Thanks for the corrections. I was not referring to other fleets or colonies, but the Federally controlled NUNS fleets, like Macross 13 fleets. The "YF" designator is reserved for prototypes (in US military terms) and if an aircraft is adopted the YF designator is dropped in favor of the "F" or in a Macross case "VF". They don't magically change their number if they go into production as some may think. The YF-17 Cobra - the prototype fighter that lost the USAF competition to the YF-16, became the basis for the Navy's F-18 later on. Similarly the YF-21 lost the UN competition to the YF-19, but became the basis for the VF-22. The reasoning behind my belief that the YF-24 has become the NUNS new VF-24 is the logical progression and implication that the NUNS would not transmit the designs for the fighter if was not adopted for production. Some colony and emigration fleets might take the YF-24 and not modify it at all, whereas others may choose to develop a VF-26 or VF-28, much like how the VF-25 and VF-27 were developed. I would guess that VF-26 and YF-28 variants must exist otherwise why call the Lucifer a VF-27 or the new fighter a YF-29, if we are following US military aircraft numbering conventions? Kawamori may like odd numbers for his fighters, but that is a personal preference of his. In the US military, the numbers are assigned based on the order in which the planes are submitted for evaluation to the military, nothing more mystical than that. Hence why there seemed to be a jump from F-18 to F-22 to F-35. Other designs simply didn't win their respective competitions or make it off the drawing board. Was that in the Chronicle? I've never heard that before...

Yeah. The thing is that many of the effects you employed in this render can be done easily in Photoshop instead of in your 3D rendering application. You've seen this in the compositions I've done with your work. Working from a clear, clean base or image allows for much more manipulation in PS than something with an already rendered motion blur or the like. Special Effects can be added, but it's much harder to "work around" existing effects. Lighting is never a problem I've found, because it is just a matter of manipulating the background image to compliment the rendered light source on the fighter. My last composite of the VF-24 with the blue horizon was exactly that. I manipulated the background to work with the light source already on the fighter.

I'd agree with that assessment regarding RW copyright rulings and add Western TM's as well. The re-organization of UNS to NUNS became an convenient tool for Kawamori to change the name and insignia of "Federal" fleets. It also provided a dramatic tool to reorganize the UNG. Empowered by the Galaxy Network, the UNG became a federation of member states. Whether those states were colony worlds or emigration fleets, each were an autonomous member world of the UNG, but separate with their own governments. It also opens the door to inter-colonial conflicts and frees up the creative team from being tethered to emigration fleets like it has been with the last two series'. "Macross the Race" is also expounding on the idea that Federal government is "holding back" the bleeding edge technological advancements for UNG controlled NUNS fleets and not fulling disclosing them to emigration fleets. Hence the desire / need for emigration fleets to develop their own versions of next generation fighters - VF-25 and VF-27, based off the YF-24 airframe. Not unlike how governments operate today. The US F-16 is a different aircraft than the Japanese version or even the Israeli version, yet they look similar. I tend to believe the VF-24 is the next generation of Federal fighter that has much more under the hood than the emigration fleets are aware of. This gives the Feds a tactical advantage if the need ever arose for them to defend themselves against an aggressive or rogue state.

My sweet Lord! Some of those renders look real! I can only imagine how amazing those would look with textures.... Very nice! WOW I think you managed to get the pilot size scale right... Thank you Now about those VF-25s with the VF-19 wings.... I agree with akt_m, the easiest way is to take pictures of your toy in the poses you want on a neutral background, like grey or dark blue. Make sure the resolution is at least about 3000 pixels at a minimum of 300 dpi to maintain the detail level when shrunk down to a wallpaper size. If you can't do it yourself, I'm sure several members with some Photoshop experience could cobble something together for you if you ask nicely...

Nice! This model is definitely much more detailed... Hey boss, were you able to make a render of the VF-25 with forward swept wings? The ones you did earlier were great, except they didn't have a neutral background and you added motion blur...

Sweet thanks. Were these vectors?

Question for the fortunate who've seen the cinematic marvel.... I believe it was linked in the series by Sheryl simply hearing Ranka sing it... -
FINALLY!! Now if we could only convince them to release all of the Valks they have in their license stable! I am so buying "several" of those... I own the metallic VF-100 limited edition fighters and they are damn pretty! Hopefully their molds are the basis for this kit!

The YF-29 looks like it was developed inversely to the VF-9. The fighter had to fit the battroid, whereas in the VF-9, the battroid had to fit the fighter... Proud Papa pic... -
I am so loving the Angel Birds shield and the text graphics . Are you going to post those as well?

"Bare Metal" is a term describing fighters with no paint. All the various metals and composite materials are seen on the aircraft. The first F-15 Strike Eagle fighters had a "bare metal" finish. Now they are painted like every other aircraft. Here is an example of a bare metal fighter. A Japanese kit builder made this custom YF-24 from a VF-25 model kit, and gave it a "bare metal" finish: I hope this clears things up...

I wonder what it would look like with different colored metallic textures similar to bare metal fighters.

IF they did they'd actually have a chance to work directly with Big West and Kawamori. Until WB shakes the HG monkey off its back with this property they will never get access to the most profit potential aspect of the the RT show = Macross! Do McKeever and Yune EVER take responsiblity for something negative? It's like a corporate Bush Administration...

The CG look 100x better than the lineart or the kit. The GERWALK still rules! I'm glad to see Bandai planning to exploit the 100 scale kits with VF-25s as well as custom YF-29s. If they were wise, they'd use the line to release all the Macross VF's they own licenses on. They'd make a killing on the VF-4's and VF-17's alone....

How much of that was waiting for the game development to be finished? I'd suggest, a LOT! Then there is the desire to finish its box office run as well... Here, if a movie bombs its on the DVD shelves within a month of release, if it does well (depending on the studio) we'll see it within 3 months. Not to mention our distribution channels are much simpler than the Japanese... ================================================================================ As for me, I'll read the spoilers, I don't care. Just like BSG, I could know the story beginning to end , it still won't stop me from buying the BD when it comes out and enjoying the eye candy when I can see it... Knowing a story and experiencing a story are two different animals...
