Now that's a mod I'd get Zero Hour for. The demo felt really lame to me... I'd rather see another Red Alert 2 type of game released, that AU story was a BLAST!

Mac II takes place approximately 60 years after the events depicted in DYRL and has a very different vision of the Macross universe post SW1 as opposed to the Studio Nue continuity. However with the release of the time/space slip of 1995 in the Stuido Nue continuity, who knows if that will somehow make Mac II a canon series, but in an alternate reality from the Nue continuity, as well as open the door to other AU Macross stories.

Unfortunately that version takes A LOT of liberties with the dialogue from the original show, which does affect how the audience view the characters... Better to stick with subtitles and get used to them, because if Macross 25 is released here through Bandai Visual, they don't do dubs....

Cool idea however, I'd suggest putting the art on the conforming leg tanks as in the Macross universe the squadron logo appears on the Fast Packs, not art. Though I do like the WWII color scheme it does look pretty cool...

More reasonable by todays technology?

Yes... although the X-29 predates the Russian Berkut (aka Golden Eagle) -

I wouldn't go THAT far! I keep hoping there's a "Phantom Edit" of that one to see if it could be somehow improved with the existing footage.. -

I can't find the reference I sourced that comment from so I will have to retract the statement about what SK said about this new series, until such time as I can post where I got it from. No point in feeding the rumor mill with unsupported comments. -
NM, turns out it was my firewall blocking the site.

What He said!! I'd like a crack at it myself...

HG is very good at "scaring" American companies with litigation, we'll see what happens when BV the Japanese distributor starts to play on the block. M25 in America would be soooo cool! I too hope it's as good as the original... SK has made some pretty hefty claims about it so far "the best one yet...", so we'll see what he means by that. -

With respect to M7 music it may be the case with "outsiders" trying to license the music, but BV already has an agreement for the music domestically, it is conceivable that it would be extended to include international markets. I'm sure Victor would love to blow out any remaining Firebomber stock to Western OTAKU. HG has no "right" to anything other than SDFM, if they did Manga would have been forced to pull Mac Plus and Mac II years ago. Essentially they'd have to get Macross trademarked in the US and that ship has sailed long ago, not to mention it's a lot tougher to get than slapping a "copyright" label on SDFM merchandise. The only rights they have are for SDFM via Tatsunoko, anything else is propoganda to scare away other potential distributors. Well fansubbing hasn't slowed the flow so far, I'd wager that it has increased the profile of anime in pop culture more than any other media to date. Often times it increases the the awareness of the fans to titles that they want to see and that is translated into requests being made to distributors. That sounds like a common threat made by Japanese companies. If perform a search you will find few Japanese fansites that post BW owned images like we do here. That is because the studios strictly guard all copyrighted materials, particlularly BW (prolly because of the whole Tatsunoko mess). Sites won't web publish anything remotely copywritten like we do here for fear of legal action. Whereas here, studios tend to leave websites alone so long as they don't try to make money on copyrighted materials. As already stated, HG has no claims on anything post SDFM, if they had any legal leg to stand on they'd have exercised it long before now. Manga Ent. has held the rights to Mac Plus and Mac 2 for over a decade without any legal challenges from HG. HG hasn't the money or the legal ground to launch any suit on titles other than SDFM. With the legal rulings in Japan, their grip on even the SDFM property is tenuous now. They own the animation only and could possibly be sued for use of the Valkyrie and character designs of SDFM if BW & Studio Nue so wishes. HG is less of a threat to the legal Japanese owners of the show than they would be to American distributors, who wish to avoid costly legal nuisance proceedings. Anyway this is getting off topic. -

There is every reason to believe there will be a North American release of Macross 25 if Bandai Visual is the one to release it here. They are the principle domestic distributor for BW's Macross series' and with an American office they will hold the international rights to the series as well. For the Mac 7 fans, it bodes well for a possible Mac 7 release here as well and maybe even Macross Zero. Since Manga doesn't seem to be re-releasing the Macross titles, like all the rest of the titles in it's catalog these days, one could speculate that the license has lapsed or was pulled in order for BV to release the remastered versions here. However, that is only specualtion. There is too much potential revenue for BW and BV to ignore and with Western distributors timid about licensing Macross properties, it makes sense to distribute the productions directly if that is their plan. -

Bandai Visual has already publically stated that they will not be doing English dubs of their title catalog, as it would add too much cost to the releases. Whether they ultimately find it cost effective to purchase a dubbing studio here in the future is unknown at this time. -
I suspect the reason why there is no notch for the head on the "D" is because that is where the rest of the nose sits and it allows for the same hydraulic extenders to work with that fighter as well as the rest of the variants.
-
Robotech thinking is making a speculation and then proclaiming it to be canon despite any official documentation or lack thereof. As for the VEFR-1 it was never featured in any episodes (AFAIK) and if you look at all the available line art, it sports a pre-production gun pod, so even that craft could be considered speculation. The ES-11D Catseye (which was animated) looks very similar in equipment and could easily have served that role during the war, but it was never stated. Then in DYRL it appears that the fleet operations adopted the VE-1 for that very role, however that was during the post SW1 era. Wouldn't that affect how the hips attach to the nose? The nose would be longer wouldn't it?
-
Well the VF-1D was an ECM, electronics warfare fighter as well as used as a live round training craft, if I remember correctly. The "ports" could have been for additional EDCM antenna or mission specific modules. I tend to speculate the Virgin Road variant was the VF-1B a 2 seat "strike bomber" variant (similar to the role the F-16 had in the airforce) , but I have no documentation to base that on.
-
Hmm, makes me wonder if that is the ever elusive "B" variant similar to the 2 seater VF-0B of Macross Zero? It doesn't have the tell tale elements found on the "D" as the head and the chest vents as already stated. Although the VF-0B uses an "A" head instead with a single laser cannon as opposed to the twin cannons on the Virgin Road variant.

Well, that book (used) consistently sells on Yahoo Japan for 5000 - 6500 Yen, so after the shipping costs and profit margin that is a fair price for a new copy of a still very popular book in Japan. Believe it or not.

He may be confusing the name of the concert with the debut singer. The Firebomber meets Minmay is in reference to Hummingbird playing in a concert with Mari. -
Only Bandai Visual knows that for sure and they aren't talking at the moment...

They do? If that is indeed the truth, then the speculation about "restarting" SDFM is true, however there have been a lot of rumors floating around, so we'll see what official word is given.
