  1. I am expecting something in the 2060 - 2070 range considering that typically Macross jumps a couple of decades to feature new goodies, in keeping with the idea that old equipment needs to be replaced after a certain period of time. 2100's would be interesting but may be a bit too distant, unless they plan to get Miyataki to design a whole new generation of Capital ships like he did for the 2040's era.
  2. Well the 11, 19 & 21 have been merchandised to death! Time for fresh meat...
  3. I don't know, Mac Zero was much more plausible for an SF story, with ancient bio weapons and telekinetic abilities, as opposed to the magic rainbow song energy of Mac 7, so I'd include Zero it as well, IMHO.
  4. Amen brother! Actually if you look at the pictures closely it's actually Max's Valk with the Zentreadi coat over it.....
  5. Funny I don't care what the filmstrip is. As a collector, having the strip, poster and band means I have a "complete" copy of the book, which adds to it's value in my eyes. I got my copy from Japan for about $130.00 US (after the freight was tallied) and it is complete in every sense, so I am a happy collector. So for those looking for one, if they are asking $200.00 for it and it is missing any of the three "extras" it aint worth close to that much IMO.
  6. YES! Without him the show would have been a total write off....
  7. Macross 7 the most "recent" full series.... I still see more new SDFM merchandise being sold than Mac 7, so you be the judge...
  8. Dude if you have issues with plausible ancient bio-weapons like the AFOS and telekinetic abilities, then steer clear of Mac 7....
  9. Well to each their own. I like RT for what it was, but the original stories work better for me (despite M7), after all they were not "cobbled together" they were written out of thin air and had a theme beyond the old "who gets the magic batteries"...
  10. I'd explain it but methinks you are too young to understand...
  11. The Defender does, but the rest seem well balanced to me.
  12. Yes the Micro Conspiracy is, if you don't count fanfiction! Macross 2 and the release of Macross Plus are the chink in the armor of the supposed claim of ownership by HG of the Macross franchise... Had they legally challenged the Manga Ent. release of these two titles they could successfully argue in a court that they controlled the franchise here, but since they didn't now they can't. Though unfortunately no one has stepped up to challenge them on this and thus publically debunk their claims. Which is why often officers of HG will not comment on any copyright issues with respect to Macross, be they here or in Japan.
  13. Yes. They really weren't paying much attention to the story with Silvie making racist remarks about Zentreadi considering she was proud of her Meltran grandmother in the show... I only read the first issue and was not at all impressed.
  14. I like the Mac II Destroids, because they are a natural progression from the originals. Some of the detail bits I can live without, but overall, I like them. I agree that the destroids may be no longer needed for the space fleet but that doesn't account for the needs of the army or the marines who would use this equipment. IMO, Spacy is simply the space navy or an umbrella name similar to the "Armed Forces". There have also been Army, Airforce, Navy and Marine divisions (in sanctioned published works) in the Earth's military that have never been addressed. As already stated how does he explain the variable Koenig Monster in the VF-X2 game? Is it not a destroid? The Spartan and the GU equipped Defender is a project I will be eager to see...
  15. That's what I meant.... I guess I should have typed it out... my bad...
  16. I didn't get the impression the PD were "evil" (in the traditional sense) at all. Self serving and without respect to any other sentient life yes, but no psychotic malevolence toward everyone. The best description you gave about them were vampiric in nature, with the same attitude that anything with spiritia in it was cattle to be fed upon and by the time of Mac 7 they knew exactly how powerful they were individually. Well Basara and Mylene both possess anima spiritia abilities and it often took both of them to "handle" the PD when they attacked. Hardly messianic powers for Basara. I always thought the singing broke the mind control effect the PD had over their army, not so much a restoration of their spirit. Since I got no impression they actually fed on their own soldiers. Actually if I remember correctly he simply taught them how to produce their own spiritia, thus a way of feeding themselves without the need to prey on others. They super dimensional beings still possessed the bio-weaponry. Maybe. However the Evil series were the most powerful weapons of their day and if only a couple could potentially waste a fleet, the possibility of meeting the whole "gang" would scare me too. Interesting speculation, however I don't agree with some of it. Essentially the idea that the PD would feed on their troops during the series, however I can't say it isn't a possibility. YES! Had the PD been effectively scary then it would have redeemed the series in my opinion. Their concept and the idea of possessed bio-weapons of incredible power is a scary idea and I wish it had been played up more. Why does this not surprise me about you Keith?
  17. They don't own the rights to Mac Plus, Manga Entertainment currently has that.... I'd suggest pointing the fighters upward as well, however with the noses pointing toward each other kinda like having the fighters creating the outline of the Spacy Kite through their positioning (if possible). Another possibility is to have two separate designs. On the front side have "General Galaxy Team" inside one of the squares with the YF-21 on the back and "Project Super Nova" and the same for the YF-19. It's too bad we don't have a decent SD cartoon or a cartoon like this one to use for each team's fighter:
  18. True enough, both Mac Zero and Plus would be easier for the non-initiated to grasp the concepts of variable fighters and character conflicts as opposed to the grand idea of Space War 1. Not to mention the themes are still currently being explored in Western cinema. Both have variable fighters duking it out in a planetary atmosphere which is always great eye candy and the stories are not directly tied to the grander themes of the Macross franchise, such as the space war, the reconstruction, and the emigration fleets, etc...
  19. I always wanted to see a picture of a Spartan carrying a GU-11 gunpod like a regular grunt as well as the Defender with a set of gunpod arms as it's main AA weaponry. Considering that the 55mm gun pods of the VF-1 were considered overkill for the fighters I always speculated they'd adapt them for the Destroid forces as opposed to abandoning them all together.
  20. Nice to see you back dude! Glad you brought your crayons with you.... BTW, I take it the color schemes are to match up with the schemes of SDFM?
  21. Bah, dead links.... It isn't so much semantics as it is an answer to the question. In that a VF-1 is capable, just not AS capable as it's younger cousins. An answer was given implying that the Valk was not capable of unassisted orbit, I am simply countering that statement with what we know
