New Macross F BD Digital Remaster Boxset - TV series
Zinjo replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Agreed. Adding English (+other language) subs for export customers and even a commissioned English dub would make it worth the money. Otherwise it is simply a cash grab, regardless of the re-master. If Big West can do an English dub and subtitles for the Macross Plus "International Release" DVD set, back in the 90's, they can do it for this release or my money stays in my pocket. I'm sure the English voice track and subtitles boosted the international sales of Macross Plus. It is what got me to buy it. They should commission an expatriate Japanese person who has lived in the west for a number of years to translate the script, like the owner of Half Moon Books in Vancouver. She wants to start a sideline business translating Manga, She tells me that too often Western translators don't understand the "intent" of the words, thus giving an accurate word for word translation devoid of the meaning of the dialogue or story. I'm sure there are others out there like her. Well we can always hope HG finally goes bankrupt or at the very least sells their Macross rights to Warner Brothers...- 104 replies

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1 special 30th Anniversary paint scheme by Hidetaka
Zinjo replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Model kits
Why don't they just release commemorative "Studio Models" of the fighters for these Production commemoratives? I love my special edition VF100-VF-25F&S fighter build ups that Bandai released, why not just release more of those types? I'd rather see a 30th Anniversary of SW1 Commermorative VF-171 or VF-25 as "in-universe" paint schemes... The artwork is gorgeous to be sure, but it just seems out of place to me. -
Very Sexy!!

What font did you use for the lettering?

Let him try to keep up and let him watch episodes repeatedly until he gets it all (should he want). Reading subtitles is a good thing, it will help him read better and faster later on. If he gets frustrated, help him out, but don't deny him the opportunity to try. I never did with my daughter and she prefers her anime subtitled now anyway. It wasn't easy and sometimes she got frustrated but she stuck with it and caught as much as she could. He will have memories of watching the show with his dad and that he'll carry with him forever. I still remember the few times I watched Star Trek with my dad, the closet SF fan , and they are some of my fondest memories of my childhood. I suggest giving the little guy a chance to try to keep up, it won't hurt him any.

VF-1A to 1S, ppgrade or complete replacement when promoted in DYRL?
Zinjo replied to peter's topic in Movies and TV Series
If I remember correctly, the "S" variant has more "command" equipment on board, such as a more advanced communication system, combat computer, more responsive, etc ... Tools a squadron commander would need in combat, so unlike RW US naval norms where the CAG's bird is flown by more than just the CAG, in the Macross universe only the CAG or Squadron Commander flies his own bird. I always considered the Vermillion "team" a "flight" of the Skull squadron. Squadrons are made up of several "flights" which consist of 3 - 4 fighters, which collectively make up the squadron. Now giving a name to a flight is a bit unusual I suspect. Now if the Skull team was the name of a Carrier Wing, then Vermillion could be a squadron in that Wing, but we have not proof of that so far. Kawamori once upon a time stated that the actual events of Macross were somewhere between SDFM and DYRL and then that changed when M7 was released, which relegated DYRL to a movie within the universe (IMO a coward's way out, but that is just me). However it would appear that his assertion that DYRL showed the aesthetics he originally imagined for the SDFM series in both design and look, which has further been reinforced by both M7 and MF. So I lean toward the DYRL color schemes and fighter designs more than the SDFM versions. Though Kawamori still maintains (to his credit) that the events shown in all the productions are merely media productions of the actual historical events in the Macross universe, similar to how there can be several films or TV shows about the events of WW1 or WW2. They are dramatic representations of the actual events, which may or may not be taken as cannon. I think the Chronicle goes a bit too far trying to explain the discrepancies. They should simply try to present the "historical record". Certain events occurred, certain equipment was built, certain people were present, certain geo-political climates and conditions were present during various eras. As for the fighter being the first mount of Ijicho, I wonder how that would have been accomplished, considering he was a war hero and one would expect his fighters, as well as Max Jenius' and even Fokers would have been in a war museum somewhere on Earth. A replica I could see, but the actual craft seems a bit incredible. -
I don't know if this is a download or not, but a trick I learned when scanning is to get a sheet of black paper to put behind the page to absorb the text on the other side. This keeps most of the text on the other side from bleeding through on to the scan.

Nice work nonetheless

Very Nice!! Do you have a reference showing this as the actual flight patch?

Ryuji, Forever a fan of your work. BRAVO! Did you update the cockpit from your previous cast?

They should have used the VF-11D molds on this one IMHO.

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1 special 30th Anniversary paint scheme by Hidetaka

Love that display stand!! -
This is what I love about japanese culture. Where businesses can share resources for mutual benefit. It is entirely possible Haseqawa has licensed the Frontier "Fighter" designs from Bandai under some sort of terms agreement not to produce a battroid to compete with the Bandai transforming kits. Either way, I too am stoked about the possibility of Hasegawa quality Frontier fighters. I've never been a fan of Bandai's transformable kits ever since I built my first Bandai VF-1 back in the day. Transforming Valks should be relegated to toys where they can now be engineered with similar quality to static kits.

Where did you find her?!!

Wow! I love the update!

More more and in higher resolutions.... fine work!

Just put them in a zip file and upload the zip file. It is the new forum's setting that automoatically shrinks image files down to an acceptable size. A zip file allows you to avoid this. The admins and mods recommend doing it that way as they are not going to change the forum settings.

LOL, true enough... The voice of reason out of the wilderness...

You know, I was getting that same impression from you, considering how completely benign the comments you reference were. However, I choose to behave more respectfully despite that attitude. Perhaps the offense came from my audacity to disagree or question your holy word.. Well that is a personal problem you will need to deal with. As I've said ignorance can be cured... Thus I have some updates to look up.
-
So you say.
-
I already stated I have not updated my self on the new stuff. Not sure how you missed that. Will need to get on those updates... Ignorance is cureable, stupid is not...

Then that would be Egan Loo mis-translations in the old Compendium... That is what I am basing my premise on, not some fan sub. http://macross.anime.net//story/chronology/1999/index.html I do not know what was changed in the compendium as I've not read any updates on the subject, yet.

UH OH, I smell retcon that I've missed...
