Yeah, I just rewatched that scene, and you're right. The canopy never came off. I posed it as if it was flying off because common sense told me there's no way in hell the canopy could stay attached at terminal velocity. Edit: There, that's better!

I just pressed the spring pin out with the blunt end of a 1/16" drill bit. Easily reversed.

Ooooooh boi! I got a giant toy of one of my favorite giant robots in the mail today. I hope they bring Pacific Rim back to theatres someday. It wasn't a great movie, but it's so awesome to watch on the big screen about 4 rows from the front! Even a big TV just doesn't do it justice. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of articulation. I also need to address some connection issues in the lighting. Looks awesome tho!

After several days, the parasites died, and their Zentradi hosts seemed fine. Then a few hours later, all hell broke loose in the medical bay. With the power out and no one responding on the comm, a crew of valkyries were sent in to investigate. They found some sort of casing as if something had gestated inside and clawed its way out. There also seemed to be some sort of slime slewn across the room and dripping from the ceiling in places. They finally got the lights back on and... ...found some new creatures relaxing and having fun with their pet! "Hey guys, could you turn the lights back off? It's hard on our eyes."

Well, this is a little disconcerting. Checked Ami Ami just now, and the VF-1D doesn't seem to exist. At first I just clicked on my pre-order link to the listing and it came up as "item not found." Then I did a search which also came up short. I hope this is simply a symptom of a change in status from pre-order to shipping.

The crew of the Megaroad colony ship just found a habitable yet inhospitable planet, and I think they may have found more than they bargained for after a crew of Zentradi explorers checked out an alien, derelict spaceship on the surface. Several of them returned with a strange parasite attached to their face. What could this mean?

Yeah, sorry for the diversion. The scale is totally wack. Zentradi soldiers sit comfortably inside regults, are generally only a little shorter than valks, and yet valks are somehow very similar in size to regults in most scenes making the cockpits way too small. Ground scenes also show the glaug being much bigger than the regults. Basically, I was just trying to convince myself I didn't need to spend the money on HMR enemy mechs because the scale was all wrong. I guess it just depends on whether you want to go with the scale of the soldiers or the scale of the mech because they seem to be completely different. Personally, I think I'll stick with 1/72 models for enemy mechs which are cheap... for the regults, not the glaug unfortunately. Not sure what I'll do for a glaug. Someday...

Picked up a 1/72 Regult kit cuz I can't afford an HMR and the 1/100 scale Regult seems all wrong to me, so I thought I'd see how well this one went with my HMRs.

Thanks very much @sh9000! I think I will be reviewing some episodes of Macross this evening. I feel like the overall scale is correct but the main bodies of the regult and especially the glaug look WAY too small by my eye. I should have a 1/72 regult kit in my mailbox today that I hope is a more accurate scale to the 1/100 line (or at the very least, a bigger/better model than my Revoltech).

Would someone be kind enough to post a pic of an HMR VF-1 in battroid, Glaug, and Regult together, preferably with the zentradi cockpits open? Every time I look at those, the mech seems to be a proper scale, but there's no way a zentradi soldier could fit inside at that scale. I know there's some animated artistic license at play here, but still.

Hmm, interesting. Oh, yeah, no trigger buttons, duh. Well, anyway, I'm glad they left the holes in the main cannon because it gives me a place to install an option part that I'd like to make; A GIANT FLAMING LASER BLAST! Possibly one that lights up if I can. I'm thinking of 3D printing it in yellow and white, but the typical printer plastics are rather opaque, so I'm not quite sure how to do lights yet. Even if it's unlit, it'll still be 'lit'.

One just came up in the for sale section for only $250. Shipping is $50 from Australia, but that's about the same total that I paid from Japan. I think there may be another for $280 iirc. Might be sold though.

A little old, a little new. Got a Dadelus attack going on with the barrier punch effect from my DX YF-19 and a background of Saturn on the TV.

I've had the best Friday. My Freyja and VFG finally showed up today, and my new SDF-1 came a couple of days ago. I did already open the SDF-1, but haven't played with it until today so I could take pics of it all and share it with you. The Freyja is to replace the G in VFG with the appropriate girl. Might not work, but I'm gonna try. The SDF-1 isn't in the nicest shape, but the stickers have never been applied, and nothing important is broken (the torpedos are missing, but I don't need those silly things, lol). It's a bit yellowed, but I think I might be able to fix that. I've seen some others doing awesome detail work on this toy which is what inspired me to get one.

I only just found out about the existence of this figure and want one badly. I was going to get the Chogokin version until I saw reviews that it was a pos and really small.

I highly doubt that an 18" NECA Gipsy Danger is 13lbs even with packaging. I'm thinking 2 or 3lbs at best.

After all the Mandarake love here, I registered and went to buy something for only 6000yen. It's in about a 19x8x6 box, and the shipping came up at a whopping 7300yen for EMS!!! Is that normal?

Yeah, I wouldn't want them to start doing HMR M+. Bring on the gd DX YF-21 already! I need to complete the pair and I don't want an old, used yammie version that I can't afford. I certainly don't want a little HMR... but I'd still buy it if they did. I saw people were getting invoiced for the VF-1D already, but has anyone gotten anything from Ami Ami? I'm a little worried since I let my last order lapse because Paypal credit doesn't work in different currencies and I didn't have the cash. So I'm hoping they don't write me off for the 1D po.
