I don't know but I'm getting it great on RealOne here (under Mac OS X 10.3.5). I'm getting an ad right now, of Michael Garcia saying that the show will be at 7:30 PM Sunday night on a show called "Unwound". Looks to me like this is an entirely Internet station without an actual radio transmitter. Here are their connection options: I don't know what the non-WMP/non-RealPlayer options do... Here's some info from their FAQ: I wonder if there's a way to capture a stream using any of the possible client software packages? And if so, can you schedule a capture? (Sort of like TiVo for RealPlayer )

I wonder if you (or someone else) would take measurements (battroid height, fighter length and wingspan) of the MPC? I don't think we can rely on the size of the pilot to be sure of the scale. The Alpha/Legioss dimensions are known (unlike some other mecha, I think HG's numbers are the same as the original values from Mospeada), so from that we can calculate the scale precisely and see if the Imai is too small for 1/48 or the MPC is too big for 1/55. If it's 1/48, that might nudge me ever so slightly closer to trying to pick one up at some point.

Okay, I found the sheet music for the Macross theme song in TIA 3 and I photographed it. There's a legible if small version here (about 100k). A bigger version (1.6 megs) is here. Printouts made from the large one might look better, but I'll probably delete it eventually, so get it now if you want it. Looks like the sheet music lacks the initial flourish but that should be easy to transcribe. P.S. Don't miss the sharps...I think the song is in D major, but I'm not a musician.

Ditto on those Tigers. And a great start on the Monster. Did you mention what kind of camera you're using?

Well, the page info says August 19, 2003. It must be linked somewhere, but I don't know where--google found it. Ah, here it is: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/_updates_menu_005.htm There's also a link to the magazine photos at http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/news/_news_n044.htm So basically, nope, Shawn still has nose to grindstone, leaving it up to us gnomes to ferret out all the Macross goodies.

The IHP page is kind of hard to find, so look here: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models/ihp/ihp_main.htm Go back up to the main models page to find the Bandais. At the risk of stretching the notion of "model" beyond the breaking point, there are also the Bandai HCMs. But due to the swingbars, not very accurate.

But what do those things look like when transformed? Anyway, when you really think back to the genesis of Macross--the fact that the project finally got off the ground through a synergy of toy marketing and a TV cartoon--the 1/55 is the perfect product for that purpose. The triple-transformable Valkyrie is one of the key elements of Macross's appeal, and the 1/55 emphasizes playability and ease of transformation for all ages. While Graham may be able to speed-transform his 1/48's, I really don't think the 1/48 or 1/60 design is as accessible and quite as good at encapsulating the dynamic triple-changing nature of the Valkyrie in toy form. That's why I'm planning on keeping at least one 1/55 and one 1/100. But for the sake of enjoying the beauty of the Valkyrie design and the coolness of a realistic-looking science fiction mecha, I prefer the 1/60's and 1/48's. The 1/48 in particular just looks "alive" in the battroid and Gerwalk modes. As for improvements to the 1/55, I think the single biggest improvement they could have done (don't know how easy it would have been) would have been to give the hips/knees a greater range of motion so as to allow more dynamic battroid poses and a more correct Gerwalk. Kingnor recently posted some pics of his modded 1/55 bootleg over in this thread. Here are a couple:

TIA #11 covers DYRL and probably has DYRL the song in it. But there's also TIA nos. 3, 5, and 7. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/series_tia357.htm I'll bet one of them has some of the music from the series, but it's been a while since I've looked at my copies. TIA Macross 1 & 2 are also possibilities. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/series_tia1_2.htm All of the above show up on eBay from time to time (more frequently on Yahoo Japan auctions). The 3-5-7 books are more common. If you bug us enough, though, I'm sure someone will look at their copies and determine if the music is in there.

SDFcommander, it looks great until picture 5. Then I see that it still has that "broken back" look which everyone has complained about. If it looks like that on the ground, what happens when you pick it up? Surely the fighter mode should have a mechanism which locks the body straight.

Here are the lyrics and translation: http://www.animeigo.com/Liner/MACROSS.t#4 As for the music, it might be in one of the This is Animation books. Recordings are probably in Macross The Complete and possibly Macross Song Collection. See http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/music/_music_cds.htm

Aircraft VS super thread!

Who cares about originality--if it's a good plane, it's a good plane. (And if it isn't...) -
We've known for a long time that Big West will pull the rug on a project if it involves paying royalties to HG. This isn't surprising, since doing so might weaken BW's legal case in the unresolved dispute over Macross copyrights and trademarks.

Erm, which isn't to say that his walkthrough isn't confusing at points. E.g.: Prometheus stage 2. I won't say any more than that there are TWO timers in this stage, and all of his discussion concerns the second one. Anyway, I wouldn't bother to post that except I found another FAQ/walkthrough: http://betermusic.myrice.com/aero/r_doc/SD...Walkthrough.txt

MGREXX was about as unhappy as you with his first Alpha, as he reported over at RT.com. Then he received his second which he said was much better. So you're probably not an angry old Ahab...just a victim of poor QC.

No flames here, but I wonder why the 1/60 got such a poor design rating? Is it primarily the detachable legs?
-
HG has been trying to leverage its Macross license to sell toys based on Do You Remember Love, and they've snagged a couple domain names, like macrossmovie.com so that people who look for DYRL on the net will get directed to robotech.com.

Aircraft VS super thread!

The globalsecurity article mentions that it's underpowered, but otherwise it's described as being better than whatever the PRC had to offer (at least when the article was written). -
You might try the newbie thread for future questions. Most of your questions (size of Macross, meaning of "reaction weapons") can be answered at http://macross.anime.net http://macross.anime.net/mecha/united_nati...ross/index.html http://www.anime.net/macross/story/encyclo...eaction_weapon/

I was never that interested in this toy anyway, but I am curious about the size discrepancy. So far, we've seen photos that show it to be much larger than a 1/55 Gakken, and other photos where it's only slightly smaller than a 1/48 Imai.

As long as we're taking a little side tour of obscure but interesting fighters, look what I found...for those who can't decide if they prefer the Tigershark, Hornet, or Falcon, I present, the Ching-kuo Indigenous Defense Fighter. Some pic links: pic 1, pic 2, pic 3. -
Macross Plus OAV Sub w/ Guld's Death
ewilen replied to tim patterson's topic in Movies and TV Series
It is definitely not in the Manga Entertainment DVD OAV release. That's based on my copy of the UK Ultimate edition, as well as everything I've ever read about the US DVD. There's no US/R1/NTSC ultimate edition--you have to buy the OAV (2 discs with two eps./disc) and movie separately. At one point Manga was talking about a US bundle which people thought might be equivalent to the Ultimate edition, but it was actually going to be some kind of Macross II/Macross Plus combo. In the end it was never released. -
Macross Plus OAV Sub w/ Guld's Death
ewilen replied to tim patterson's topic in Movies and TV Series
Just an added data point. The UK Macross Plus Ultimate edition DVD set (R2) includes both the OAV and the movie; the OAV definitely doesn't have the gruesome shots of Guld losing his eyes, while the movie does (unfortunately, like the American release, the movie is a transfer from videotape with hardcoded subtitles). -
Yes, the guy doesn't seem too concerned about keeping his Macross and RT separate, not to mention a lot of rather obnoxious remarks sprinkled throughout the walkthrough. But still, he provides some of the most complete info I've seen.
