  1. All of the red bits are painted over white plastic right, even the heat shield? So it wouldn't be all that difficult to simply paint over the few red bits with yellow right? Just some high quality oil based model paint should do it. Anyone wanna trade a DYRL pilot for a SDFM one that I can paint blue?
  2. I will be buying this, but I would rather have her original singing outfit or at least make the dress on this one less restrictive. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same plastic as before which, even in the short skirt, restricted articulation quite a bit (I'm considering cutting it off and replacing it with fabric). With the long red dress, you might as well make the legs solid.
  3. Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and good Black Friday deals. I got a few this year. My wife surprised me when we got to Best Buy whereupon SHE tried to convince ME to get a PS4pro, so I countered with a "might as well get VR too." Both were $100 cheaper. I was hoping to try VR when No Man's Sky supported it. I had no idea it already did. I also found a used Rahxephon action figure going for $100 less than usual. I loved this anime, but didn't wanna spend over $200 on the action figure. The model from Bandai is only $60, but this is so much better, mostly die cast, with clear plastic bits, an excellent figure. And the new Steven Universes movie was awesome, love the show, and the DVD was worth the $15 to see some behind the scenes footage (even if CN never releases their shows in proper sets! GRR!)
  4. When pre-order madness hits, is there usually any warning or announcement, or do we just have to keep a vigilant watch on this here thread and the stores? I've not yet participated in one of these events but am determined to get in on it if/when a Roy VF-1S gets released (regardless of DYRL/SDFM). I really wanted the first release of the VF-1J, but it's not as high on my list as Roy's 1S and is a bit out of my price range, so I only want to collect one of these beauties. But I'd rather not pay the $80+ markup after release, although the shipping is probably similar anyway, so...
  5. Yeah, I thought it was a Japanese popularity thing. But imho we've had enough DYRL VF-1S releases. ( yes I see your name there, plz don't hate ) I'd be happy if they simply included rounded hands and a blue suited Roy. They include rounded hands in their HMR releases (in all BUT the Roy?!!!), so why not here? Eh, whatevs, I digress and am happy they are putting out toys at all from a 40yr old show!
  6. True, but I would have thought they would have gone with a Roy release that would sell better before doing a second Hikaru. And I was referring to all large scale releases of Roy's VF-1S, not the DX line itself - sorry for not being clearer there. The only 1/60 or larger SDFM release that I have found so far is one of the the Yamato V2.2 releases. In smaller ones, there's the Kitzconcept and Toynami Robotech stuff (but we all know that doesn't count).
  7. Hah, yeah, same here. I'm surprised they haven't yet released what would probably be the hottest selling model. I haven't been particularly interested in collecting the 1/48 scale DX stuff, but I would sell my kidney for an SDFM Roy VF-1S. Why are nearly ALL releases of that DYRL?! And it looks like the next one will probably be DYRL too. Le sigh
  8. What was up with that engineer's eyes?! I always assumed they were bionic or something. Maybe he had tattooed eyeballs (yeah, that's a thing now) or modified eyes for better night vision for space work.
  9. I hope that Global or Claudia get made next, but it'll probably be Max then maybe Miria or Kakizaki. I'm really hoping for a Claudia someday though, and she had better come with some pineapple salad! Kakizaki should come with an extra large steak. And Global should have a pipe of course. Here's hoping they keep this going! They've got me hooked now.
  10. ...And to follow up, here's (mostly) the rest of my Alien collection posed around my bench at work:
  11. I'm not really interested in finding or posting in other toy forums, but my Macross love led to finding other toys I loved of course. I recently got a bunch of Alien toys to play with (and more on the way soon hopefully), and I usually like to mix it up with my Macross stuff. So, I thought I'd make a place here for posting pics of your non Macross stuff and/or for your crossover episodes. So if you're playing with your other toys, figures, etc and/or mixing it up, please take a pic and post it here! I'll start the thread off with this somewhat accidental pose. My NECA Aliens Queen figure wouldn't stay upright, so I dejectedly placed her like this and then thought it would make a great pose with the Toynami valks that I keep at work (that also don't like to stay put). Btw, if you're on the fence about buying this Alien Queen figure, don't waste your money unless you're a die hard fan and need to have this in your life. She is badly proportioned (well admittedly, she was in the movie too), doesn't like to stay standing (impossible without the stands), the stands suck, the joints are weak, some of mine broke almost immediately, the back spikes are impossible to get installed properly without glue, and other than looking awesome, she just sucks as a figure for the $120 she costs! But maybe I'm expecting too much.

    Macross figures

^^^Thanks all, and sorry for the repeat question. I don't have much time these days to peruse the site and mostly just stick to the threads I've already followed. Looks like they did scale them well and Roy looks like he's going to be taller than Hikaru according to a post in the other thread. Well, there's goes more of my money. Gonna have to get them all now.

    Macross figures

Ah great, thanks. Now I have to go back and buy the Hikaru figure because I have to have Roy, I already have Minmay, Misa is hopefully due out soon, and I might as well keep up with the collection at this point. I was originally hoping to only collect the female figures since they don't have valks per se, but... dat guitar tho! Hey, btw, does anyone have a picture of the Hikaru and Minmay figures? Did they at least make Hikaru slightly taller and scale each figure to their proper height? Because it sounded like they didn't from the height descriptions. They both say 15cm. If they're not going to scale them properly, I may skip the male figures after all.
  14. Is that the new dog alien? Where did you order from? I got a notice that they'd be in at BBTS soon but they haven't shipped yet afaik. Edit: nevermind, it's in my pile of loot now. I'm looking forward to this one even though I already have the previous version, but the head doesn't articulate as well as I'd like. It looks like this one is a bit better articulated. Also coming out this month (maybe) are the latest improvements to the Aliens warrior and both the 1/8 (or1/10?) and 1/4 scale Big Chap. Can't wait to get that big alien, although I wish they'd do some others in 1/4 scale.
  15. Noice! Was the head laser ok? Have you transformed it yet? Most seem to need their hips loosened, so don't force them.
  16. Well, you got me on a technicality, but I was actually referring to the one above Big Chap that's from Alien Isolation. You're right though, the one above is a prototype for Aliens, but Cameron chose to leave the skull exposed instead. Personally, I like this one better. Why would they suddenly have exposed sk... no. Wait. Don't start applying logic to the Alien franchise. Btw, that "newborn" from Rez is downright LEWD! I was planning on displaying it at work, but it's a bit nsfw. I was also disappointed that it doesn't have human eyes like it does in the movie.
  17. Oh, and the Cat power loader didn't come with a light up rotating warning light, so I looked to the RC community for one and found this LED version. I'm not yet sure if it actually rotates or just flashes as there weren't any directions or specs, but it looks like it has LEDs all the way around in a circle inside. This was made by Integy and is the yellow 10mm version. It's almost exactly the same size.
  18. I posted some of these before, but I've been getting more and holding out for a full group shot. The only thing left is the Aliens Warrior (I chose blue, no sense getting both blue and brown variants) which is due this month hopefully. That will be the first one to come with an egg and facehugger which will complete the set. Personally, I think the original Aliens prototype that comes with the Hadley's Hope set (inc. Burke and the sign) is much better than the one that Cameron chose to go with that has an exposed skull. I didn't get any of the other human figures because I just wanted one of each different type/stage/hybrid alien, but I had to have the Cat power loader and of course a Ripley to operate it. I consider Ripley8 from Resurrection to be a hybrid alien, so I had to have her as well. And I wouldn't have gotten David8 if he didn't come in a lot with Deacon for the same price as Deacon alone, but he's pretty important, so I'll keep him. I also got Vickers with said lot which I'll send to anyone who wants her for free plus shipping. Oh, and I agree with Ridley Scott; AvP isn't canon. Also pictured here is one that wasn't in any movie. Can you tell which it is and where it came from?
  19. If you look up the reviews of the previous 1/4 scale figures, they aren't all that articulated like the smaller ones are. The new ones look the same, but I ordered one anyway. I wish they'd do a 1/4 scale queen, but since the smaller one was $100, I doubt I could afford a big one. I recently found a thread where a guy modded his power loader to be a bit more like the movie. But he didn't do the light on top. I found this to do so from the RC community. It might be a little bit big tho. We'll see.
  20. That's a NECA figure. They're about 9" iirc, but they do vary over different versions. As poseables go, NECA is the biggest, most accurate, and have made all of the various aliens and humans from the series. I only know of Figuarts as another manufacturer of poseable Alien figures, but there may be others. Knockoffs of these abound in identical packaging, and I did buy one from China just to see. It seemed to be from the same factory as it was identical with a loose knee, so I think they're just QC rejects. As for quality, it could be better, but that goes for just about anything. The joints tend to be a bit too tight on some, too loose on others, and I had an elbow snap off of one of mine because it's only a small 2mm round peg that holds the joints to the major bits. I've also found that the translucent head coverings tend to pull up at the edges sometimes. Otherwise, they're pretty awesome figures. I highly recommend that, if you're going to get into Alien figures, you jump on the preorder for the re-release of the Cat Power Loader from Aliens. ...and a queen of course... oh, and you'll want the "Rescuing Newt" 2 figure set to go with the power loader so that you can get the proper "dirty" Ripley to go in the loader. The other one looks way too clean and perfect, especially with the weathering on the loader. That can come out any time now NECA!!! I'm very impatient after being promised it in August, especially since I have EVERY OTHER ALIEN now waiting in my pile o' loot. Edit: YES!!! I literally JUST got the email saying it was due in the next few days. There's going to be robot vs alien fight very soon!
  21. Looks like the Valkyrie Factory VF-31J has been put off until 1st quarter 2020. They still have pics of the model kit up instead of anything they actually made.
  22. If you don't want it mirrored and don't want to do backgrounds, try lining the back with black velvet. The acetate type works best. It's the closest thing to vantablack the average consumer can get, and thus it looks like space. Route a few fiber optic strands from your light source, poke them into the fabric from the back, and you'll have stars too!
  23. Looks good! Not to disparage your display, but if you want a more invisible string, try fluorocarbon fishing line. It's more expensive but thinner and clearer than regular mono line.

    Hi-Metal R

The chest piece is a little loose, but otherwise, I highly recommend it. For $40 or so, it's absolutely worth it. Double, double barrel strike cannons FTW!
