  1. Interesting. I loved the elegant simplicity of the VF-25 transformations that made it so much more versatile than previous generations. They would be at the top end of efficient transformations with the VF-9 being at the bottom. I do find the method of transformations interesting, but it is a draw at the low end of my appreciation scale.
  2. Well Sony has no way to frak up the Macross property, it isn't owned by HG;;;
  3. If you mean, "they are all fictional stories of actual historical events in the Macross Universe", I agree I keep thinking making M2 the story of an early Megaroad emigration fleet that is caught in a briar patch of fold faults is so much easier to work into the series continuity than anything else. If your fleet is cut off from the UN Network, you are forced to develop your own next generations of VF's, Cap ships and tactics to fend off rogue Zentradi fleets. Fleets who's ships may well be equipped with fold quartz engines that date back the PC era. The lore the M2 series was first based upon is compelling, but that has since been retconned, like it or not. Kawamori very recently retconned Mac Zero in its BD release by adding Sheryl's ear rings to a scene between Sara and Mao, that was never in the original DVD releases.
  4. Do us all a favor and post it here first At the very least the Western Fanbase can appreciate your work before the "trolls" attempt to steal your work...
  5. Love the paint detail, you must upload a zip of hires shots of this beauty!
  6. Poor story + striking visuals = Poor market performance at best or failure at worst. Hasn't Hollywood proven that countless times already? I firmly believe it is a universal truth! M0 was all about showcasing Satellite's CG animation abilities and less about a compelling narrative. If the story matched the visuals it would have appealed to the target audience as well as adults.
  7. I believe that the Chronology lists that the core worlds were destroyed, but many "outposts" simply went "dark" and hid themselves from any Zentradi contact. It would make sense that there was an existing command structure above the fleet level. This is where the fleets would get their PC marching orders from during the Republic era. After the collapse it must still remain, but the question is who are the puppet masters now?
  8. Telling a prequel for Macross is a non-starter. Nothing produced can compete with the individual viewers' expectations. M7 introduced some compelling hints into that history and I would like to see more of the same, but more than just a throw away plot point. The further humanity pushes into the Galactic core, the more evidence of the PC legacy would be found.
  9. As much as i enjoy this debate here, we should move it to it's own thread.
  10. I realize studios will produce what the market wants and what is most profitable, I am not nearly as naive as some may want to believe. "Sponsor Pressure" the only way I can justify the repeated use of 3 songs for nearly a third of M7. The alternative is too demoralizing to consider... I would be careful not to paint with broad strokes commentary on Western story telling techniques. It is true Hollywood and American audiences love the whole underdog thing, but that does not hold true for all Western cultures. It is like saying Japanese story telling is identical to Korean or Chinese prose. It simply isn't true. I have not issues with the message, however one must always consider their delivery in diplomatic circumstances, my friend.
  11. Weren't they mind controlled, I do recall a rather spirited discussion on that distinction on these boards. M7 dealt with the PD and the Megaroad 13 survivors, NOT the SA per se.
  12. I like the idea of exploring the SA more, but I would rather not see it as part of a Series where sponsor pressure could quash any real insights. An OVA series could be fun. I firmly believe the SA are a mis-understood villan in the franchise. A story featuring them could give us more hints about the PD without actually going all in on that subject. Keep the PD an enigma for decades if possible, because once you lock them into a narrative you have to destroy what came before to unlock them...
  13. I didn't get that from the article. The production team from TB asked Kawamori to design an aircraft for them and Satellite obliged them. This is also true.
  14. Did the Satellite Company President inadvertently reveal the new series' actual name?? See Forbes article! It has happened before, where one individual was not aware of a secret and then revealed it in an unrelated interview...
  15. Nice! If only someone would make a custom Armored Gerwalk kit, I can die in peace...
  16. OK chaff your kit building skills are beginning to scare me! WOW, nice work!!
  17. Um, WOW! I can't wait to see her with some paint on...
  18. "YF" designation in the US military denotes prototype fighter aircraft. So the YF-29B is simply another version of the YF-29 prototype test fighter, assuming Kawamori is borrowing the convention from the US military. I would expect they get their VF designation, as Seto suggests, when they go into production, be that mass production like the VF-11 or limited production like the VF-22. The fun part about YF prototypes is that they may have technologies that may not make it to the production models for various reasons. So they would have capabilities not found in VF models of the same airframe.
  19. Since the fan favorite Macross component won't be featured the only properties left are Southern Cross and Mospeada. SC is not worth even trying to adapt, it was a mediocre show that was cancelled. Mospeada would be more intereseting. I always felt that show never really lived up to the potential it could have and so a cinematic adaptation could be cool. We'll have to see if RT can escape the development black hole it has been in since HG first sold the option to WB and now Sony. Though i truly wonder if a studio like WB can't make it work, I am not terribly confident Sony can. WB has produced some of the most successful adaptations in the last decade, so they have a good sense if a property is viable to spend the money to make a movie. RT would require a tent pole budget and after the Disney fiascoes, I would expect most executives would be reluctant to put money into a project they were not sure about or was not helmed by a director / producer with a consistent money making history. SF war movies are effects heavy and very expensive, which is a huge gamble that can cost an executive his job.if the film doesn't make enough money. With RT's focus on fights over energy, it can be relevant to the market, but that story focus was found more in the SC and Mospeada adapted series chapters.
  20. Very sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation. I hope you get back up and running very soon.
  21. Interesting color choices by Mikimoto. He made Global a blonde in that splash page.
