints yet but will do that after my conf call. This is my first DX Chogokin and I’m really impressed by the weight of this thing. It was also my first time ordering direct from Japan and have no complaints...product was well packaged and arrived extremely quickly. I didn’t get charged duty either. Two thumbs up for anime-export. edit: I think the panel lines are fine as-is. I was of the same mindset initially that there wasn’t enough detail and that panel lining would be a way to bring out more depth, but...at least in person, the lines seem visible and fine as-is. edit 2: shoulder joints are normal.
