It probably is a nod to the Macross franchise. It is considered a flattering act to include a reference to another show in your anime. The Dirty Pair did it often with Star Trek references, which prompted Roddenberry to respond in kind in the episode "Icarus Factor" with the Riker's playing some sort of game on the holodeck. I like most of the "filmed" Valk designs. I take exception to the VF-19 Kai, mostly because of the stupid face plate (now there is a "Gundamized" valk!). When SK started going into gundamized designs with the Valks he started to loose me ("feet instead of nozzels for the legs, faces on the head, etc...). My favs thus far are the VF-2SS Valk II, the VF-0, VF-1, VF-11 & VF-19 Excalibur. Does the VF-2SS need an update? Sure. With all the tech introduced in Mac Plus and Mac 7, it should get a technical overhaul, but design wise it is fine. To me it looks like it was developed by the same team who designed the VF-3000 and VF-5000. It would require a VF number change to fit properly into the canon universe however. In light of what has been established in the Mac universe thus far I suspect the SAP system would have to be revised as well. IMHO

I suspect that what makes the VF-0 seem "cooler" than the VF-1 is how they CG artists and director showcased all the cpapbilities of what a Variable fighter could do. In particular, the extensive combat use of the Battroid head in fighter dog fights. I found that very refreshing and wished that all the other series' had thought to utilize the full combat capabilities of the variable fighters, in a similar way.

It is larger. It has been pointed out in these forums already. The VF-0 squadron was designed to test the variable capability of the airframe design and possibly for training purposes. They were not aware of the existence of the SV-51s before the events of Mac Zero took place. The VF-1's were smaller, with armored skins and with powerful nuclear engines, not to mention they had space flight maneuvering thrusters as well. Agreed. The fact that the VF-1 was based on the F-14 airframe gave the show more credibility as a drama compared to the shows of the same era. If anything I'd like to see the VF-1 get the same CG detail treatment that the VF-0 got. The VF-1 designs are very simplistic and needed to be for animation purposes, DYRL is a great example of how the Valks could (should) have looked. Couple that with what can be done with CGI these days and we could get a damn tasty looking VF-1 Valk.

Yep. The more seeders the faster the downloads because you are grabbing the file from multiple sources all at once. I've got the CA Mac7's and they are very good. Nothing fancy, just the show and subs... Isnt bit torrent suppose to be better if it had more users? 374489[/snapback]

hard to say. It's one of those provocative series that seems to always come down to personal preference. Unfortunately, far too many carry a blind love or hate for it in its entirety. There doesn't seem to be too many middle of the road fans. I liked parts of it and didn't like other parts. I'm just not interested in debating the minutia with Keith, over my personal criticisms of the show, after every post I make...

Lestat, a few minor corrections in your statement. Mac 7 takes place 33 years after the end of the SDF Macross series and 5 years after the events of Macross Plus.
