My current display cabinet can have 1/60 VF-1 models parked facing forwards, but both the VF-4 and the VF-19 Kai are too long, which is why I had to put them in facing sideways. Also, even going in sideways, the VF-19 Kai's wing span barely fit. So, does anyone here have any recommendations on display cabinets? Would appreciate some Amazon links or whatnot. Thanks!

A couple of new arrivals in the mail today. 1. Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Kai 2. Yamato v2 1/60 VF-1A TV Max 3. HMR VF-1S 35th anniversary (not pictured ) I hope CD Japan does more of these outlet deals. The price is great, and I don't see any problems at all with the outlet HMR valk I just received. P.S. I need more cabinet space or something.

The one thing about the florescent paint thing that bothers me with the PF SDF-1 is that I would have thought people would keep their valuable collectible toys generally away from bright light, in order to prevent plastic from yellowing or paint fading. But here, it is practically begging us to charge it up with bright light. I feel so conflicted!

Check out @jenius' review... http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=10337 Complete with photos, video review, and video transformation guides. Oh, and to answer your question, yes the gap is normal and mentioned in the review as a negative against the toy.

Yeah, I am in the same boat. I think I only need 1 YF-19, but ordered 2 as a precaution.... plus I was afraid of the whole VF-31A inflation situation occurring later on. Well, I suppose I will have something to trade with down the road.

I can definitely see the merit in pre-ordering from at least 2 different providers, as a measure of fail-over and redundancy.

NY has the PF SDF-1 for 53,980 yen. https://www.nippon-yasan.com/22049-1-3000-kanzen-henkei-sdf-1-macross-premium-finish-limited-edition.html

I wonder how the inner lights on the main cannon do not get destroyed when it is fired. Ok. I suppose the SDF-1's main cannon could be using some form of magnetic confinement fusion, injecting plasma into the area between the cannon pylons, where the pylons themselves act as the magnetic confinement mechanism. I suppose then the pylons can also double as a kind of plasma railgun, adjusting the magnetic confinement field to propel the plasma towards the enemy. This could explain why we sometimes see those pylons somewhat disintegrate on occasion within the show, as perhaps the confinement is destabilized in battle or firing the cannons is rushed when the state of the plasma is not fully under control. Now my mind is recalling all the stuff we covered back in my undergraduate nuclear engineering seminar elective. Fun fact, MIT has its own research reactor that does the whole magnetic confinement of plasma thing. The roofs of many of the buildings on campus are equipped with radiation detectors as a precaution. The reactor actually makes money for the school, irradiating silicon ingots, which can then be sliced into a bunch of circular wafers for use in microprocessor fabrication. Now I wonder, what is the nature of the main cannon's attack supposed to be in canon?

I sort of wish Bandai would do a 1/60 scale version of the Hi-Metal R valkyries entitled "Hi-Metal Large". An exact scale up of their HMR counterparts, but with integrated landing gear, better hard points on the wing, cockpits canopies that open up, and integrated heat shield. I wonder which would be considered the better toy... the Arcadia/Yamato v2 valkyrie, or the proposed Hi-Metal Large.

Is the magic tactic here to do a pre-order through HLJ hoping to have them cancel it so you get a 10% coupon?
-
AHHHH! Wouldn't that be VF-1's with an apostrophe then?
-
I wonder if there is going to be an influx of cheap standard version 1/3000 scale SDF-1's on the market with the PF release being out now. I will have to keep an eye out.... (*looks at display cabinet*) ... or I would have, if I had room for another SDF-1. *sigh*

You mean the VF-1J... not the VF-1S.
-
If we are talking about the 1/60 scale toys, a complete M&M collection would be what? By my count, I see... VF-1J Super Max, VF-1J Super Miria, VF-1A TV Max, VF-1A DYRL Max, VF-1S DYRL Max, VF-1D Virgin Road, VF-22 Max, VF-22 Miria, Queadluun-Rau Miria, and Queadluun-Rau Max. So, maybe 10 toys? I don't know... I imagine a good number of people here having many of these 10. I myself am only up to 4.

Aren't the DX VF-19 Advanced more expensive nowadays... at least when checking sites like Jungle and Mandarake... than the DX YF-19?
-
I have to admit, I am of 2 minds regarding the VF-4's design. Part of me thinks it looks neat and futuristic. But part of me also finds the way it mounts missiles to be strange. Why not put wing hard points, to allow for a variety of ordinance? It seemingly cannot use reaction weapons as a result. Also, seemingly no use of fast packs, super or strike parts, or armor. It's use of 10 wings or fins (vs the VF-1's 6.... 2 for the wings, 2 for the tail fins, and 2 fins on the legs) make it seem like it is most suited for atmospheric flight, making me wonder if that era had a separate space-superiority fighter and the VF-4 was an air-superiority fighter?

Is it bad that when I see this picture, I imagine the 2 SDF-1's touching each other inappropriately?
-
So, I was wondering... In Macross lore, does Basara eventually marry Mylene? I am trying to organize my valkyries, and wondering if I should make room for the VF-19 Kai to go on my Max + Miria shelf as their son-in-law. Please tell me she did not get together with Mr Boring Pilot with the Dmitri haircut.

31A up to 53,000 yen on YJA with an hour left on the auction. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d280407486 Who needs BitCoin? We can just use valkyries as a form of currency! Want a blockchain-based ledgering system? We can record entries using tampa printing along the hull! *LOL*

I suppose if I ever have kids, I'd want them to inherit my Valkyries.... and they better appreciate them! Of course, I would indoctrinate them into Macross from an early age. I'd show them Macross, DYRL, Plus, I suppose 7, and Frontier. I'm iffy if I would show them Delta, and I'd send them to the adoption agency if they ever watched 2. *LOL* But I have to admit... I am not thrilled by the idea of carrying around a 7 to 10 pound bowling ball in my tummy for months on end, yet alone squeezing something that big out from between my legs. *sigh* [ now goes into a rant about how male/female plumbing is unfair ] Anyways....
