So is Harmony Gold a subsidiary of LucasArts? -
Nice touch having Sheryl wearing Alto's SMS jacket...

They would be better off selling "Blanks" and offering after market decal sheets for customers. Either way the customer can customize their valk however they want...

Hmmm, I thought you might have been mistaking George "retcon" Lucas with Star Trek the "Berman years", where they tried to sue "fansites" for copyright infringement... -

Why do I expect this art to somehow show up on official posters and such ... (yes I am resurrecting the old assertion that BW is stealing MM's coloring work to use in their ad campaigns!) -

DOH! -
Pretty cool, but I think the composited image of the flight bay is what really makes it stand out...

Yes and no, the fighter is a large lift body so for dog fighting it might has issues, but for interception it is effective in an atmosphere and her firepower is formidable in and out of space. As I understand it, she is a heavy fighter bomber and for some reason I recall reading it was favored by Zentradi fleets (but I don't recall where I saw that). -
Yeah kinda mean to have a link in one of your pictures to a page that doesn't exist...

The implication was that with the advances from Overtechnology, new materials and processes would be developed to achieve smaller stronger components for aircraft in the Macross universe. The idea of smelting metals in a zero g environment is the first to come to mind. Such a process would alllow more uniform strength to materials since they would not be affected by planetary gravity... Also advances in metalurgy provided by reverse engineering PC based materials in ASS-1 and / or raiding any surviving technical databases aboard the ship.

Does this mean "Phoenix" has become the Zero's official name? BTW, "Soviet" Russia?

Why not just "Arrow"? It is simple, the fighter resembles an arrow and it's easily remembered...

That's high praise indeed!

Sweet! You know what I've always wanted to do was get 1/7 scale macross flight helmets to paint and display from the various series'. I think that this process of modelling might be what I've been waiting for. I initially thought resin would do, but that can be such a messy process. SDFM = 4 different paint styles Mac II - 4 paint styles Mac Plus = 2 Types Mac 7 = 6 (maybe more) types Mac F = 2 Types and about 4 paint styles SDFM-1st = New type and I suspect the same paint styles as the OS. Hmm, makes a person think....

The anime really failed to give you a true sense of how formidable the Glaug really was to face in battle...

After seeing so many amazing colorized valks, along with many in the US Naval markings schemes it occurred to me that some adjustments might be in order. I've been edumacating myself on US Navy markings on Jets and found the tail lettering to be the AirWing the fighter belongs to. A two letter Air Wing designation only allows for 676 air wing combinations and thus by the time of Mac Plus it is reasonable to conclude they must have switched to 3 letter designations which would allow for approximately 17576 air wings to be registered in UN Spacy as opposed to the initial 676. Another thing I still have to confirm but it appears that the "Modex" numbers on the Spacy valks in SDFM are US Airforce numbers or another countries numbering convention. US Navy Modex never start with a zero, prefix numbers "1" & "2" are for fighter craft, "3" & "4" are for attack craft (though with the US navy flying mostly F/A Hornets it would seem that #'s 1 - 4 are F/A squadrons anyway), "5" is for Electronics craft "6" is for Early Warning aircraft and Helos begin with "7". The only time a prefix is "0" is if the fighter is an Admiral's bird... The next 2 digits designate who belongs to the fighter - "00" is a CAG (Commander of Air Group), "01" is a squadron commander's fighter, "02" the squadron XO, etc, usually the number "13" is skipped... The Marines only use a 3 digit modex when they are assigned to a carrier wing, otherwise ground based squadrons use a two digit modex number for their aircraft. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modex

Yours was totally superior!

One must also keep in mind that the use of new materials and composite ceramics would affect the size of certain items. For instance a 6" diameter landing strut might have the same strength in 4" with better materials, add the shrinking of other traditional sized parts and compacting an aircraft is not so impossible...
