Bummer! I bet the hunt was fun though (albeit frustrating if you didn't score). WB

This. It's the same reason I collect now. I was lucky that I did have a G1 Jetfire. It was my only "expensive" toy of the early 80's toys. And that nostalgia brought me to some of the Transformers and all of the Macross & Robotech I collect. I know it's not the same for everyone, but I love the 1/48 DX's because they remind me so much of an evolution of 1/55 Chunkies. (I own and love Chunky Monkeys too of course.)

Uh... it would seem that @tekering would think otherwise. I think he crushed that pose.

I don’t seem to be banned yet. But wouldn’t shock me if I am at some point. Right now it’s really PayPal who is refunding me while they hunt done HS since they never responded.
-
So, Hobby Search never responded to PayPal. I’m being refunded 100% for my 1S. I have another one that is fine and being displayed in battroid, so I may just keep the defective one in fighter mode and just never transform it.

What was it?

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

Well... you could still get a many as you’d like... for a premium. Ha

I’d even add that the DX pays homage to chunky monkeys as well. Intended with it’s weight etc. Modernizing both the Yamato engineering and Takatoku materials/heft.

I will take Bandai DX over Yammarcadia any day. It's hard to argue with a 3-month old, I get it, but minus a few grails that Yammie put out, I love the tampo-riddled, meaty "Chunky Monkey" feel of the DX. No decals and chunky? Yes please.

Just shared my VF-1S love today. You gonna like and comment? Haha. I opened right away but took awhile to get on the display the way on want.
-
Yeah he just found it on AmiAmi and passed along the info to me. It's been going for about 12,000 Yen on Manda but I am always too late to it. This was the same price. I hate paying aftermarket but it was worth it here.

Anyone else?

Cannot wait to see that man!

Thanks! Yeah, I'll either keep it and have it stay in fighter mode, or sell it under MSRP if I receive a refund so that someone who is a modeler or with an engineering mindset can grab it and fix, etc. And as I was posting so were you. Great minds think alike. Will do bud. Thanks.

Since I know many of us have never landed on Hobby Search before, just following up on my experience thus far. As some may recall, I received a damaged 1S. Their invoice/receipt instructs to contact them for issues such as damaged goods within 7 days of receipt. I did that the day it arrived. I still haven't heard back from them after about a week. I reached out two other times during their business hours without reply. It doesn't shock me, but left with a Valk that I can't transform and the fact that no one ever lands there anyway, I decided to go nuclear rather than continue to let this drag past 7 days. I reported to PayPal. So, either they will kindly reply now and life will be good. Or, I will be refunded completely and blacklisted from there. I'm good with either outcome since it's generally impossible to buy DX Valks from them anyway. So, sharing so you all know that this is another shop that isn't too responsive/helpful in terms of customer service (at least as it involves damaged goods in my case).

Dude, I'm sorry to hear. I feel you. I'm sitting with a dud too and still no update from Hobby Search.
-
Nice! I have 4 Detolfs as well because they're so inexpensive. But that's the space I limit myself to for displaying. Outside of a few boxes in storage, everything is out.
-
Not to get off topic, but @borgified recommended I look at Craigslist sometime ago. Found a retail case for $25, got it painted for like $250 and spent like $35 on LED lights.
-
Totally. Hopefully, they resolve it. If they don't resolve it, wanna buy my defected one for MSRP? Haha. Beats buying at inflated prices and you can just keep him in fighter mode?
-
So, long story short, my order from Hobby Search wound up having a crack around degraded plastic. I've never purchased from them before (because they're impossible to usually land from). Anyway, they provided a receipt with the shipment that stated to email their support if there are any issues and even called out defects, etc. I did that over the weekend when it arrived so that there was no delay from when it was received and notifying them of the defect (the more time that lapses between receipt and notifying could be argued that I caused the crack). I followed up yesterday again during their business hours. No response yet. I'm not sweating it or even complaining about it on here. Just sharing the experience with HS so far as well as the QC issue for you all to watch for. Fortunately, I had acquired two other valks. One I sold to a board member from TFW2005 and one I kept. Unfortunately, this is the reason we collectors try to buy multiples (aside from displaying in different poses).

My wife called me out the other day saying that the majority of this is the Hunt. She’s right. I think @Slave IV calls it a game and I’m right there with him. I have a retail case and 4 Detolfs. That’s the space I have to work with plus a little extra storage space. And, I also enjoy selling stuff when there is clutter. But the trick is that I don’t have sell at any point. I only buy what I can afford. It’s funny the things we do to tame our addictive appetite.
