  1. I was under the impression that the propellant was any inert gas that could be use to provide propulsion in a vacuum. The turbine engines were electrical in nature and simply utilized the available atmosphere to produce thrust. Space required a gas to substitute for atmosphere.
  2. It is interesting that the NUN Government did not follow in the footsteps of the PC Stellar Republic which appeared to have a centralized government which controlled a large portion of our galaxy. In order to do so they had to genetically engineer billions of giant soldiers and mass fleets of millions of ships to control the territory. One might argue that level of control may have contributed to its ultimate demise. NUN seems to be utilizing a federation of autonomous states, similar to how the US system of government was initially envisioned. It is probably less cohesive, but the NUN seems to be trying to find a balance between general control and individualistic self determination of its members. Much like the NATO alliance, the member worlds sign on to a common purpose and set of obligations, but are not bound to full centralized control.
  3. BLESS HIM!! OK, that's not remotely funny... Maybe we'll get the same thing as Frontier? I teaser first episode in December and the series the following spring.
  4. That would explain Kawamori's choice not to have Variable Wings on the VF-19F-S line of fighters seen in M7. Space Optimization included more propellant tank space in the wings for the fighter. Well it and the SW-XA1 were developed to be conventional fighter escorts for the VF-17. So no surprise they would share the same tech. Actually didn't the VF-19 book describe the VF-19C as the most successful version of the fighter? It being an upgraded "A" made it very popular with colony worlds, IIRC. Keep in mind as well, that by 2050 it appears that central control of the Galaxy Network from Earth had changed. It seems apparent that by 2059 the Galaxy Network had become a federation of autonomous member states as opposed to dependent worlds on a central government. So the VF-171 may well be the main frontline fighter for federal fleets or federally funded expeditions, but once an emigration fleet is underway, it seems like it is treated like an independent state. This enables it to develop and deploy its own fighters over time, as we saw with Frontier and Galaxy. We also know, that by 2059, the federal government had developed the technology of the YF-24 fighter which was then transmitted to the members of the network. We don't know how many adopted the YF-24 as it was or how many modified the design like Frontier and Galaxy did. We also do not know how much tech was not transmitted to the network members.
  5. A little off topic, I am reading your "Timeline" and have a question about the "black" text. Green is Official, Blue is Extended Universe, what is the black text from?
  6. Oh my that has come along very well!
  7. Yep, there were 4 of them. There are two more of Ranka.
  8. It is interesting to see the different kit mfgr's interpretations of the line art. Hasegawa has the cannon booms inserted into the main superstructure, while the Yellow Submarine version is more attached to the front, similar to how the TV version is drawn. It's as if Hasegawa felt the cannon booms needed to rotate inside rather than as part of the superstructure. I'm intrigued...
  9. LOVE the Egg Plane series by Hasegawa. Brilliant stuff!
  10. OK, we MUST see a build of this beauty! Wow!
  11. Is it that time again already?? I honestly wonder if this isn't some sort of HG marketing ploy to relieve RT fans of more money... If this film does ever see the light of day, it will not contain any visuals or direct references to the Macross universe, so RT fans need to divorce themselves of that fantasy right now. The only way Macross will see a US live action production is for WB to buy out all interest HG has in the property and deal directly with the IP Rights Owner of Macross, Big West. So long as HG is involved, BW will not be. Now if they choose to develop the Mospeada property, that could be cool in and of itself. This of course is assuming they have any respect for their target audience and I am sceptical about that.
  12. That too is a likely possibility. Available resources for emigration fleets would play a large factor as well. Old fighter materials would need to be recycled and new ones mined to supply the raw materials to build hundreds of replacement fighters during the upgrade process. The Macross 25 fleet initially used the VF-171 as their front line fleet fighter, so it is conceivable that say the Macross 11 fleet may still use the VF-19 as their front line fighter, but plan to upgrade the the VF-25 or 29.
  13. There is another point that seems to be missing in this discussion. The point being the revelation that the UN Federal Government is not necessarily supplying the fighters of the colony worlds and emigration fleets any longer, but rather allowing them to develop their own fighters based upon Federally developed tech. The VF-25 and VF-27 are both products of this new policy. The Feds may or may not adopt the VF-25 design into federal fleets, but it is certainly being produced for the Frontier colony and the design likley licensed to other fleets as well. IIRC, Macross the Ride implied that not all Federal Tech is shared with colonial governments, leaving the idea open that federal fighters may or may not be what we see shown in Frontier or "Delta". The Galaxy Network has become so large that central government control has become impractical. So by extension, their control over what equipment autonomous members of the network use is limited. This also gave rise to companies like LAI and SMS to fill in the gaps. The Feds may employ withheld technologies into their own fighters to maintain their competitive "edge" in case a colony chooses to attack a federal fleet or installation. From a production point of view, it opens the door to all sorts of VF designs and variations of existing designs under the premise that colonies and emigration fleets can and do produce fighter craft suited to their own specific requirements. It would appear that the days of singular aircraft adoption by all Galaxy Network members is over. This may have ended sometime in the 2050's.
  14. Very nice, not many can build the Zentradi ships with a sense of scale. I only wish you would have uploaded higher resolution images so we can appreciate the work in more detail.
  15. Why is space so dirty? Don't they have a maid?
  16. Never liked that design. Always thought the RAH-66 Comanche was a better design than this. Unfortunately at the time, the Comanche was still in early development in 1982.
  17. Saw these on Deviant Art and my jaw dropped to my knees. Gorgeous work sir!
  18. Stunning work yet again! Thank you for sharing with the community. Very much apprecited.
  19. I can't wait to see the first Armored GERWALK custom come out. That would be very very cool!!
