  1. One correction. According the what's been published about MacF, the YF-24 was the prototype version that became the VF-25, similar to how the YF-21 became the VF-22. It wasn't cancelled... What the Galaxy used for the prototype for the VF-27 could very well have been designated the YF-26, although the fighter was built under the radar of NUNS, so at this point little is known about its development. I don't know if it's official, but I suspect that the YF-16 was the prototype for the VF-17, although I am not sure where the info for the VF-16 came from, seems like it was speculation since the compendium doesn't have any information on that fighter.
  2. It seems to me the SV-51 was a refinement of the VF-19 transformation sequence and then Kawamori went a step further with the VF-25/27 to give the pilot's maximum protection in battroide mode. It is entirely possible the Galaxy was sponsored by General Galaxy and the fact that they designed and deployed a fighter without NUNS knowledge indicates to me that all is not ideal in the Macross universe. With the VF-27 being based off the VF-22 is seems that the fighter was designed as a special ops fighter like the VF-22 was.
  3. Well considering Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, you shouldn't be surprised. Be glad it isn't the World Cup!
  4. Yes, thank you for the contribution to the community. I strongly suspect that the bloggers are the writers for the series. Who knows the characters better than those writing the words every week...
  5. Then why is it holding it like one in the pictures? Ep 7 showed them stowing it on the back, but in the pics it is being held like a sheild... They want everyone to believe they have a monoply, all they actually own are half the international dist rights to the original series and the trademark to the "Macross" name in North America and possibly South America. However, your point about the BD releases being able to sidestep any infringement C&D orders is absolutely correct. That is the main reason why I've pre-ordered the first disc on BD. I am hopeful they do have English subs at least for the release. I suspect hoping for a dub is pie in the sky thinking at this point...
  6. Depends if the rounds are chemical based or if the gunpod is a railgun of sorts, which would carry inert slugs.
  7. The missing numbers are assigned to the VB-6 and the CF-25's. The Pixies are a separate squad, under the command of Ozma.
  8. I dunno, if this has been posted yet, but there is a new update for the Mecha section, which includes the VF-27, VB-6, Macross Quarter (kinda cool that is uses the flight deck like a shield...) and others... http://macrossf.com/mechanic/mechanic.html
  9. Hmm wonder if the islands were somehow inspired by the Ocean Dome resort in Japan.. http://www.wonderfulinfo.com/amazing/unbelv/pg5.htm http://www.divester.com/2006/06/23/japans-ocean-dome/ http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Se...e_-_outside.jpg http://www.techfresh.net/wp-content/upload.../ocean-dome.jpg http://www.excitris.com/2005/09/27/seagaia-ocean-dome/ Very cool, BTW...
  10. She had always been obsessing over the ear ring. It wasn't until it was lost in battle, that she gave up on seeing it again. Sheryl began to feel attracted to Alto when she realized he wasn't star struck like all the other males she'd met (considering he knew fame as an actor, it is little surprise). Particularly when he took her for a tour of Frontier. She opened up to him in ep7 regarding her past which was quite a step for her. Well I saw Sheryl's whole kissing of Alto as a "marking her territory" thing. She saw Alto worrying over Ranka and sought to attract his attention with herself. The more popular Ranka gets Sheryl will either grow colder and more competitive or relax a bit and let Ranka take the spotlight for a change and possibly persue Alto more agressively. I can see her getting pretty ruthless when it comes to competing for the affections of a guy... One doesn't become a teenage pop-idol by chance...
  11. Wasn't the recon ship from Galaxy a homage? It resembled a VF-2SS and really didn't have to...
  12. I am undecided personally. I am liking how they've shuffled the characters up. Sheryl the pop idol, very outgoing and bold like Minmay, yet all the while emotionally guarded like Misa and Myung. The principle difference here is that Sheryl is genuinely interested in Alto, while Minmay's feeling for Hikaru were largely non-romantic until she started getting lonely near the end of the series. Sheryl is guarded for good reason, however you can tell she wants to open up to Alto, but is terrified at the prospect of his rejection. Ranka, the talented debuting pop idol like Minmay, yet shy and introverted like Misa. Ranka is the most sympathetic of the two, wearing her heart on her sleeve most of the time and being fairly physically awkward for her age. As Misa was socially awkward, Ranka is physically awkward and clumbsy. She is learning to be fiercly determined like Sheryl, yet her shyness is what's keeping her from asserting herself with Alto. In many ways she is like Mao, except Moa wasn't a viable rival to her sister, due to her age, but Ranka can be a romantic rival to Sheryl. Ultimately as a fan who now has a vested interest in the characters, I wish they all get what they want. When they ultimately figure out what that is...
  13. It is an error, but a dialog error, not animation...
  14. Yes the Dulfim was red (orange). The errors are to be expected in a weekly series. If they remain in the Disc releases then there will be a problem...
  15. Actually I like the idea personally. With engines that are probably OTEC based, you have vehicles with no mileage limitations, so the resurrection of classic cars would probably become rampant at that time. Hell Sheryl's limo was a stretched Mercedes...
  16. Yeah I saw that. The SRP is a bit high for a 1/72 kit though, 4200 Yen?
  17. I dunno, I think the amount of cosplay costumes on sale on YHJ as well at cons is another indicator. Costumers won't go to all the trouble of making original costumes if there isn't a market or desire to wear it... As for the BD discs, we still don't know if there is an English sub track. It could be something they are keeping quiet during the pre-order period. If word got out that there was an English track (assuming there is) then the pre-orders would get a boost but the profit margins would be poor since pre-orders tend to sell for less than release date orders.
  18. It'd be a very short movie, since Shin and Mao had limited interaction during the course of Zero. Not to mention fairly boring considering all the time Shin spent in the cockpit.
  19. The story and setting of MacII would have to be changed for it to be included. It is too limiting for the universe to have the Earth remain so sparsly populated after 60 years and technical advancements to be so few. The diversion of the MacII fighter designs from the Nue continuity designs would have to be explained as well. For it to be a remote colony world cut off from the Galaxy Network of the UNG and UNS, would be a reasonable start. The era it takes place in would have to be substantially reeled in since the VF-2 designs are a hybrid of the VF-1 and the VF-4 and nothing that came after them, with an exception in similarity to the VF-3000. Which also ties into the notion that after 60 years they were only able to come up with 5 main fighter designs (VF-1, VF-4, VF-2SS, VF-2JA & MS)? Unlikely.
  20. *Sigh--Rummages through his storage trunk and pulls out his old mace and shield for the sake of the newbs* Ah, the same tired old weak statement from the M7 camp.... One statement- "Prove it!" True. If you throw away the first season, it's actually palatable. On the contrary, too short. Way too many threads left dangling. See above Can't explain that except the heros had to live. Exception sir, Mac II predates Evangelion by 3 years, thus the Evangelion OST sounds too much like the Mac II soundtrack. I hope you are being facetious... What was that a episode WITH Planet Dance is wasted? OK, now I KNOW you are being facetious...
  21. Prolly. The SMS are contractually under the command of NUNS during a time of conflict.
  22. I think the cyborg arm was for the benefit of the audience, not a trigger for Ranka-chan. It was the peril that triggered her memory, just as it had done previously.
  23. GF definitely resembles Mospeada more than Macross, which is no surprise considering Kenichi Sonoda did the character and mecha designs for both shows. What makes you think those are lasers? In particular in GF2 these "lasers" do an even greater arc to destroy a cruiser overhead. These were missiles and probably a better (albeit misunderstood) way to represent space based missiles as not giving off "smoke" in the vacuum of space... These smokeless missiles are present throughout the original trilogy OVAs.
  24. That isn't exclusive to Macross anymore, particularly the "Spacy" part. I've seen the same in Gundam and a few other series. It has become something like a UN Space Agency type idea...
