  1. Actually he designed them "slim" to allow for the bulk of the Armor pack. All previous designs had internal ordinance. The VF-25s were akin to the earlier VF designs were the ordinance was external.
  2. Hmmm, that statement makes one wonder who the SA really are? Many of us have assumed they were the PD army, but that is NOT the case. Could they be the remnants of the Stellar Republic Army trying to stop the uninhibited Zentradi from continuing to attack PC worlds? If this is the case then it would explain how in 2000 years of fighting, the PC civilization is reduced to: It also adds weight to the idea that the Supervision Army were indeed fleets tasked with commanding the Zentradi armadas in combat. Thus made up of primarily PC microne commanders and likely Zentradi security forces (hence the need for accommodations for giants aboard the SA gunship, aka A.S.S., aka Macross).
  3. Fugliest battroid Kawamori ever designed, even worse than the VF-4 and that's saying something...
  4. Which spawns the question "What motivates the SA now?" However that is a discussion for a different or new thread...
  5. I used the term Varauta in reference to the planet where the Evil Series were created (which could be totally wrong, I don't recall at the moment of this writing), not to be confused with the "mind controlled" former Megaroad 13 personnel of Macross 7 fame.
  6. That, I believe... BTW, Gub, I didn't know you wore glasses...
  7. Any chance of seeing a resin VF-171 conversion kit for the Bandai 1/144 scale VF-17 Nightmare? That would be tres cool!!!
  8. OK, YOU wouldn't go for that. Kawamori is OK with a lot more than many of his fans give him credit for. To him, the Macross productions are simply dramatic stories of historical events in the Macross universe. Therefore, little is sacred...
  9. That's a bit misleading IMO. The Supervision Army or Inspection Army were derived from ships and personnel originally on Varuata as well as the nearby star systems that the PD invaded. So technically they were "once" part of the Stellar Republic, but became pawns of the Protodevlin after they fell under mind control. Granted, there is no published proof the Zentradi were part of the the military forces on or around the Varuata planet, however, it is a logical leap of faith to expect they were present. The Zentradi do "fight" early in the PD war, but are not effective. One can speculate that against Zentradi they fought, but were inhibited when faced with Protoculture based or mixed forces. Their prime directive stopped them from doing any harm. When that was removed, all bets were off.
  10. We won't know until a version is released to our sweaty little hard drives...
  11. Would they though? They'd have the cream of the "surviving" pilots as CAGs, WCs and Squadron Leaders. Vets of the UN wars for sure, but also keep in mind there was also a demand for seasoned pilots elsewhere on Spacy facilities world wide and on space installations. I'd expect there to be a lot of highly trained rookies, possibly the best of their respective classes aboard the Macross lead by combat vetrans, not a ship load full of vets. That idea really doesn't make logical sense in a world that is expecting imminent attack by aliens. The notion of "putting all your eggs in one basket" comes to mind...
  12. Keep us posted. It would be cool to have some Western representation there...
  13. Well the one benefit is that it would free BigWest from any entanglements with Tatsunoko and by extension HG. Since according to Kawamori, SDFM is mearly a TV show based on the historical events of actual Macross history, then you really can't deviate very far from the historical events of SW1. Minmay HAS to be in it, and various other characters as well. How it is told and from who's point of view is up to dramatic interpretation... I'm sure the Canonites hate it when that is pointed out... However, I'd wager a bet that the Gundam staff wish they'd thought of it first! Then the various reboots of Gundam could be justified...
  14. 'Tis the information age my friend. If Kawamori smurfs the net for feedback on his shows, it isn't a huge stretch to think that the researchers on Chronicle wouldn't do the same...
  15. November 13, 2008 Short interview about the Macross F movie with Kawamori:
  16. According to the publisher, the second part of the interview went on about his non-Macross projects and his world views. The admins response lead me to another article with the character designers of Frontier which is posted below.
  17. It's not that hard actually. Though Mac II would see major changes to the background story though. To be fair to the writers of the Chronicle, most of the source material you reference Seto is out of print and most likely hard to come by in Japan today. Unfortunately your Mac II site remains under construction, so they can't even reference that...
  18. LOL, good stuff!! Personally if they go that route I'd rather see a re-animation of the original material or changes along the lines of Mikimoto's Macross First (minus Minmay's stupid pet) rather than a reboot. I'm all for a re-make of Mac 7. but SDFM is too well written to improve... Add a couple of episodes to better flesh out the Max / Millia romance and properly integrate the final episodes into the whole story like it was originally planned. Did I also mention hover tanks that transform into metallic bunnies with guns as well as battroids?
  19. I hate to rain on YOUR parade oh condescending one, but I took Greek in College (dont' ask, long story). Although, upon further study of the actual insignia, I am thinking it isn't supposed to represent a letter at all. It very well could be representing the galaxy spiral of sorts or quite simply an interesting design that Kawamori liked. There has never been an explanation of the kite (arrow) on the UNS insignia, but we accept it nonetheless... Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.... Although, I like the amalgam idea of the insignias. The interesting question would be what happens if they absorb another culture into the fold? My take on the NUNG is that it transformed into more of a federation of member colony worlds and fleets rather than the governing authority it once was. Information is freely shared among the members as well as joint self defense.
  20. The thrusters are most likely a larger version of the ones used on the EX-Gear suits. Despite the larger size of the the post SW-1 Valks, it appears that the technologies incorporated into them are becoming smaller and more powerful as the years roll on.
