  1. LAZARUS COME FORTH!! I thought this thread was long dead and buried...
  2. Grebo Guru had an amazing collection of VF-2's including the VF-XS. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showuser=4460 http://grebo-guru.deviantart.com/art/VF-2SS-Valkyrie-II-as-VF-20-330419820 He has a few on is deviant art page, but not all the ones he once posted here... Alas, he is not doing as much Macross art anymore. He was a very talented line art compositor. He put together some pretty amazing ideas from line art parts...
  3. So long as they've learned their lesson from M7 that regurgitating the same one of few songs over and over again does not constitute a soundtrack! Further to Gubaba's point, any TV series is a major financial investment and no business school graduate has the stones to change the "Macross Formula" on such an expensive endeavor. The three pillar TV formula will remain until Macross is no more...
  4. Wow he's held the idea of the dramatic telling of historical events since 1998. This is quite the flip!! Although, it isn't his first... I have to agree it's probably less controversial for him than his long held position. I recall when Ron Moore basically told the fan base on the BSG forums that on BSG, drama supercedes technical accuracy. I admired that confession by Mr. Moore, several others hated it. I guess he feels that if "EVERYTHING" is a parallel universe then he can do whatever he wants and is justified, because no holy canon was disturbed in the making of a good new story...
  5. Isn't that called "snap-fit"? I don't recall them being particularly difficult to build. Considering BW has never made any attempt to shut down the garage kit industry in Japan or here, I'd venture a "Yes" would be the appropriate response...
  6. I'll see what I can find too Marchy... I know i have some 1920x1080 screenies somewhere.
  7. Macross 2 had a non-transformable GERWALK type craft. It wasn't a hero vehicle so saw very little screen time. It appeared to act very much like a Attack Chopper and a close combat space vehicle against capital ships.
  8. If this is indeed the case, does that not undermine his whole premise about all the media being dramatic points of view of the same historical events?? The guy needs to settle on what he wants! Either they are parallel worlds or they are dramatic interpretations of historical events....
  9. You ever consider doing custom paints on the Rhea's? There are the twin grey Rhea's of the Pixie Squad and the the Green and Yellow Rhea from Galia IV.
  10. Considering even Kawamori is distancing himself from M7 perhaps the fetishism isn't exactly for SDFM but the other series.... The challenge for the producers now is to find sponsors for a mecha series when the industry is losing confidence in that type of show. BW would do better to do another OVA series or several instead. The time may not be suited to another TV show right now.
  11. Dude, I would not even count you near the individuals who would populate the "encyclopedia nazi" ranks on these boards.. Being a stats fiend is totally different from having a closed mind to new or the possibility of new aspects of a vast universe like Macross. Logical extrapolations are not "sin" they are exactly what they are, educated guesses based upon the information (or lack thereof) at hand.
  12. This obsession that anything Macross must be written by Kawamori has always worried me. No successor is being trained or even considered. I look at what Berman did to the Star Trek franchise after Roddenberry died and his behavior is what ultimately beached that whale! The fanbase didn't help either as they refused to allow the show runners any latitude in story telling. Franchise canon was god and must be worshiped with mindless obedience. I suspect that is why Moore played it a bit fast and loose on BSG from time to time. The story was more important than the minutia of the details and he said as much. Kawamori subscribes to a similar idea. All Macross productions are not historical records but dramatizations of Macross history, and a lot more latitude is available to the producers as a result. When we get into debates over canon it drives me a bit nuts sometimes since the topic can change at any time. All it takes is an new official retcon and that's it! I remember the debates about the SDF-4 Global on these boards and how fantastic the mental gymnastics were to reconcile how the SDF-1 could appear on Galia IV. The obvious idea that more than one SDF Warship was built was treated as heresy at the time... It turned out to be true after all... Canon has its place, but it should not be THE PLACE...
  13. His surname just bugs me... There is no Italian on the planet named "Global"!! One of the few areas where I agree with Macek when they changed him to a Russian named Gloval... There I said it, kill me...
  14. Just filling in the blanks. A more comprehensive list is here if one is to be a completeist: http://www.imdb.com/company/co0004023/?ref_=tt_dt_co Now back to the empty void that is the new series announcement...
  15. The thing is that RT is not the main focus of HG. HG has been in the business of licensing international TV and Movies for the US Market for decades. Anime is only a small division of their business and RT appears to be the only remaining property in that division. The Agrama family has had a white knuckle death grip on the Macross property in the West for over a decade now thanks to their uncontested trademarking of a Big West property name back in 2003, called "Macross". They keep flogging RT to Hollywood in hopes of getting a movie deal, but without the IP rights to Macross they have a non-starter. The closest they've ever come is an Option deal with WB about 7 years ago. Every RT and Macross fan wants to see a LAM of Macross, the numbers drop considerably when Macross in not included. The only ones who don't know it are the rabid fans and those who allow themselves into being duped into believing a Live Action Movie is still coming. I suspect the Agrama's believe every time a new Macross production is released in japan that BW will come and pay them royalties to distribute it in the West, but that has never and will never happen. Finally, BW is getting smart and releasing "International" versions of their shows with foreign subtitles (English, French, Spanish, etc...) for export. There are no laws prohibiting importing of foreign made anime. So long as the anime industry keeps subtitling or even dubbing their own shows for export, we can import Macross without fear and Harmony Gold will never see a penny from any new Macross productions.
  16. 7 years ago WB bought an option on the RT property that HG owns, it has seen several writers and nothing has materialized most likely because HG has no IP rights to Macross, the one series that everyone in the RT community wants to see. It is debatable whether WB has even renewed that original option, since the fervor over Transformers is beginning to cool. The reason why so many fans are talking about Macross is because it's worst iteration is still better than what HG has put out so far. The other reason is that the brass at HG are allowing their fanbase believe that somehow HG has the IP rights to Macross outside of Japan, which is untrue. HG has dubious ownership of the trademark of Macross, the international copyright to SDFM animation and international merchandizing rights to SDFM animation, which they own by virtue or their relationship with Tatsunoko. The duped fanbase are allowed to believe that HG can import the post SDFM Macross properties and incorporate them into the RT franchise, which of course Big West would never allow. I attended a panel with McKeever once and someone in the audience asked him when Macross Plus was going to be incorporated into RT and simultaneously he and I both said, HG doesn't have rights to that property. So when pressed they will admit to what they don't own, never exactly what they do own. With the rights they currently hold all they can do is what they are doing. Re-Re-Re release the RT animation, comics, books, toys, etc.... Their OVA was a not enough of a success to green light a sequel immediately, so they are not even producing original animation to perpetuate the franchise. So long as the fan base keeps buying the regurgitated merchandise, the longer those perpetuating the franchise have jobs... But i LIKE Journey... I will admit, I would like M7 so much more if it were half as long. The meat of the story could be told in 24 episodes.
  17. Nah, it's been done. It's called Macross 7....
  18. I like the Modex number being on the back as well as on the nose, since this is a transforming fighter, having the modex # on the chest in Battroid makes sense to me. Retconning the paint scheme is a bit much, but really doesn't affect things too much for me. The DYRL schemes were more palateable for me compared to the astoundingly dramatic paint schemes of Max and Millia's hero VF-1J's from the TV show. The DYRL schemes were more consistent and added a greater sense of military uniformity compared to SDFM.
  19. Sadly, you could be right...
  20. I totally forgot about these scans. I might even have a copy of the mag in my piles o' Macross media. Finding it might be a bigger challenge though...
  21. Yeah sure Marchomatic.. Here kiddies have a little taste of this cocaine it's good for you and not at all addictive...
  22. I'd love to see that too! So you aren't the only dreamer...
  23. It'll be the same as MF was. A teaser episode in December to call it a "30th Anniversary Series" and then the actual series will begin in August / September of 2015... I won't complain though, at least it isn't 10 years between series like we've had in the past...
  24. I Love them! Always a fan of SD valks. Can't wait to see more. No pressure but there are like over a dozen now... Thank you!
  25. Well by then either WB will buy out their interests in the property entirely or they'll simply have milked the poor RT fans dry with all the repacked versions of the exact same products they've been flogging for the past 30 years... Once that happens the cost benefit of keeping the license won't be worth it anymore. Keeping a property ransom only works if your target it willing to pay. Big West isn't willing to pay, so HG is kinda screwed in their efforts to extort royalties for new Macross projects. The interweb and import laws are also undermining HG's business model. We can see the Macross shows online and then import the Blurays without interference. So long as BW keeps adding English Subtitles, and sites like Hobby Link Japan exist, they can export Macross all they want!
