  1. There is always this: http://www.hasegawausa.com/suggest-a-model.html Though I doubt it would work in the Western market because of "you know who's" nonsensical blockade of Macross products... That would be cool, but unlikely since ARMD's are not really hero ships like the Macross or Yamato. They'll probably only ever be available as garage kits and likely never in any decent scale...
  2. I would consider the battle between Frontier and Galaxy as more of a "Regional" conflict not a Civil War. Neither represented the UN federal government based on Earth. Typically Civil wars are an effort to either secede from a government or to take one over. Galaxy had plans to enslave mankind, but the federal government did not participate in the conflict. Even in the second movie it was the SMS and Frontier battling Grace and the mind controlled Vajra.
  3. Frontier and The Ride opened up several in-universe possibilities with Federal tech not being fully shared with Colonies and the idea that colonies are developing their own versions of fighters, it will be very interesting how this all plays out...
  4. You can't get the BD's IN Japan for less than several hundred bux either!!
  5. I am not so sure. Re-purposing existing molds and marketing them is much more profitable (Hasegawa anyone?). The expense of engineering, new CAD designs, making the molds, etc, etc... of several new valks would be considerable. Even just re-engineering accessorial parts of existing molds is less expensive than developing a new line. I'm sure we'll see a new hero valk and maybe even a villan valk, but I would expect the CF's to be recycled designs with some aesthetic differences. We may see a similar situation to Zero or Frontier, where we have a core design with aesthetic changes ala VF-0A, S, D or the VF-25F, G, S, RVF, etc... However with the announced story date and how close this series follows Frontier, I think we'll see re-used designs for CF fighter craft.
  6. If Hasegawa truly wanted to be bold, they'd release standard battleship scales of the Daedalus, Prometheus, Asuka II and the Auerstadt ships. Who wouldn't want a chance to build an CVN-99 Asuka II or CVS-101 Prometheus and display it next to a CVN-68 Nimitz in 1/350 or 1/600 scale?
  7. I am not sure if we've answered this question, but how many emigration fleets had been sent out as of Mac F? Minus the short range ones that were often in the belly of Macross class warships... I am aware of the 30 Megaroad missions, but were there only 25 New Macross Class missions?
  8. So long as HG holds the trademark on the name "Macross" and they maintain their close association with Tatsunoko Studio, Big West will never work with them to have a Western release of the shows. However, Big West CAN subtitle their productions and make them available for Western import directly from Japan! Thanks to Yamato's court case against HG, the latter cannot block consumer imported Macross goods from Japan.
  9. There was quite a bit of horse trading going on by the time of the Second movie, all three major players in Macross mecha merchandise were making deals to give the other licenses to produce Macross toys and kits. Bandai got access to exclusives from Yamato / Arcadia and Hasegawa by giving them access to their exclusive licenses. We are still seeing the benefits of those trades today... That makes plausible sense. It also makes sense why many would be heading toward the galactic core, as there would be many more planets in closer proximity there.
  10. The question of the day will is, "what" will the new CF fighter be? Will it remain the VF-171 or will it become the VF-25? The VF-171 is relatively early in its service life, so one has to wonder. I guess it will depend on the story. If Federal forces are involved and the NUN Federal Government has adopted a VF-24 as their next gen fighter, that could be the new CF. We'll have to wait and see.
  11. All internal combustion engines follow these four simple principles: Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow
  12. HG cannot prevent US consumers from importing items directly from japan, where BW has ownership of the trademark and copyright. We can thank Yamato for that!
  13. I'm thinking a Kickstarter campaign might be a good idea!
  14. You can blame the high costs of shipping and the exchange rates for this, as it often makes then retail markup unappealing to walk in traffic and then you add that Canada has tariffs on Japanese goods like this, it brings the price up even more... Your best bet is to order directly from Japanese online stores like: Hobby Link Japan,( http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Dis=2&qid=9BDWXLE2FF&q=1&DisplayMode=grid&Word=macross&set=1&Sort=releaseDate+desc&gclid=Cj0KEQjw8aeiBRCknPXk-u_V_4gBEiQAD2-mgSLaaszku0yBNN-qZgpdrz74-2YiaJf4M8ISd69XDtUaAhAL8P8HAQ) Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/693/0/1) Or Some North American Dealers like: Starship Modeller (http://starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm/category/61/macross.html) Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dtoys-and-games&field-keywords=macross&sprefix=macro%2Ctoys-and-games ) But you'll be paying extra than you would by importing directly.
  15. I concede the VF-17 was an original, new design for the series. Which is what may indeed happen in the new series. Modified existing Valks with a new one for variety. Keep in mind it was nearly a decade between M7 and M0, so any new Macross production without new Valks would have not gone over well. It was a prequel to boot so SK and BW were limited in their design choices (which didn't hold Kawamori back at all it would seem ) Then there was a 4 year window between productions and another decade between TV series, which seemed to demand a brand new series of Valks for the production and so we were treated to the VF-25, RVF-25 and the VF-27. I won't be disappointed by new fighters, but it would seem a bit strange that we would get a whole new generation of VF fighters only 6 years after all the advanced tech generated by the Vajra encounter.
  16. I like to imagine that a similar idea presented in Frontier to use fold quartz to potentially "control" the populace of the Stellar Republic is what sparked the Protoculture civil war, so the idea of history repeating itself is somewhat appealing to me. The principle of "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it", is a common theme in human civilization... Can humanity possibly break that cycle?
  17. Macross 7 had no new Valk designs. The Varauta valks were re-cycled designs from a failed non-Macross series. The YF-19 and the YF-21 from Plus became the VF-19 and VF-22 respectively. It is entirely conceivable that the YF-30, may become the VF-31 and as Azreal said, we may see valks like a VF-24, VF-25 Tornado, VF-27 and VF-29's to capitalize on the Bandai molds that already exist. The accessories and paint schemes would be all that would require any new tooling (new wings and canopy in terms of the VF-24). M7 had a lot of VF on VF battles and so did M0, so I am hoping they go with that format again. It makes for much more exciting dog fight sequences. The question would be what would the premise be to support such mecha battles. The first premises that come to mind are either a proxy war at the height of cold war tensions or an all out civil war in the UN Federation of Colonial States between the Earth Federal forces and Colonial States. Kawamori already established in "Macross: The Ride" that Federal tech is not fully shared with colonial worlds and that the two militaries do not always have the same equipment.
  18. You are probably right, I mistook the wings for variable geometry ones.
  19. Having a Macross cold war would be cool! The UN Federation vs a block of colony worlds and fleets. That would make for some interesting drama. Just no black and white villans please, shades of grey to create controversy ala original MS Gundam style.
  20. You are sooo doomed if Big West starts to release new series every other year from now on... Wait, we are ALL doomed then...
  21. You likely have a point there. From a story standpoint, it could use triangles as a theme. Love triangles, conflict triangles (micro or macro) which could open many fascinating possibilities... I sure hope you are mistaken!! Rainbow music beams were enough for one lifetime, adding time travel portals would be pushing even that! Unless BW is targeting a demographic younger than 12 this time... One thing I really hope BW has learned that if they add English subs / dubs to their disc releases, they will sell more copies internationally!
  22. WOW two back to back series! That is a first for Macross! Usually we might get one OVA series and then have to wait several years until a new series is announced.
