  1. It's been a while... I thought I'd toss these up for whoever wants them. Pretty basic 1920x1080+1920x1200 Anniversary walls. The full resolutions of 1090+1200p walls in attached zip file: YF-30-Macross_Anniversary.zip
  2. My pet belief is that the Mardook would be an offshoot of "awakened" SA who simply went bat sh*t crazy when faced with the extermination fleets of the Zentradi. Over time their fight for survival became a corrupted religion of cultural purity.... But that's just me ...
  3. I'm gonna hold out for the Hasegawa kit. If I can't get an official VF-24 with a delta wing, this is an acceptable substitute
  4. Wow it only took what? 15 Years for Hasegawa to make one? The last 1/48 was that amazing resin kit back in the day...
  5. Ah yes, I remember the days I belonged to a BF tournament years ago, Ate about 18 months of my life, but was quite the ride.... Still haven't played BF3, RL taking up much of my spare time right now...
  6. I can't speak to the 3D critique, but I did notice that the shadow on the Valk leg is not in the same direction as Sheryl's leg. Shadows don't often fall in different directions unless there is another strong light source to make that happen. There isn't in this shot. Looking very good though, I really look forward to the reworked image to see what you come up with...
  7. Very Nice!! Misa never get's the love Minmay does...
  8. You know I am beginning to look forward the the MWC poster every year. It is always outstanding!!
  9. There are no words.... Wow!!
  10. Bandai's transformable VF-1 was always it's achilles heal of kits. Too many compromises to make it work and the kit is still not worth the Yen...
  11. CVN = C - Carrier / V - Fixed Wing / N - Nuclear ( http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/shusn-no/cv-no.htm ) Although Macross also has the Prometheus designated as CVS (I suspect the "S" is for submersible). If Macross borrows from the US Navy for its designations ( http://www.navweaps.com/index_tech/index_ships_list.htm http://www.militaryfactory.com/ships/us-navy-ship-classifications.asp), then we could use these lists to get an idea. I was trying to figure out where the Macross Quarter would fit in. One could argue it is more of a LHA type vessel. It is a variable assault carrier. Perhaps with a designation of LVAS = L - Light / V - variable Aircraft / A - Assault / S -Space (which appears to be the standard designation for space ships). Essentially, it would become (or a variant thereof) the preferred carrier for smaller UN Marine task forces, IMHO.
  12. If Warner Bros were in the mix, I'd say "Perhaps", but it is most likely an opportunity to highlight to Macross fans that other Kawamori properties are available for Sale in the West.
  13. LOVE THE FLANEL SPACE SUIT!! Going topless in space too, you are a brave man...
  14. Kawamori treats Macross productions like historical dramas. The spine of the story is based in historical fact (within the universe) but the details are open to dramatic interpretations. Some folks like to canonize one thing or another, but all we can count on really is a general historical timeline and mechanical designs... The rest is loosely canon. If you belong to the camp that MUST HAVE CANON, then this discussion will give you a headache.
  15. A little off the subs topic, but might we get a 1080p "All that VF" goodie in this set? All the more reason for BigWest to release their Macross properties with multi-language subtitles. To avoid the bootlegs on e-bay!!
  16. On the contrary, Global has no "right" to be a commander of anything. The Spacy brass and likely some politicians made that call, based upon his abilities and experience. However, I did forget that he was an Oberth Captain during the wars, so he'd be of the few who had space combat, command experience.
  17. I believe the UN or New UN is more of a federation of allied states as Frothy mentioned. More like the current UN on Earth, but with a Federal military arm. Kawamori implied (IIRC) that the R&D on Valkyrie tech originates in federal facilities, but not all the tech is freely shared with the fleets (Macross: the Ride), I suspect to avoid any technological equality with armed rebellions against the Centralized authority, its agencies or forces. Hence you can have the VF-25 and VF-27 variants from the YF-24 air frame. Two fighters not directly developed by UN Spacy, but apparently authorized by earning a "VF" designation. This withholding of tech is not new as the US does't export the F-22 and only select allies get full versions of exported US Fighter technologies, to maintain the country's tech superiority in fighter craft. Much of the speculation about the existence of the VF-24 comes from what Kawamori revealed in "The Ride". Nothing official mind you, but a reasonable extrapolation that the next Gen UN Spacy fighter would be the VF-24 with all the tech advancements not shared with the emigration fleets like Frontier or Galaxy.
  18. I have all the discs and the movies, the only thing that would prompt me to buy this set is English subtitles "AT LEAST", English dub track would be a slam dunk for a pre-order. The re-master looks good, but not enough to merit 33800 yen!!
  19. I've never understood how Global's tenure as a submarine Captain qualified him as the commander of a deep space, Battleship/ Aircraft Carrier?? He's used to confined places??? Just continues to confound me...

    YF-21 WIP

I have nothing but respect for 3D modelers, they can do what I cannot I AM a fan of your Q-Rau's !!

    YF-21 WIP

Says the guy with a Q-Rau as an Avatar ... You are aware the YF-21 is like humanity's take on a Q-Rau right?
  22. Outside of Yune's ego, makes a person wonder why they didn't try animating the books (naturally without the Macross element, due to IP infringment issues)??
  23. Yep, one of the few Japanese properties done right in the West...
