Interesting. I paid 26,500 JPY a couple of months ago to secure someone's pre-order. I'm hoping it will ship from the seller this coming week and so that I can get FJ to ship it the first week of December.
-
Where did you order from?
-
I did pay for the protection plan. The seller specifically mentioned having reserved his order whereas others made no mention, so we’ll see. Paid 26k JPY + fees which sucks but what can you do...PO nights are just hideously bad with little chance of me getting one
-
I’m hoping the preorder I got through FromJapan (via YahooJP) doesn’t fall through.
-
Bah, just ordered one set...for that price I couldn’t resist. Hopefully my VF-1S order doesn’t fall through so I’ll actually have a VF to put them on (already have a set for Max)
-
I would Photoshop the stand out first...
-
Surprisingly, no.
-
I paid $32 CAD for my missile set from FromJapan and $49 CAD for my Max from AnimeExport. Both shipments arrived in 2 business days. AmazonJP definitely has the cheapest shipping at 1600 JPY for DHL.
-
FromJapan uses EMS and I got my VF-1A delivered in 2 business days to Ontario, Canada. I was quite impressed.
-
Has there been any news as to when that 1A will be available for preorder? I’d like to try and not miss out on preorder pricing this time around haha.
-
While I would generally agree, $8 CAD (700jpy) is a small price to pay when spending $300-$400; if you’re spending even more, then it is silly not to pay it just for the peace of mind. That way you also don’t have to worry about your proxy service banning you when you do a charge back (which I agree is a bit ridiculous).
-
Maybe you can ask your CC company to only reverse part of the charge so that you still cover FromJapan’s fees. Obviously keep FromJapan in the loop. I certainly would not want to lose hundreds of dollars...
-
I think that is part of their Buyer Protection plan, which is offered on purchases from sellers with a sufficient number of positive ratings.
-
Yep. I hope I chose a good seller - I made sure to choose one that said they had already a "paid reservation" and "would ship immediately upon receiving". Still nervous, but that's why I'm hoping I'll be able to snag one on AE or HLJ...definitely going to be harder than getting Max.
-
I paid with my CC so I’m not too worried.
-
I pre-ordered a VF-1S (with markup of course) through FromJapan. We’ll see if that comes through and I’ll still try and snag another one if I can.

Yeah I was 9 when Robotech came out on TV in Canada. I was obsessed with that show and got into the Palladium Robotech RPG, IMAI model kits (iirc), Macross related art/toys, etc. My dad was awesome with stuff like that. With my daughter now the same age I was when I first got into these cartoons/toys, it’s been a blast rediscovering all of this. Macross has aged surprisingly well.

haha.

I think I've started down the rabbit hole... started with Max, then a missile set, then a super parts pre-order & vf-1s to go with that...and just received my HMR VF-1D with a VF-1J Super Valk Max ver on the way for my daughter. I've got to stop lol...
-
Coming from a Games Workshop world, a price like that wouldn't phase me one bit LOL. I feel the same way! The extra hands remind me too much of:
-
Include some missiles...?
-
I'm looking for one at a reasonable price too...haven't found any place that is selling them for under $400 CAD. I would love to know where you got yours.
-
We were referring to the VF-1J.
-
I'd like to know that too. Most of the ones I've seen are 32-40K jpy.
-
Now that I think about it, I guess I'm the same but with board games and miniatures...my collection of Legion, 40K, Bolt Action, Flames of War, etc that I have left to paint is ridiculous; not to mention all the cool board games I bought to play with my wife and daughter, many of which haven't been opened. Sort of went crazy the past couple of years when I rediscovered the hobby. We only had Risk, Monopoly, and the occasional cool game like HeroQuest/Space Hulk and Car Wars when I was growing up, so the explosion of cool board games over the past little while has been hard to resist. I hear it is a common thing for software developers to want to build something concrete...so that's my excuse. Now I've got a LOT to build and paint and sometimes it feels overwhelming haha. I'm trying not to go nuts with these Macross toys...you guys don't make it easy with all your pictures.
